  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

GV60 Canadian Deposit - Local Dealer Information & Timelines

Based on the QST/GST in Quebec, 5.4% , 48 month term and payment of $1300, (this is presumably a performance model, I didn't account for any down payments)Your total interest obligation is going to be just short of $5K and residual around $33,400( around 42% residual)
Based on this, if I do the math for Alberta, I've got 48 payments of $1338 for $64,223, plus a buyout of $35,070 (after GST), totaling $99,293 - vs. a cash price of $83,084. Decision is pretty clear for me.

I tried to change my interior colour and my sales person told me I couldn’t as I would loose my build position! Inconsistency everywhere!

You should ask your salesperson your build number..
Well some good news finally managed to convince my salesperson to recheck and get them to change my interior colour (note with also a call to Genesis HQ) and with additional pressure based on information in this forum.
They succeeded in changing my interior colour and at the same time it appears my build number improved from #250 to #129 , and they are also looking to set a test drive up next week !
Feeling excited 😜

Lease prices are now available. 1300$ for 48 months.

In Quebec, after rebate, 740$ for Kia EV6 GT-2. Almost half price.

Value is subjective and Genesis is a better car, but the difference is huge !!!
But for whatever car you are driving now at 2$/Liter, the gas saving offset can be a good point to add. Yes, EV6 or i5 would be good.
But GV60 delivery should be quicker. the wait for delivering the EV6/i5, you already save 2 years of gas.
I intent to finance at 4.4, but lease would be cheaper for some. Downpayment for finance make sense. Not lease.

We all have our own budgets, opinions and perceptions of value, but for me, the Performance is worth the extra money.

  • 170HP doesn't come cheaply. I don't think you'd find an option for an incremental 100HP on any vehicle for less than a few grand. Look at the difference in price between the standard and performance versions of a Tesla.
  • A 1" wheel upgrade typically runs about $1000. Personally, I wouldn't have paid for such an option on an EV as it reduces range, but most people in the market seem to be happy to do so.
  • Adjustable suspensions aren't cheap - running a couple grand as a standalone option.
  • Blind spot monitor is a neat feature, it seems to be a favourite of the journalists that have reviewed the GV60 . Not sure how to value it, as it seems to be unique to the Hyundai products.
  • I had an optional B&O system in a prior vehicle - it was a $4000 option there, and something I quite liked.
Been lurking here for a while, and thought I'd chime in as well.

I was comparing between the Advanced and Performance model as well, and there are a few additional differences that, to me, is worth the extra $$

-Brakes
The Performance model has 14.2" front and rear vented discs and 4 piston front calipers. (Advanced 13.6" front vented, 12.8" rear solid disc, single piston calipers). With the extra weight and torque from EV's in general, the extra braking performance is a welcomed feature.

-Laminated rear glass and ANC will add to the driving comfort.

Performance brakes are much more marketing than practicality for most vehicles. Unless someone is tracking their car, they'll never see a difference. In most cases, the limiting factor for braking is traction between the tire and road surface, not the brakes' ability to grab the rotor. This is why ABS systems engage under heavy braking - the brakes have overpowered traction.

That is possible. I did not test drive the GV60 yet so cannot confirm if that is the case.

But just on spec sheets alone, the difference in rotor size and solid/vented disc, there will be difference (theoretically) in grabbing power and heat build-up in the discs.

I've owned both MK7 and MK7.5 Golf GTI, and between the 2, I can feel the difference in performance in the upgraded brakes in the MK7.5. So I guess it depends on how the manufacturer applied the changes.

Did he say why the phone cannot unlock it … is that feature part of international model ?
They have not made it available in Canada he said. He did not know why.

There is too much contradictory feature information going around. We need Genesis to post the Canadian manual so that we can see what's what.

This is an EV where >99% of the 'braking' will not make use of the friction brakes. In the event of hard braking, the tires are going to be the limiting factor. Unless someone is regularly applying the brakes hard, fade & heat dissipation won't matter.

Big brakes and calipers look cool, but are completely non-functional in 99% of vehicles.

I went to Both Genesis US and Genesis Canada. Genesis US has the GDK2 mention in their Technology page.

However, Genesis Canada has no mention anywhere about the GDK or GDK2.

Looks like another bummer....

But this is not new to me, as my dad's Limited Elantra the US version has the GDK, but Canada gets none.
So, what's so advance is this GV60 then? Crippled tech car, no digital mirrors, no HDA2, no GDK(1or2).

Wait.... we have Rear Guide Lamps

No sight of that manual yet, the page is still blank.

It is very sour to hear, US has free 30min charging, 7500$tax credit, GDK2. We don't. What else we don't get here? We only get 2 extra year of valet concierge maintenance. (5years versus 3 in US)

BMW can do it, why Hyundai/ Genesis cannot?

I really feel Genesis/Hyundai Canada really not pushing much effort to introduce these fun to have or value to own an hyundai car.
People compare US/Canada Spec, pricing, local offering.

Pretty sure we won't get here in Canada, Hyundai did the same with Ioniq 5. I am going to guess its some sort of weird Canadian regulatory thing,

I struggle to think that they are providing different parts for the US and Canadian vehicles, so why not make GDK2 available here? I suspect the vehicle would have all it needs to support it.

So, there seems to be some precedent for it...

You have the i5? or People from an i5 canadian group complaint about it?

The newly announced Lexus RX500h comes with a 6 piston caliper in the front but still only 235 width tires!

Interestingly, wider tires - on their own - do not improve traction. Two reasons:

1) Contact patch size is simple math - vehicle weight divided by tire pressure. A 3500lb vehicle with 35 psi tires has 100 sq. inches on tire on the road. A wider tire means a shorter patch front-to-back.

2) The equation for total friction is a factor of the coefficient of friction (tire 'stickiness' in this case) and mass (vehicle weight). Size of contact patch doesn't influence things (unless the varying shape somehow changes the coefficient).

I called my dealership today and changed my exterior color today from Himalayan Grey to Mauna Red - asked him if this would change my place in the queue at all and he said it might speed up my order since not many people order the red. Anyone else have any perspective on this?

Gotcha, you just changed interior? What'd you change to/from for it to increase that much?
