If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

GV60 Canadian Deposit - Local Dealer Information & Timelines

I have a test drive set up with Genesis Yorkdale (Toronto) tomorrow morning. Anything I should target for a trial? Fingerprint, HUD, wireless AA and CarPlay, HDA 1/2, etc? I feel like HDA will be difficult to test on the 401…
It's funny. Something as small as where you plug in the charge cord could be a deal breaker. In Montreal there are street side EV chargers everywhere. All I see are Tesla's and their driver side ports with cords draped over across their vehicles. Makes me cringe.

Do Canadians get fancy adaptive pixel dimming headlights liek the rest of the world or do you all suffer like Americans with our outdated headlight regs?

In Canada we (generally) follow the NHTSA rules for everything. As of now we have the same archaic laws that forbid matrix lights as the Americans.

Here's to hoping an OTA update will fix that in the future! They did finally approve matrix lights in the US in Jan so I imagine more mfr will begin the self-certification process to enable this feature on future cars. For some like Audi, it's just a software update to enable.

I didn't think there was wireless AA and carplay?

I was pretty impressed with the Bluetooth interface when I set up my phone. Also the energy consumption detailed info is interesting.

Nope! :)

ADB lights were okayed for Canada circa 2018. Many manufacturers unfortunately lump Canada and the US together, so availability is limited here.

Fortunately, Genesis is not one of those manufacturers.

So, I had my test drive today. Unfortunately it was only the Performance and I'm more interested in the Advanced.
Let me apologize by also saying that I didn't use the Boost at all because I'm sure it would be great but i wanted to concentrate on how it drives without Boost.
I also have some specific criteria. I live in downtown Toronto with a shared narrow driveway and small garage. I wanted to make sure it fit in the garage with room for me to get out of it comfortably and that backing out the driveway would be ok. I currently drive a VW Golf GTI and the is about 3" wider.
It fit fine a the garage...getting out was a bit tight but acceptable.
Pulling out down the driveway I had to override the car's refusal to continue backing because it thought I was going to hit a garbage can beside the house. Not a huge problem...all you have to do is step on the brake pedal once and it releases the throttle (not exactly intuitive but ...).
So pulling out will be a bit more difficult but, again, manageable.

I was able to easily find a comfortable driving position...I like to sit high and the car allowed that. I could comfortably rest my left arm on the door sill with the window open.
It's very nice to have real buttons for heat and radio....other electric cars be damned.

The test car was lime green and the salesman was remarking at how everyone was looking at the car.

The suspension was very comfortable over terrible downtown roadways. I must say the wind noise was a bit louder on the Don Valley than I expected although not loud...I just thought it would be whisper quiet.

I've never had a HUD and it was very clear and easy to see. There appears to be a number of different ways to display any of an amazing array of data. I didn't play with the screens much as there are a tone of youtube videos on this. I will say that the screens are very sharp and responsive to input.

I came away very impressed by the comfort and easy ride of the GV60.It is a very well thought out car. It's a very nice car and now I'm pretty sure I'll pull the trigger.

I put a $1000 down on both the Performance and Advanced. He said my Performance is already on the boat from Korea and should be here by end of this month.I am #48.

The Advanced is not due to be built until some time in July with delivery but sometime in September. I am #128.

At $79K the Performance is a real stretch for what I want to pay for a car. The real value to me in the Performance would be the surround camera so I could get a bird's eye view when backing down my driveway and possibly the park assist for the tightness in my garage.
The heated rear seats are a nice idea but not that important to me. The back massage in the driver's seat sounds nice as I have back issues but I read one review that said it wasn't all that effective (anyone with ideas on this?)
The added power would be fun but really unnecessary. Reviews of the adaptive suspension don't make it sound very attractive.
And that's my limited review.

So....adivice on Performance vs Advanced?
I have to let him know by Monday afternoon if I want to keep my place for the performance

He mentioned that the orders he has are evenly split between the two models

Thanks for the feedback … can’t wait to drive
Is Monday the last date to pull out , or can you still pull out later if you decide otherwise ?

The sense I get is that if you don’t ”commit” by Monday, you may be waiting longer as the car gets sent to someone that isn’t waffling.
I think the reason that none of us has a VIN yet is that they’re waiting to get a sense of who’s in and out and then direct the cars that have already arrived to the committed buyers.

The way the market is right now although risky you could almost keep both cars and decide when the advance comes in which one you want….

If I don’t commit by Monday to the performance it goes to someone else.
He told me, btw, that he hasn’t had any cancellations at all

Definitely risky. Who knows how quickly things could change with rising interest rates.

If they are looking at Canada as a whole, that doesn't make sense. Most of us outside of Quebec and Ontario haven't had a chance to see the car in person yet. Our deadline is definitely not Monday.

OK, this a bit of a lengthy post, but I wanted to give my opinion on the GV60. I just got back from test driving a Performance model in white (Langley Genesis in BC). Very nice car... I have an order in for a silver Advanced and will stick with it - partly cuz it's hard to justify the price difference but partly cuz they have stopped taking orders. I put my deposit in on April 21st. They haven't been able to tell me my build number, but say it will be 2023 sometime.

Things I didn't like:
  • head rest seems to push my head forward (see images). Does anyone know if this is adjustable forward and back?
  • I don't love the grey plastic around the wheel wells - but that can be wrapped.
  • seat height is perfect (higher than a car, lower than a full SUV.
  • Back seats were tilted back significantly, likely because the floor is a bit higher so you don't have your knees on your chin
  • the silver plastic buttons seems a bit cheap looking
Things I liked:
  • Look of the car is great
  • Blue interior is much nicer than I expected (although it's not available in the advanced trim)
  • Stereo is amazing (although again it's not available in the advanced trim). I tried the base stereo in a GV70 which was still good.
  • It drives really nice
  • Screens / layout is perfect
  • It didn't feel like a bulky SUV.

Other things I noticed:
  • The difference between eco, comfort and Sport mode is huge. This is a good thing because it really changes the feel of driving the car. Comfort mode seems perfect. Sport mode is for showing off.
  • I had to have the steering wheel quite high so I could see the screen through the gaps in the steering wheel.
  • There seemed to be a slight lag before the real power kicks in for eco & comfort mode when stepping on the gas. Sport mode was minimal. Sport with Boost was crazy fast - way faster than you need
Overall, I'm very impressed. I also researched & test drove the Tesla Y, the Volvo XC40, & the Ioniq5. Each had it's pros & cons. The GV60 was a good combination of quality, feel, and price.

I had my test drive of a red performance this morning in Toronto. Dealer told me finger print was disabled… also, Bluetooth was disabled and I didn’t have a USB cord to connect to my phone. I used the native navigation, which was fine. We did not try the facial recognition function.

The car is very nice overall and the boost on the performance is dangerous (good thing?). I pushed it way above the speed limit on open stretches of the highway. To me, the car was so calm, quiet and stable at high speed that I had no idea it was going so fast.

Talking to the dealer, the deliveries will come “batched” per exterior/interior colours and he had no idea which batches were first. We agreed to keep my pre-order selections and add a note that I was open to any Advanced model - in case a cancellation opens up.

Although the price isn’t what I’d like, it seems like the “earlier” delivery estimated in 2022 will help me decide. I’m waiting for a polestar 2 test drive as deliveries seem to be quicker, but it has slower max charge speed.
