GV60 Canadian Deposit - Local Dealer Information & Timelines

Don, from Genesis Calgary arrived at the house at about noon today with my car. We handled the paperwork on the back deck, and then he took me through a few things in the car. Genesis has training for their salespeople next week, so he didn't have a lot of info on the GV60, but took me through the usual Genesis features, etc. He's been very good throughout this process. At points, I felt like he wasn't sharing much information, but realized part way through that the information most other salespeople were providing was just their guesses, and Don was wise to choose his words carefully. I'd have no qualms with recommending him to others.

I spent the next three hours or so going through the owner's manual, and customizing settings, etc. I quite like all the storage spots. The trunk floor folds in a couple different ways, allowing me to hide shopping bags and other items below the deck. I've got my 12V booster pack and an extension cord (if I ever need to charge at 120V) in the frunk, and the center console and glove box allow me to neatly place things much better than I could in my last vehicle. I've got a couple towels laying down in the hatch until I can find a cargo liner.

The car was delivered with about 35% charge, so after I got things setup I drove to the nearest DC fast charger, which was a PetroCan site. It had two charge units with 350kw CCS and Chademo plugs on each. There was a couple at one of the chargers with a Nissan Leaf. Neither of us could get the units working, I called the 800 number shown, the person on the phone rebooted both units with no success. I should have checked PlugShare before heading out as it's been reported as non-functional for some time. The folks with the Leaf said that PetroCan chargers are notoriously unreliable.

I'm really enjoying the car so far. It's taking some time to get my driving position set up comfortably and get used to the controls. I was worried the driving position would feel too high for me as I've been driving sedans for the last eight years, but it has been just fine. I tested out the remote parking feature, which is pretty cool.

The things that may take some time to get used to for me are the width of the vehicle - it is quite wide, and the rear hatch makes and odd noise when it latches. I'm not sure if mine is off somehow or if that's just the way it is, but it is a little loud. I also need to find that post about how to adjust the headrests beck, as they do seem a little far forward.
Congrats on taking delivery. Must be very exciting.
Was the owner's manual any different from the US version that was posted online?

Are you thinking I could be making all of this up? :)

Most plastic was removed. I found a couple small pieces throughout the day still on. Perhaps they’d leave it on if you asked?
I was also surprised they didn’t charge it. It was no big deal, though. I stopped at a free 24kw charger last night while I installed my dashcam and now have it up to 80%.
My pan is to maintain the battery at 50% unless I’m planning to head out of town.

BTW, The crystal sphere looks damn cool in the dark. It took a little getting used to as I’d reach for the infotainment knob for the first while.
The handwriting input is also very cool.
Congratulations on the new car. FYI they really should have delivered the car with a full charge. A Full charge is listed on Hyundai's pre delivery checklist with all their EVs and typically listed on the factory window sticker as an included item. I am not sure why Genesis would have a different policy. I would ask your dealer about this.

Congratulation on your new car…..but poor delivery unfortunately.

What is your car version Advance or Performance ?

What's the mileage on your car when it was delivered?

So that everyone is aware, changing your dealership puts you at the back of the line. Found that out the hard way. Switched from London > Toronto and wasn't even told that doing so would push me to the back. I don't see why that's a thing, but I guess it is.

Sadly I agree. I am sure the car is awesome but the delivery experience should have been much better for Looney100. The premium service experience is supposed to be one on the major differentiators that justifies the $14-22K difference over a Ionic 5 or KIa EV6.
I have to admit when I took delivery of my Ioniq 5 the experience was exceptional. My sales rep was in constant contact(voice and email) with me during my 6 month wait. The car was delivered with 100% charge in immaculate condition with no protective stickers anywhere. The delivery occurred in their dedicated indoor climate controlled showroom display/delivery bay. He spent a leisurely hour + with me going over all the features. He was very knowledgeable about the car. We pleasantly chatted several minutes about cars in general. He introduced me to the service and management staff. Everyone seemed genuinely excited that I was taking one of their most popular vehicles off their lot. It was a surprisingly premium experience.

Meanwhile after getting zero contact for over 2 months after placing my Genesis online order in the early part of this year I emailed my dealer who finally emailed back and simply acknowledged my existence and I have not heard back since. I have to rely on sources here for clues on possible delivery and oddly from my Hyundai service writer who previously worked for Winnipeg Genesis and informed me the other day that they got a blue demo GV60 at my Genesis dealer, apparently the general manager is enjoying the ride. Yet nothing from Genesis experience rep about setting up a demo for the rube that already paid his deposit. Unfortunately I continue to be less than impressed with the Genesis experience.

Hopefully Genesis Canada has someone monitoring this forum for feedback and improvement …. but alas I doubt it very much. That would be too out of the box thinking …

I'll be adding to my experience once this is all said and done. I went into the dealership yesterday to discuss with he owner about the sour taste that the back pedaling that the dealership did in my "locked in trade-in" evaluation left. The owner spent the better part of an hour explaining to me why they had to ultimately make this decision. He's offered to help me where he can... As long as I didn't ask for a accommodation sale through Genesis to another dealership (which I had actually set up)... Or ask for a loner car in the interim should I look to sell my current vehicle privately (Which I might have needed temporarily). He did say "The good thing is that neither one of us is obligated here.". As in he's not obligated to sell me the vehicle, and I'm not obligated to buy it. Which I assume is true, but hardly a selling point if you ask me.

I think if you have your deposit on it they are obligated to hold it for you no? Or at least give you first right of refusal?

My dealer was saying if we were to cancel (which we are not) the vehicle would go right back to genesis canada and they wouldnt be able to sell it. Instead would have to send it back to genesis canada to give to the next person in the que.

I received today per email the Genesis Connected access…nice ;-)

Very simple and straightforward procedure.

Now i can manage a lot of thing through my phone….;-)….i could open and close the door of the car….even i am not at the dealership….i could start the car…but didn’t do it for security raisons,,,;-)

Also i could see the charging level of the battery and the range …so for 100% charge i have 401 km…we will see in real world if i can get more….or less….;-)

Glad it’s not just me who hasn’t been contacted for a Wpg test drive. I saw on Facebook that they got the demo on the 10th. I know I am not first in line, but it would have been nice to hear from them.

I have also had limited contact with Genesis Winnipeg, basically 3-5 days from an email asking questions until a response. I did get an email about the demo to book an appointment on Wednesday. Regardless of how or when I’ve asked it’s been like pulling teeth to get any information. Still have no clue what my rank is or even if a car is possible this year. Ordered advance model in early April. I know as of end of April they had 21 orders in Winnipeg. No clue as to where I am in there, or advance vs performance either. Really not the “service” I was expecting after reading all the information Genesis puts out regarding their business plan based upon customer satisfaction and trying to not just be a luxury brand but bringing a luxury experience to the customer. I have previously felt better cared for at Audi and even VW from previous purchases.

Congrats on taking delivery. Must be very exciting.

There is a fair bit different. I'm not sure how consequential it is, though.

What's the mileage on your car when it was delivered?
It was about 50km. It was at 16km while at the dealership. The salesperson drove it to my place, adding another ~35.

My build order increased from 161 to 150 from June 7 to June 18 so looks it's they're delivering about one per day. This is for the performance.

Quick question, does anyone know if we can change the speedometer from km/hr to miles/hr and vice versa? I am considering buying the car in the US as I will be working there for a year or so.

I was surprised to see delivery of GV60 in Canada. I preordered in FEB and received an email this month saying YOUR GENESIS IS EXPECTED FOR JULY PRODUCTION.

Has anyone moved from Ioniq 5 to GV60? I currently have Ioniq 5 and reviews of GV60 appearance is mixed..ugly? Login • Instagram

I believe there is an option for units on the dash. I will try to remember to check next time I’m in the car.
