GV70 2.5 rear end noise

Anybody have this issue on a 2023 model? Though I doubt they changed anything for 23.
I have a 2023 2.5 and am having the differential replaced. Same issues.

edit (09/07/2023):

Well it ended up sadly and I traded the car with a chunky loss on. Leave and learn I guess.

Whining noise started immediately (400-500 miles) and called nearest dealer 70 miles away and service manager told me he never heard this issue. I didn’t want a take my car there if they have no idea what they are going to look for.

So I called the dealer I bought the car from almost 140 miles away L and service manager was very nice and he knew the problem but first appointment was 1.5 month away. Okay I wait no big deal, than they called me and saying I might not (most likely not) have a loaner.
That moment and dealers distance made me decide GV70 has to go, it's incredible that Genesis keep using same faulty differential again, again and again and they keep getting the same results (kind of insanity maybe?).

Dealer sold the car already and had no concern or sympathy what I was going through, after car sold they don’t want a know you they don’t want a hear from you (this was my experience with the dealer i bought from and i'm sure some good ones out there)

I started reading more people having this issue which some of them already fixed or changed whatever (rear differential or transfer case) problem might be yet problem still keep coming back.

I just didn’t want a go that route especially considering the dealership situations and same faulty differential they keep using.

My GV70 is gone and I don’t want a hear or see anything related to Genesis. It’s very sad that very promising product did ended up like this for me.

2023 GV70 Prestige Sport. We, too, are awaiting delivery of a 3rd diff to arrive. Dealer tech confirmed same problem as previously--noise, whining, etc. Haven't had the car 12 months yet. So, although we like many options on the car, it seems that being on the third diff in less than a year is an indicator of poor quality, possible design defect; delivery of parts is uncertain, and days without the car is an issue as there have not been loaners available. Wish we had seen others' complaints prior to purchase.
Latest update on our 2023 GV70 Prestige Sport which we bought new July, 2022: Have had the GV70 just shy of 14 months. Have had the original differential replaced, plus 3 replacements (total of 4 on the same car). The 4th replacement has developed the whining noise and this time, the whine seems louder. We have 21,000 miles on the car and 4 diffs. The two dealers we have used have acknowledged the whine and replaced the diff. But it is time consuming to go back/forth for this repair. Looked at the repair docs and same part was used. Like the style, appearance, and the technology of the GV70 and people always say that it's a great looking car. Sadly, this has been our experience.

Yeah, I'm waiting on my 3rd to be installed now. I do not understand how they can't fix this problem - it must be costing them a fortune to not fix it!

Hey, what happened to the second one? I thought all was good with that one, I guess it crapped out too?

Yup, I was good up to about 20,000 KM - and then I heard it again. They have since looked at it and found filings in the rear diff fluid and agreed it needed to be replaced again.

Oh man, this will never go away. What a shame! What is Genesis thinking??!! This is really messed up…

So after replacing the differential at about 11,000 miles the sound came back .They replaced the transfer case. The sound came back and they replaced the rear differential again. Not sure that fixed it but less than 1000 miles later I heard the whining sound the same as before.
It’s at the dealer and Genesis is involved . I was told that Genesis wants the tech to adjust the pinion in the differential so it is front loaded .
The dealer has been good to me and every time I got a nice loaner Driving a GV80 .
The main reason I am posting this is not to complain but wonder if anyone else has had an adjustments to differential rather than replacement ? If so how did it go ?

First time I hear about it. As far as I know all have diff replacements.

When I first heard the whine, the tech did an adjustment to the drivetrain (he didn't really specify) and the whine went away. I was very happy until the whine came back a couple of hundred km later. They replaced the differential and it has been quiet so far (knock on wood).

I read through most of the posts, but it got a bit tedious. Does anybody know exactly what the problem is and/or which bearing is making the noise? I assume it is a pinion bearing from the way it is acting, but I might pursue a different course if this happens more than once (ie: repair it myself with a different brand of bearing).

There are two sounds I hear. One is the rear diff at about 85 KM/H when slightly accelerating. The other is a bit louder noise when I'm in ECO mode and take my foot off the gas so I am coasting. They fixed the second issue by tightening and adjusting other rear end bolts...but damage has been done to the rear diff already so they are replacing it on Wednesday.

I asked what happens when I'm doing my 5th replacement after the warranty expires (okay, getting a bit sarcastic) and they said because the original problem was identified while under warranty, replacements would still be covered under warranty.

I have asked to get this in writing.

I just got my car from service where they state it has the diff issue and the TSB 23-DS-004G-1 first states to order a repair kit. It seems that repair kit includes 2 bolts and a nut which is going to take up to 2 weeks to come in.

They stated if the repair kit does not fix the issue then a full diff replacement will be required.

Picked the gv70 up with the new rear diff. After 10 mins, this new one is worse then the original. This now howls really loud, like really loud while accelerating, coasting and decelerating. At all speeds. Original one made noise only when feathering the gas.
Taking it back tomorrow, we waited 5 weeks for this one to get here. Not happy at all.
Man, that sucks! Ours is going in next week. So far only the 'check LS rear end' warnings, not noise...
2023 3.5 with all options.

I don't know...sounds like an attempt to distract from the real problem - 2 bolts aren't going to fix this problem.

I am having the same faint sound especially when I am coasting with slightest acceleration or sometimes when the car is slowing down. I took it to the dealer and they said they were not able to replicate after trying multiple times, I got fed up and brought the car back.
Has anyone in SF bay area dealt with a dealer who is aware of this issue? Please recommend.

I had a similar TSB done on my vehicle . The service manager mentioned some gaskets as well. The work was performed and so far no noise . Hoping it addressed the issue .

Ask the dealer to have a tech ride with you to demonstrate the noise. Drive on roads smooth enough that road noise won’t be too loud and at the speeds you heard the noise. I found I heard it slightly above 50MPH ( 52). When I let off the accelerator I could plainly hear the whine .

If that doesn’t work every time you hear the whine you can tell the Genesis if you don’t stop whining I am going to turn the car right around :)

Had my 2022 2.5t advanced Rear Differential replaced at the Fayetteville, NC dealer in September, and so far after 2k miles no whine at 50 MPH when letting off accelerator.

I hate to hear so many are having continued problems even after replacement. I had mine replaced several months ago and have had no issues. While having routine maintenance a couple times, the rear diff replaced, and the throttle body replaced, I’ve gotten the G70 (2.0 and the 3.3) and the GV80 as loaners. While it’s always a PITA to not have my vehicle, buying my GV70 is still the best choice between those I’ve driven. I’m also glad Genesis is standing by their growing pains. In the end I think they’ll get their act together.

Interesting...I've had two rear diffs replaced and the throttle body as well...and the steering rack... I noticed my first rear diff noise almost immediately at 1200 KM. It was fine until about 20,000 KM then it went again. I probably have more miles on mine than average...now have 28,000 KM.
