  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

For close up pics, see my earlier post #16 in this thread. The quality, fit and finish of the plastic and aluminum is much better and similar to Thule racks which I've owned in the past. More engineering went into the design/function especially for the clamping mechanism. I think the Turtle rack looks better and doesn't detract from the next level finish and appearance of the GV70
I think your Amazon rack is functional and my guess is that it will hold up. Roof racks are simple devices.

Just get thule!
Thule racks are great. I"ve owned a few on prior vehicles.
I don't need the extra bar that protrudes beyond the clamps/feet. I prefer a cleaner/more streamline look.

I see. Can you explain a bit further what didn’t you like or how the eBay one are superior. I may switch as well. Do you think Amazon one will not hold up?

Any close up pics you can share of eBay ones?

Thanks
Here's a video showing the design.

Just as a follow up, I got the Turtle Air 2 for my GV70. Fit perfect and quality seems good. maybe a step below what Thule makes, but seem very solid and save some money. Went with the thule XL box. The fit is perfect and already went on three trips.

As another follow up. I posted I had purchased the Turtle Air 2 for my GV70. I noticed the dent shown below after one use. Wonder if anyone has similar issues. Not concerned about how it looks but wonder about the strength & integrity if it dented this easily. I have reached out to the company to see if they had any comment or willingness to replace.

I haven't added anything to it yet. Will follow up when I do.

what did the company say about the dent?
what do you believe caused the dent?
what is the material that dented made out of?
what carrier were you using and how much weight was in it at the time it dented?

Just as a heads-up, these do not fit. I expected a bit of a risk ordering them because I couldn't tell if the GV70 rail is considered flush or shallow groove; we have a shallow grove.

Do not order this or any of the copies of these, like this one as well: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08GSD1T2S/?th=1

More than likely, our rails are similar to the Hyundai Tucson's like other folks have had success with.

Definitely get Thule...I tried some cheaper bars once...paid the price. Since then always Thule, and yes, they have been available on Thule's website for some time.

Can anyone share photos of the Thule one? Thanks!

I got the XL box but I also got a family of four snowboarders so I need the space :) You can always go smaller.

Thanks for the pics Kong37. Just wanted to confirm that you do have the Thule Motion XT XL and that it does fit on the GV70. I ordered one and am hoping it's not too big! Thank you in advance!

Can anyone confirm that they are able to fit the Thule Motion XT XL on their GV70?

Thanks!

Does anyone one have a photo of of their roof rack while looking at the full front side of car head on vs at an angle? Thanks!

Hopefully someone in this thread can help. With the GV70 I am going down in size a bit ahead of plan and looking to add a roof box for that extra carrying space I need about 3 or 4 times a year. I don’t really like the looks of the cross bars to leave them in place all year so wondering how easy is it to take them on and off. Is this a bad practice from a safety side (wear and tear). Time to take off and on. Any other advice
