If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

GV70 (USA) Build Configurator Now Available

Could be, and I agree that people might be ready to buy it, only if the price of a 2.5T fully loaded trim is under ~47-48k or lower. I don't think that'll happen, it will probably be closer to ~50K which makes this not worth the price unless the driving dynamics is amazing. The Q5 for this year is a mild-hybrid by default. But yeah let's see what happens in the end. If the price is around 50K, new Tucson/SantaFe(Calligraphy) seem more worth the money
My wife's 2017 Santa Fe Sport is ready for an upgrade and I was eagerly awaiting the GV70 as we don't need the larger platform of the GV80. We've had a 2015 Genesis sedan and a G70 Prestige and after many generations of Audis, have been impressed with the quality and value of the brand.

Friday we went to our local Hyundai/Genesis dealer with the intent of getting in the queue for a full loaded 3.5 Prestige Sport as that was the only model that was configured with all the features we wanted. Ideally, we would have wanted a 2.5 Prestige but the configurator shows that there are only black interiors available in that model, regardless of exterior color. Additionally, no rear seat heaters or heads-up-display are available at that level, only the fully loaded 3.5 Prestige Sport. Seems like a lot to spend (still don't know how much) for those three features.

While at the dealership, the new Hyundai Santa Fe Calligraphy caught our eye. We drove one. We bought it. Hampton metallic Gray with tan/black interior. There are no options on the car. They're all standard at the Calligraphy level of trim. Rear seat heaters: check. HUD: check. Light colored leather interior: check. The 2.5 engine is the same engine in the GV70 but de-rated to 266 HP at the same torque spec. It's connected to the AWD system through a wet clutch 8 speed auto with paddle shifters. The performance is impressive. It's essentially a 70% scale Palisade with a better engine.

Anybody that is looking at the 2.5 GV70 should give the Calligraphy a look. It isn't a Genesis, true, but is shares a lot of it's components and at $42K, it's a bargain vs: any of the competition, and I'm not easily impressed.

Thought I should share this with the community.

Thanks for sharing. Do you know if it's the same HUD technology in the Sante Fe Caligraphy versus GV70/80? How does the Napa leather compare?

I'm not familiar with the HUD in the GV80 but the Calligraphy is similar to the HUD in my G70. You can align the icons in the field and select what you want displayed. A lot of data available for display. The mph display turns a sort of orange/red color if you should exceed the speed limit. Seems to do this at about 10% over the posted limit but it's not distracting. I don't find where this "feature" can be turned off but it's probably not a bad idea in a car that

The premium Nappa leather is equal to the quality and pattern in my G70. Included is a faux suede head liner. Very nice. Very quiet. It's a nice place to spend time.

Thanks Billbert! Didn't even know that trim existed! Unlike the GV70 2.5T Advanced, the Santa Fe Calligraphy has a fully digital instrument cluster, with Blind Spot Camera displays appropriately on left or right (depending upon direction turning). The HUD is also standard. Alas, no inventory within 250 mi of Tampa for a "look see" and test drive.

Also, it appears the forthcoming 2021 Santa Fe Hybrid will also offer the Calligraphy trim option!

We drove a 2.5 GV80 mostly to understand how that little 4 banger did in hauling that big platform around. It wasn't neck snapping but it definitely got the job done. As I said, the engine in our Santa Fe is rated with less horsepower but the same torque spec as the GV70/80. I would guess that's primarily due to engine management software but that's a topic for another day.

I'm certain the GV70 will have a higher trim level and material selection than our Santa Fe but I'd venture to guess that if you want to get a sense of what the GV70 will be like, drive one of these.

Santa Fe Calligraphy or Limited HEV look quite interesting. Will test drive a Calli later this week. I suspect a GV70 2.5T Advanced will come in >$10k over the Calli. Worth it? We’ll see when the GV70 hits the lots, if I make it that long LOL.

That is EXACTLY where I sit right now. Waiting for '21 Santa Fe Original Calligraphy Trim (with 20" wheels) Quartz White with Beige Nappa Leather - seems simple yet there are NONE available yet in the entire United States. The wheels are apparently on back order - Hyundai then decided to create a separate Calligraphy (with 19" wheels) as a way to get them out there (MSRP $200 less that Calli w/20" wheels). Even if I chose to accept the one with the 19" wheels..... Quartz White with Beige interior also nowhere within 150 miles.

Love the GV80 - it is a little bit larger than I need so I was thrilled when the GV70 started showing up online as SOON TO BE AVAILABLE. I cannot seem to get any clear accurate answers to a very simple question. WHEN? will I get to make a choice? As of today both vehicles are Non-Existent.

Not sure how long my patience will hold up - Lexus is starting to look pretty damn good at this point

Yes, I'm still planning to take a look at the GV70 when it arrives. I think it is a gorgeous car and it may possibly be worth the difference in price vs: the Calli. That will become a value judgement at the time. We'll have to see what the final GV70 configurations look like. My sense is that some of the feature sets may vary a bit when they hit the market, especially when you look at the KDM and Canadian configurators. It appears that the debut of the GV70 wasn't very well thought out for a product with this much pent up demand.

Check. There are two versions of the Calligraphy. One with 19" wheels, the other with 20" Otherwise, identical. And there are no 20" versions available. Not a biggie for me as the only thing I dislike about the Calli is the wheel design. Ugly. I'll probably find something in the aftermarket I like or see if I can find some of the GV70 sport wheels.

Yes, the Lexus RX 350 was on my list. I didn't go through exercise of pricing out a similarly configured Lexus vs. the Calli or GV70 but it appears that all of the desirable features are bundled in option groups. By the time you get to equal configurations, you will be well into the mid - $50K range. Plus, they seem to be EVERYWHERE. No exclusivity in spite of the price point.

Sad to see nothing has changed from the NA G70 launch. It was a HUGE deal for that to come out, and Genesis has still learned nothing

It's a shame, I might not get the GV70 because of this. I don't want the 3.5TT. I don't want to spend more than 50K since I can get everything for 50K from Q5, GLC, X3. It just doesn't make sense to me to spend close to 60K which is what 3.5TT is gonna be to get the features
You're not going to get a an engine as powerful in a GLC for 50K, you'd have to step up to the AMG 43. Looks like you're not interested in the extra power though, so as you say, one of the German makes might be better suited for you.
