GV80 Bugs & Other Issues

Ed

If you criticize Apple for holding other manufacturers hostage, why is it OK for Genesis to do the same???

I've had the car for four days and there are a number of irritating and upsetting issues with it.
Notably, lousy, lousy gas mileage (I can see a class action suit coming on that issue), an app that suddenly doesn't work anymore, and an owner's website that now can't find my car! And to top it all off, none of the dealers know much about the cars either.
If I had paid $30-40k for the car, I wouldn't mind so much, but I didn't. I paid over $70K. Not good enough, I'm afraid. Not good enough.
Who is Genesis holding hostage? What does gas mileage have to do with Apple not allowing some of their code to be integrated? Genesis has an EPA mileage rating the like everyone else is under laboratory conditions. If you want good fuel mileage, buy a Prius.

No idea what you are talking about a website that can't find you car. I keep mine in the garage so I know where it is.

Who is Genesis holding hostage? ...
I believe they were talking about how certain things just have an apple premium and that lots of apps don't make it over to iPhone, or are late to be supported. Not validating the rant the person had but i do agree that the apple tax is real for consumers and software developers alike.(I am a software dev and iPhone apps are more costly to get setup)

Edit: This is why the NFC from iphone does not work for Genesis etc...

Apple stuff works, no question about that. Going back some years there were q lot of DOS and Windows programs that were junk. Apple would not allow that to happen with their high standards.

My point is, don't blame Genesis for not supporting Apple products when they often will not allow or charge high prices for a license.

Totally agree.

That said, I hope they work on their app. It has so much potential, but happy they have one and that it works(mostly), though a little slow.

Has anyone noticed that the second row carpet mat doesn’t fit right?
Ours does not fit as well. Sent a note to customer care, no response as of yet.

I think Speeder may be right. Exposure to heat this summer may solve the issue. Technically, it‘s almost a perfect fit if you push it into place - it just won’t stay cuz it’s pretty plush. I think I won’t complain about that. :) Maybe I’ll try to hurry it up with a small application of a heat gun or hair dryer.

New issues. Not sure if any one has experienced these yet? The dash lights up like a Christmas tree and flashes lots of different warnings while also loosing driving instruments for a split second. This started happening driving down the highway. Between the less than ideal roughish ride and this, I definitely don't feel safe in the car anymore. 😢

Seems like that is probably a CAN bus problem.

Had a similar experience with a new 2016 Cadillac ATS-V (4 days old) which ended up being a poorly seated pin in one of the CAN Bus connectors. Unfortunately it took >week to find it. Now, 5.5 years and 60K miles later it's still fine.

Noticed most of these when I test drove a 3.5T prestige - excluding the gas mileage of course

Tester did have a driver massage function - it was meh...
Also, I'm pretty sure the 2nd row I saw had a middle seat.
Crystal ball thingy is slippery, as someone else noted. The handwriting worked pretty well for the most part, no complaints there.

UI seems complex, could take some time to get used to

Anyone else notice the demon eyes staring back from the 3d cluster? Most video reviews say it's not visible but I see it clearly in person.
The crystal ball thingy is slippery, Glove box too small, Gas mileage lower than expected, and I have also noticed the turbo delay. Also, I have definitely noticed the demon eyes. They grab my attention often while driving.

You have to wonder too why the console needs to be so wide. I find it massive and overwhelming in test drives.

There’s no hidden bar no umbrella in the door I might just have to trade this thing in. Let me think about it……nah.

I do agree the glove box is quite small, but not a deal breaker. I have the 2.5T and the gas mileage is good for the HP with premium in ECO mode. The V6 guzzles gas though for sure(had a loaner). I have the regular gauges and even on the test drive preferred it.

Love the model, but I've had a lot of issues and they are going to try to fix them(though most are intermittent and they cannot "duplicate") but at this point I'm just waiting for the next thing to break. Still drives a little rough. Going into the dealership soon for the above issue with the dashlight warnings. Will see what happens but I can already tell they are going to make me work very very hard for any chance at a buy back.

Edit: i should note though, if I get a buyback my dumb butt is going back for another GV80 as I like it so much and believe I just got a lemon. 🍋

Let us know what the service dept discovers, our fan is noticeably loud when idling. A number of people have commented on how loud it is. We had a similar issue with our Range Rover Velar that ended up is a software fix.

I had the exact same thing happen yesterday - 3.5t adv with 1500 miles. Have a video just like yours. Took it to the dealer to scan for codes. Nothing. They had not seen this issue before.

This is exactly what I experienced. Not fun when it happens. Curious, in your video it's sunny. Was is raining at all, any wet puddles you went over etc...?

It happen to me on a wet day. So I was thinking a short or as the guy said above maybe a loose CAN Bus.

74f and sunny and dry. Weather was not an issue. Continued for about 15 minutes. Has not done it again, but it’s only been two days.

Dealer did a scan and no codes. Dealer said that every time Genesis does an over the air update they get a dozen calls with cars doing weird things… never seen our issue though. They say that the issues seem to always be temporary. We shall see. I wanted to get a video and take it to the dealer to make sure there was a paper trail.

... dealer to make sure there was a paper trail.
Yep, bringing it to the dealer tomorrow. I hope there is at least something they can find and fix.

Maybe it was a fluke, it happened literally the day after it was at the dealership as it always subtlely feels like driving on gravel. Sucks loosing faith in a car so early in its mileage. No consumer protection where I am. I noticed the ride being rougher a week after I drove it off the lot. I didn't buy a new car to sit in the shop all the time. Keeping my composure, but it is very mentally draining thinking about the issues 24/7. The vehicle has already depreciated like 15k so no trade-in opportunity either.

Update: So far service says... it needs a new battery 🤦‍♂️ send help.
