Absolutely. But there is at least an expectation for C&D to function as a somewhat credible motoring news outlet, since that's what they've tried to position themselves as since their inception. That expectation was never there for Redline Reviews or any of the Youtube reviewers- we just want them to drive cars, give the basic information on how things work inside, and more importantly their driving assessments and comparisons. And the professionals have been known to get a good amount of things wrong.
The same way you 'think' you know it wasn't made up..that's how.....and what difference does that make? It being taped before pricing was released doesn't change the fact that it was uploaded today (or yesterday as of now)- had he actually cared that much about giving the correct price, he would have changed it in editing or at least mentioned it in the description. He's had two weeks to get it done, and never even bothered. YEH and I have pointed out more than a few things wrong with his facts, so him being wrong about the price is the least of his inaccuracies.
Redline Reviews is not and has never been a professional journalist news outlet like Car and Driver or Road and Track. It's purely a review channel, just as its name implies. Citing him for news is like citing Doug Demuro. You know, the guy who claimed that the refreshed G90 was a brand new generation?
And you know this how?

It was a guess. They even said it was a guess. They guessed wrong. They had to float some number. It was link bait to make you think C&D knew something so you keep clicking on them. Now that they have been shown to be wrong, these same folks will continue to accept what they say as fact even when they say “We'd guess a starting price ...”I know, I know, the $65k was just a rumor, but as someone said here, it’s doubtful that Car and Driver would float that number with no insider info.
People here still can't read even a C&D article. They said they'd guess on the STARTING price. SmhIt was a guess. They even said it was a guess. They guessed wrong. They had to float some number. I wouldn't let $5000 hold me back from my dream vehicle. Maybe if I had to put an extra $5k DOWN, but spread out over several years, I wouldn't let it hold me back. What is it, an extra $100 a month? I don't know. I'd make it work...

I had a dealer calling me in 30 minutes after I clicked submit on the genesis site. A genesis rep called me in 10 minutes and confirmed my preferences first. You should have been given choice what dealer to work with at some point, I was.It will be interesting to see how this all shakes out. Right now I don't know anyone who's going into any dealership unless they need service. Everyone I have spoken with who is ready for a new car is putting it off. With the market taking the plunge and a recession POSSIBLY happening, the entry lux market MAY be hit. I do think that this segment will take a bit of a hit unless things can get back to semi normal within 60 days or so. I wonder if they will delay the debut's in NA?
Such a difficult situation. I wonder how many of their pre orders will even purchase. I did a preorder and got an email from Genesis and then NOTHING. It's been crickets which I find interesting. That's not a great look as I'm as serious as most about this SUV, but if the company wants to ignore me, then I can find a vehicle elsewhere.
This is from the email: "
Thank you for taking this exciting first step toward owning the first-ever Genesis GV80. A Genesis Retailer will contact you in the near future to finalize your reservation."
Dated 3/5/20....
It's hard to believe that the dealer didn't get back to me that day as most of you had gotten. The 5th was well before the US decided they needed to do anything and it was business as usual. I think I've been a bit pissed over this and then you look for reasons.....
Has anyone else gotten this email when going online to reserve and then heard nothing at all?
You're right - it IS a lot of money for an automobile. Prices are just crazy nowadays. Then again, it seems everything is expensive. The way I see it is if I'm going to spend $65k on something - $70k is just a small increment up. But everyone is different.Sam, I get it, but that's a lot of money for a car. $100 takes any car to a new level, even for those who have it. I don't think it will take that much business away from them, but it will prevent many from getting one. That's with any car.
True, true... Very true... The competition probably loves the fact that the GV80 is somewhat expensive. But perhaps they'll start raising there prices as a result. And higher and higher we go.while there is truth in the numbers being not so far off, that bump puts a lot of other comps in the field. 70k buys more than 65k does. It puts the GV80 in a segment of comps that are compelling, especially considering discounts those comps offer.
I looked at a loaded Aviator Reserve II, MSRP was more, but the dealer offered $4k discount right off the batt, making it less.
I'm not sure why you're so keen on the Aviator when it's been widely documented as an extremely unreliable vehicle with a mountain of glitches and horrendous build quality issues that would make a Tesla blush. Didn't you say some time ago that your top priority was a reliable vehicle that you could keep for a decade? Not sure how the Aviator qualifies. I have much more faith in the Asian brands to make a dependable vehicle than whatever Ford churns out.I looked at a loaded Aviator Reserve II, MSRP was more, but the dealer offered $4k discount right off the batt, making it less.
I’m not keen on it. I drove it, didn’t like it, moving on. It is a comp, regardless of how little you like it.I'm not sure why you're so keen on the Aviator when it's been widely documented as an extremely unreliable vehicle with a mountain of glitches and horrendous build quality issues that would make a Tesla blush. Wow... it's almost like it isn't out yet or something. At least I can drive one, research reviews from real neutral press and actual owners, research actual reliability, and buy it today. Can’t do any of that on the GV80.
What didn't you like about it. I love the interior and exterior - and it's nice to see a high performance version available. Maybe you could do a comparison if you ever drive the GV80.I’m not keen on it. I drove it, didn’t like it, moving on.
