Had Brake Fluid Done and Also ECM update ????

I took my car in yesterday and the Brake Fluid changed per the TSB. They also said I needed an ECM update. I asked what that was for and they honestly didn't know. Anyone here know what the ECM update was for?

- P0456 : Evaporative Emission System-Leak detected (very small leak)
