If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Hankooks now a safety recall.

Is there a definitive "end date" on when we have to get the tires swapped?

There never was an end date listed when it was a "ride" issue offer, but once this recently moved to an actual safety recall, I would suspect there will no no end date. Going to be hard for Hyundai/Hankook to say you can't have a replacement for a tire that can cause injury or death.

Makes sense, thanks. Looks like I'll probably be waiting another month or two.......unless the Hankooks do start cracking or whatever.

The cost of changing brands is close to $0. Mine actually ended up as a $5 credit after rebates. I think there was a $40 spread for a set between the 2 tires i was looking at and the free tire they would give us. For that, pick what you want.

I just got my tires replaced at Discount Tire today. I went with the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3, and with only 30 miles or so on them, I already like them way better than the Hankooks. They're a bit softer in the corners, but much smoother overall, especially over bumps/RR tracks/etc.

I had to pay for two of them though, because only two of my tires were OEM. Last fall, my wife took the Genesis over a curb and destroyed two tires and two rims (among other things).

There, fixed that for you.

i had the Hankook Optimo and from my experience i think its a horrible tire.. its a very loud tire and at highway speeds can be annoying. Haven't heard bad things about the Ventus but i do know many people with 20's go the Ventus or Nitto tire etc...

I finally bit the bullet and after 20K miles, I put the Michelin MXW4's on my leased G2...the nearest Discount Tire was an hour away and I pressed my dealer as hard as I could (or could stand) to consider an alternate although Hankook was agreeable to an upgrade....Anyway...at my prescribed 33psi they ride and sound as well as the Hankooks, with which I was very pleased). They should last through the end of the lease...with no expense to me....No more from me on this topic unless I become dissatisfied along the way....Take care, all.

Had the right rear tire separate on me last night on the way home from work. It never lost air pressure. I hear this loud slapping under the car so I reduced speed while checking the tire pressures and found them all up to pressure. I get out and walk around the car and all looks good. I look under the car from the rear and seen about a 1" wide band of tire (360 degrees) wrapped around the brake housing with a portion of it still attached to the tire.

Dropped it off this morning for the recall, oil change, Auto Butler and new hood shock that was rusted. Won't know until this afternoon whether it will be done today or not. They said (as usuall) that they will give me a loaner tonight if not finished. Wallace Hyundai in Stuart is an awesome dealership. Both sales and service.

tried NTB and sears auto, both of them wined and wouldn't work with me, called up the closest DT to Virginia and the process couldn't have been smoother. The recall info was right in his PC.

MY DWS 06's are on order and once they come in i'll just take the 3 hr drive to NC, Visit some family while i'm there to make it a Win-Win

Got my letter in the mail last week and booked my car in for service this morning in London, ON.

Upon arrival was informed they had not ordered the tires properly. They have to be ordered by VIN number and then the original tires have to be removed and destroyed by the dealer with proof to Hyundai.

Interesting in that I've been complaining about ride quality since I got the car last November (16,036 km's as of this morning)

I have been told I'll be getting Michelin's but don't know which ones (if anyone knows please let me know)

If you have the 3.8, you'll get the Michelin MXW4s.....mine are working well...inflated to 32-33 psi cold.

I was advised by my dealership (Canada) this morning that the voluntary tire swap is now a safety recall.

Apparently, flatspotting is not the only issue and now they've added sidewall splitting. Letters are supposed to be going out within the month to all owners of vehicles built up to January 2015 (but don't quote me on those dates).

I found this out because I was in a dispute with my dealership over having to have the tires swapped since they had gone ahead and ordered new ones without advising me and were now threatening to return the tires and cancel the order.

Take it for what it's worth.

My 2 right tires blew out after I hit one small pot hole turning onto a road. The quality of the tires on the 2015 is bad. I have continental tires and they did the same thing as what the Hancocks did

It is not the quality of the tires, it's the road quality and the buying publics' desire for wider profile tires that provide so little flex in the sidewalls.

My personal opinion is that Hyundai's going to the 45 series tires (at least on the 3.8 cars) when the Lotus engineers re-designed the suspension was a mistake; 55 series are wide enough for a luxury car.

took a 2 hr trip to the closest DT.cost was 330 out the door which includes the difference in price between the DWS and oem's,the lifetime replacement warranty with rotations and balances

took them about an hour

UPDATE:

I went with the Contis that were part of the tire swap. Still have the minor flat spotting issue as I had with the Hankooks. It goes away rather quickly. As far as ride and noise I see no better, or no worse than the Hankooks. They were free so I'm not complaining. I noticed that the bill to Hyundai for the recall was just over $1220. Under the fine print for the Conti warranty it states that due do these tires are on a staggered (5.0 only) car, they are only warranted for 32,500 miles (pro-rated).

Discount Tire today (Phoenix): no charge to trade the Hankooks for Continental extreme contact DWS 06 which were listed at $175/tire.

The salesman pulled their technical bulletin that says "no charge for replacement" which he interpreted as no upper limit on the cost of the replacement tire.

Re: Problems with the NEW TIRES

Is anyone having problem with the replacement tires after the Hancock recall? My car drove so smooth until they put these on. Bounce starts at 60 and gets worse the faster I go. Not a shimmy felt in the wheel, but a slight bounce in my seat - you can see it in the visor and the passenger seat when unoccupied. Anyone else have issues with their new tires? Mine were fine before the recall!

Ifyou don't feel it in the wheel, it Is likely the rear tire balance. Have them check it again before giving up on the replacement tires....what tires did you get?
