  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Simple question:

Have you had problems with your Genesis since you bought it, and if so, how many and what kind? Please feel free to reply w/ the further details/info.

And guys, lets keep this civil. There has been way to much bickering and infighting around here lately IMO.

FWIW, I've had zero problems aside from a very small (less than the side of a tic tac) paint defect that was promptly fixed under warranty. I selected no problems in the poll simply because that is what I feel most closely resembles my experience thus far after nearly 13 months of ownership.

dead battery/stupid owner.

Just experienced a "check engine" lite due to an improperly sealing gas cap. I consider this a minor issue since it occured 7/13 and new cap will be in 7/15, should be a 2 min. install. After 8 months I am extremely impressed and satisfied with my Genny!!!

Problems that I have caused...

-melted fog light housings
-found out all tires were overpressurized and after spinning, the center of the rear tires were shot...not too bad though
-bluetooth issue...was my phone and not the car

Its always me...not the car! Problem is...I cant keep my hands off of it! :)

The only problem I have had was my amplifier was overheating and causing my sound to not work until it cooled down again. It was in the shop for 3 days - Everything else is smooth sailing :)

No sound from sounfd system Dealer replaced amplifier, under warranty, working fine since the replacement.

Funny how 5 people voted they had a few problems, yet I don't think any of them posted what problems they had.

Come on guys, speak up! :)

I'm one of the "few minor problems" responses, which involved things like a poorly-installed door seal and an intermittent failure of the fuel door switch. In both cases, the dealer fixed me up quickly, and these kind of issues have happened to me with BMWs, too, so no complaints here. After nearly one year of ownership, I'm still very pleased with this car and my decision to buy it.

The only problem is that the GPS occasionally loses data (addresses) that have been entered. It is still doing it. I have had one TSB performed but I think there may be others that have not been performed. I have no clue what the one TSB was supposed to do and neither did the service writer. When I told him that the GPS loses data he said he never heard of such a problem but maybe the TSB would fix it since he didn't know what it was supposed to do.

The little plastic flap that springs up and covers the Trunk Lid latch (Actually in the trunk, not on the lid) fell in the first day we owned the car. It litterally is as small a problem you could have.

Tires out of balance and squeak caused by arm rest on drivers side door. Other then that, I love the car and really love all of the power.

I also had the bad Amp in my car which caused no sound periodically. Very happy so far...

I had 4 problems that should have be found during PDI.

1. The rear axle seal was leaking from the rear differential for about the 1st 75 miles. I am possitive that it was leaking before I received the car. The car had to be towed to the dealer and the seal was replaced in 2.5 days. They didn't offer to give me a loaner and the car wasn't even washed. I'm worried that some damage may have been done to the rearr differential due to lose of oil. (Only a 5 year warranty in Canada)

2. The antifreeze was not filled up after the block heater was added. The overflow tank had to be filled up an additional two times.

3. Needed a wheel alignment. Pulled to the left.

4. Lots of blue sticky packing tape had to be removed.

Other than the diff seal, these sound like the handiwork of a sloppy dealer service department. They clearly haven't gotten the message about the customer experience...

My issue hasn't been corrected yet. Took it in to the dealer on July 3rd for a seat belt warning light/chime that stays on. They said they fixed it, picked up the vehicle and 1 mile down the road it came on again. Took it back 1 week later, they said it was the seat belt latching unit ( the part that you snap the buckle into) and they would need to order it, maybe 2-3 days.

It's now July 16th, they called and said that it might not be here until Monday, July 20th. Asked the service writer why they don't carry parts at the dealership he says the model is to new to carry any. he also tells me that all the parts come from Korea and not from any US Hyundai parts distribution center.

I also have the audio system lock up that cannot be investigated until it actually happens again and then I have to drive it over straight to the dealership so they can try to see what's going on.

I'm disappointed reading all the problems we are having with this car, I'm disappointed in my local dealership, and to be honest, have yet to enjoy this vehicle because as I drive it, I'm anticipating what's going to malfunction next. Hopefully when this item gets repaired and permanently fixed that I will start to feel better. But as of now, not really impressed/satisfied with my purchase and dealings with Hyundai.

my a/c blows warm air when i'm driving slow or at a stop. my passenger side speaker rattles a lot.

My only issue thus far is a sometimes noisy sun shade!:)

The car is in shop waiting for a replacement gps unit. The factory unit was not receiving a signal. This problem was there when we purchased the car. The dealer is also installing the missing trim panel in the trunk, for free...

I've had some minor audio issues--details posted elsewhere--but the other issues were dealer-caused (scratched rim on Premium-Plus pkg--they replaced it). All that occurred when they found I had a tire with a slipped belt. Scratch (actually a pretty deep gouge) occurred when they changed the tire. I had them look at a pin stripe they put on--it was peeling off the front passenger side. They fixed it.

Come August 2, it will be one year since I've purchased this car (I bought the first one in Knoxville, TN, where I live), and I enjoy getting into it and driving it every bit as much as I did on day one! I still get "ooos" and "ahhs"....it's really great!

As posted on my previous thread.

My big issue was my DIS, audio, gps and phone all quit working -
the head unit had to be replaced. I only had 1,200 miles when this occurred

Took about 5 days b/c of a weekend.

the dealership actually has been great through out with calls to update me with findings and planned repair. They did provide a loaner.

this was my first Hyundai purchase and 4th new car purchase. I have never had an issue of any sort this early into the ownership of a new vehicle - in fact I have not had any issues at all except for regular maintainance.
