Had the problem of the seat belt chime going off even though I was buckled up. This happened on the way home after taking delivery of the car. Made a service appointment but the problem seemed to resolve itself so I cancelled the appointment. One week later, the problem persisted. Service stated that it was the sensor in the receiving end of the seat belt. It was replaced and so far, no more problems with the chime or anything else. What a GREAT CAR. (platinum/casmire 4.6 with tech)

Had my Genesis for 10 days - appears the electrical system is haunted!

1) On the afternoon of Saturday August 1st exited car normally with seat and steering wheel assist acting normally, returned to car about an hour and a half later and found the seat base all the way forward and the seat back at an alarming angle forward almost touching the steering wheel. Attempts to reposition the seat using seat base adjusters were unsuccessful – no response. Attempted to use seat memory selector, this also did not work. I am 100+ miles from home with no way to drive the car – not very happy with a car I had for 6 days. Squeezed my arms into the floor area to depress the brake with one hand and push the start button with the other – car started and seat went back to memorized position.
2) Same evening as above drove the car a few miles to another location, parked and returned four hours later (now dark) – seat position is OK. Started car, lights in ‘auto” mode, AFLS warning started flashing and continued to do so – looked in manual and noted if light flashing indicates issue in system, see dealer. Shutdown car for 1+ minutes; on restart no flashing AFLS warning. Drove car a few miles to gas station, car shutoff for about 5 minutes on restart AFLS flashing again. Drove car about 15 miles found a place to get off highway and again shutdown car for 1+ minutes on restart no flashing warning light – drove 75 freeway miles more with no further issues. Only one night start has been done with since above issue – no flashing warning this time.
3) Beginning Monday August 3rd during my normal commute to work (50 minute drive) at 7:30 to 8:30 AM on sunny morning I note that auto headlight are cycling on and off with no specific pattern also noted same behavior on commute home – this has continued during all day time driving this week.
4) On the evening of Tuesday August 4th noted that audio occasionally went off. By my commute Wednesday morning all sources of audio were intermittent, by evening commute audio was more off than on. Noted that if audio was on and I initiated a voice command the system would hear and respond but usually telling me the channel or function was unavailable. If I initiated a voice command when audio had gone off I would get this message on the display: "SDS is being prepared in the background. Please try at later time."

Going back to dealer tomorrow!

Actually, the sunroof issue turned out to be improper dealer prep. I mentioned it to a friend who had leased a 3.8 Genny from the same dealer the day before I bought mine, and he told me his did the same thing until he removed a piece of blue protective tape from the sunroof seal. I looked at mine from the outside with the sunroof open, removed the very conspicuous piece of blue protective tape, and - voila - the noise was gone!

I've now had three weeks with the car and made some of the mods you other guys have - 19" Wheels, UHP tires, Window, Headlamp, Taillamp tint, KDM emblems, mudflaps and a Sub for Lexicon system. Car is even more spectacular than I originally thought. I am really satisified and can't believe they can sell something this good, with this much warranty, and still make money on it in comparison to what everybody else is selling cars for. Amazing!

Re: 1&2. Try cracking open the windows to equalize the pressure. Otherwise, the car is basically acting as a wind instrument. Also, you might want to consider adding a sunroof deflector to divert the airstream up and around the open roof.

#3 - Dealer can fix at no charge

#4 - Definitely needs dealer attention

And congrats on the new car!

I'll be damned! Just checked my roof, and lo and behold:

Thanks, edesi56! +1 rep!

If only the dealers were as great as the car. :(

Just experienced a "check engine" lite due to an improperly sealing gas cap. I consider this a minor issue since it occured 7/13 and new cap will be in 7/15, should be a 2 min. install. After 8 months I am extremely impressed and satisfied with my Genny!!!

I had the same issue, took it to the dealer and they id's it immediately. I love my Genesis 4.6L

I noticed this same problem with the AFLS light flashing. Did it a couple of times when I first got the car, but it hasn't done it since.

I am having a problem with the easy in/out function. Sometimes I'll start the car and the seat and steering wheel will not go back to my memorized positions. Sometimes when this happens I can push the memory button, and it works, and sometimes I have to restart the car and then it works.

Going back to dealer tomorrow!

All, by the number here are the results of 2 days at the dealer as stated on the work order (dealer is working with Hyundai USA shown as engineering)

1) Unable to duplicate concern - waiting for call back from engineering
2) Unable to duplicate concern but receive code B2326 - waiting for call back from engineering
3) Possibly related to line 2 but unable to duplicate.
4) Verified concern and screen message ordered an audio amplifier and will call customer when parts arrive.

I love my Gennie despite the strange issues and believe the dealer will continue to work with Hyundai to resolve the issues they were unable to duplicate. I did note a bit of concern regarding item 1, the seat, as it could be a safety issue should someone be in the seat at the time. I believe I saw someone else post this issue in another part of the forum.

I have had a problem with the engine hesitating around 25-40mph. I am driving in automatic mode but the car appears to be waiting to shift. Also, the car also does not coast very well, it has a bit of a drag that slow the car down, is this normal?

I've had an occasional problem with my 4.6 "hanging" in first gear until about 2500 RPM on the very first drive of the day.

As I drive out of my garage, down a gradually sloping driveway and road, if I am accelerating gently, my transmission will "hang" in first gear until it hits about 2500 RPM. After that first occurance it always shifts out of first gear around 1100-1200 RPM under gentle acceleration.

This has occured about 7-8 times, at completely random intervals, since I bought the car on Memorial Day. The only consistency is that it occurs only on the first start of the day, after the car sat in the garage all night, and only if I am gently accelerating. If I'm under moderate acceleration it always makes the shift around 1300-1500 RPM. If I'm "punching" it, the shift point obviously moves up the RPM scale depending on how hard I'm accelerating.

Today, in broad daylight and after about 12 freeway miles past a refueling stop, the AFLS icon started flashing. Turning the AFLS switch off and on had no effect. Made several stops with attendant restarts and the AFLS icon has not flashed since.

I have tried our curving entry road with and without AFLS and I can see absolutelly no difference. I do not believe the system is operating.

Haven't identified whether this is an operator issue or not. When I shut the car off, sometimes driver's assist goes all the way, sometimes part of the way, sometimes not at all. Sometimes, the door buzzer goes off, sometimes it doesn't. Does this have to do with how quickly I open the door?

91 octane.

It did it again this morning.

As I drove down the lane from my house (a slight downslope) with just a hint of accelerator depressed, it revved all the way up to 2600RPM before it shifted to 2nd. I then slowed to stop and tried a gentle acceleration again. This time it shifted at 1300RPM.

It only does it on the first drive of the day, and then only randomly. I have yet to determine a common factor (i.e., how many hours since I last started the car, overnight temperatures, etc.) I've started keeping a log to see if I can find a common factor.

Hmm, that's odd. Obviously the engine behaves differently when it's cold, but not that much. I noticed that the car is smoother and the throttle response is more accurate when I switched from 87 to 91. I think the only thing left to do is take it to the dealer. I doubt it's a transmission problem.

Yep. It's odd. For the past few weeks I've tried to be consistent driving out of the garage so that I'm minimizing the variables. Some mornings it will slip smoothly into 2nd gear right around 1200RPM. Some mornings it "hangs" until 2500RPM.

I've thought about taking it to the dealer, but since it never duplicates after the first start of the morning, and it is completely random when it does occur, I'll probably get a "can not duplicate" from the service department.

For now I'm just gonna keep gathering data and see if I can find a common factor. I always ride with a code reader (habit from my old car). I'm hoping it will throw a pending or hard OBDII code to help isloate the issue (there are 83 codes listed at www.hmaservice.com just for the automatic transmission).

I was one of the few with the passenger seat "pilling". The dealer replaced it without question - it was in the car when I picked it up after the first oil change!

No other problems at all - I love my Genny! :D

I just had a minor problem today. I got in the car and had no sound (radio, cd, phone), turned the car off and back on, still no sound, then drove for about 20 minutes, turned car off, picked up kids (out of car for 5-10 minutes) got back in, sound and everything is working again. Should I plan on taking it in for a bad amplifier?
