In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. 2012 3.8 base sedan I've had for two weeks:

Power driver seat controls are terrible. At least two of the directions don't work without pushing in (toward the central part of the seat) on the control very, VERY hard to get the seat to move in that direction. Happens on my front seat UP control and the recline DOWN control.

I think I know what the problem is, and I'm in no hurry to bring it back to the dealer for repair since I've only had the car for two weeks. I'll give it a month or two before taking it to them.

In the meantime, my sales guy (who was very good, by the way) will get an earfull ...

Still, this car looks awesome in black.
You're not describing normal behavior. Take it in and they will fix it.

Of course.

Thread title didn't specify normal behavior, so I took it to mean it covered any problems, including initial quality. Just trying to contribute.

It's still a relatively expensive car by Hyundai standards, so I still stand by "giving my sales rep an earfull", which was intended as tongue-in-cheek but I should have used an emoticon. I'm not trying to upset anyone. Don't take it personally.

The car is still awesome, and won't be leaving my possession any time soon.

Just recently developed this issue. Haven't had a chance to get car to dealer yet. Car used to start instantly when I pushed the start button but now
turns over 3 or 4 seconds before starting. I thought maybe I had a bad tank of gas but I have refuled 3 times now. Doesn't happen every time either. Maybe like 3 out of 5 times. Any thoughts on this issue? 2009 V6 Premium with 44,000 miles.

Are u on the original battery? Maybe it's dying.

2012 3.8 Tech, sound system "died" on me twice, once when driving off the lot, once last week. 5 people at the dealership were trying to fix it, 2 Genesis owners, and couldn't figure it out. Sales person pulled a fuse off a working new Genny and put it in my car, nobody knows why but it worked (my fuse wasn't blown).

Last week I took a second to piece it all together, pulling the fuse and putting it back in fixes the issue. Read somewhere that holding down the power button for the radio for a few seconds reboots the system...will have to try that sometime.

Another issue, had Genny stuck in private mode when making phone calls, was unable to get the mute switch off no matter what I did.

Narrowed the issue down, after 1 month of constant annoyance, to my phone, LG Lotis Elite, turned the phone off, turned it back on...issue resolved. Phone never gave me issues and was turned off maybe twice in 2 years.

that's all for today.

I haven't read the whole thread but dont just think like its just the Genesis having these NAV issues.

My Acura and others have had a similar issue with there bluetooth pulling the battery down and leaving folk stranded. ACura keep claiming it was a battery issue when is was actually a Bluetooth issue that feel to cut off even though the car was off. This left several people with battery drain. This was dragged out until after the warranty. The part is $750 . I just had mine disconnected to save my battery. No isssue since this but I lost a piece of what I enjoyed back when we purchased in Apr. 06

BTW--
Our entertainment of sort went on the bleak once or twice since Dec 08. A dealer corrected both times under warranty. (El Paso and Lawton OK.)
I posted before there are strength in numbers if you are having issue be sure to keep them clean and in one thread. It work at GM and I figure Hyundai will follow siut to keep issues like this from becoming a problem where people starts to talk.

1) Fuel economy pretty bad so far (I've had the car about 3-4 weeks), getting only 7-8 km/litre or 16.5-19 MPG on mixed city/highway (more city)

2) iPod connection problems where all of a sudden the sound stops even though the display is still showing a song as playing. You have to replug in the iPod to get it to work again.

this is the Sedan forum not the Coupe.

The problem I have is with my iPhone. If I leave it in the car (which I have to do for work) and then get back in, it won't play music. I have to disconnect, then reconnect the cable and then it'll play. I know you can bluetooth stream the music, but then you won't get the song info.

My Check Engine Light came on twice in the last week. Took it to the dealer and they told me they pulled the codes and it was a misfire cylinder. ?
Also this has happened to me about 15 times in the last year: I start the car and the ESC, CEL, EPB and Auto Hold lights stay on and I cannot shift out of park. I have to restart the car several times before they go away, sometimes the CEL stays on.. Dealer says they can't diagnose as they cannot replicate the problem.

I'm in the seldom answered 'Way too many to count. This car is a headache!' category. That's not to say I don't love my car; I do! I would rather be driving it then taking it to the shop. Only a few were manufacturing defects however. Below is my compiled list:

- Random Engine Misfire. Complete long block replacement.

- Excessive sunroof wind noise. Adjusted and fixed by dealer.
- Squeaky drivers seat. Not repaired yet, but dealer had car for 8 hours and couldn't find source. Research here shows it will likely be seat back replacement.

- Mother of all door dings! 3 separate dents and scratches. Repaired under "Smart Program" door ding protection offered by the dealer.

- Rear-ended at low speed after U2 concert while incompetent old man parallel parked behind me. 3MPH collision resulted in $800 worth of repairs (bumper replacement and paint) paid by his insurance.

- Just today, my car was keyed.

Like I said, only half of these were the result of engineering/manufacturing. However, I stand by vote as an engine replacement is no minor repair. My car was in the shop for a month.

Johnboy,
You wrote "Random Engine Misfire. Complete long block replacement." Perhaps you may re-consider your feelings about premium gas....seriously?

Haha, Skywagon. I bought my car on March 26th and that problem was diagnosed on the 28th. Still jad the dealer gas in it. I think you're mis-understanding my position on premium gasoline.

I'm all for the usage of it in the Genesis or any other car where it's recommended. The genesis can adjust it's timing to burn regular too though. That's all. I just don't see sense in burning it in an Elantra. That car is obviously not getting any gains or benefits out of premium. That's all I was trying to say.

Hey, you didn't key my car did you? :-P

Johnboy,
No it wasn't me. The Elantra is out of town. When it returns I'll check the manual. Sounds like the dealer may have put some trash gas in it and someone may have pushed it too hard during a test drive. Is that possible?

I had a 2009 Genesis 3.8 sedan and had minor problems with paint chipping off the driver's door sill. Happened three times and repainted by dealer each time. Finally, the shop applied 3M clear tape on the sill and solved this issue.

I acquired a 2012 Genesis sedan two months ago and paint chipping on driver's door sill has started. Dealer says that no one else has had this issue. I have never had this issue in 60 years of car ownership and have worn only soft soled rubber based shoes for the last five years.

Am I unique or have others experienced this minor issue?

Oherwise, I would rate the Genesis as the best car I ever had.

I would appreciate hearing from you.

2012 4.6. Have an issue with one of the sensors, I think.
Every time I'm slowing down or coming to a stop there is a flashing indicator on the front of the car on lcd panel accompanied by sound. Once I'm increasing speed, the flashing indicator goes away. It doesn't matter if there are cars in front of me or not.
I didn't see anything like it in the owner's manual. Does anyone know what that could be?

It's your parking sensor(s). Mine do this when a sensor get's super dirty (rare) or at one specific intersection when wet. Other than that, no issues. Give it a wash.

Well, the car is clean, washed it day before. And there has been no rain for a few day. Parking sensors are working fine when I park or move closely to objects. I've seen something in a manual about CCF sensor that might behave like I described. What sensor this is?
