Went to Mimi's Cafe the other day in the Long Beach-Lakewood area of California. We saw a black one on the freeway and a titanium (like mine), parked in the Mimi's Cafe's parking lot.
Probably was. The one I saw was a re-badged tech pkg edition. Where did you get it re-badged? I put LEDs under the dash and the puddle lights and am contemplating putting them in the dash and trunk. They are a better match than the original but the under dash lights not particularly noticeable.
In the New York City area I seldom see Genesis sedans on the road and I am looking very hard! By now, I've seen all of the exterior colors except sterling blue and haven't seen a single car with saddle interior. My own car is a 2010 sapphire/cashmere of which I have seen at least 2 others. Apparently, the car is selling in very small numbers which is quite disappointing as the car is a terrific product at a terrific price. I have noticed that local Hyundai dealers no longer advertise or promote the Genesis and carry very few of them in stock. Hyundai USA also isn't advertising the Genesis in magazines or on TV. Other Hyundai models are getting a lot of promotion from Hyundai USA but the Genesis does not. What's going on???
How can you identify a Genesis? I've been casually looking since I bought my wife a 2010 on April 16, but if I've seen one it looked like most other sedans and I couldn't tell what it was.
My car, however, is a 2007 Prius and is extremely easy to spot. (Plus I get twice the mileage she does, the Nav is touch-screen, not the funky knob system, and the price was 65% of the Genesis.) Since my name is on the title to both cars, I guess I'm entitled to comment on both. I wish I had been able to convince her to buy a 2010 Prius, but no, she favored an excess of comfort and luxury. Women!
Is there a way to see the current sales figures by model??
You're joking, right? I mean, comparing a Prius to a 4000lbs luxury sedan?
I would gladly sacrifice mileage to drive a comfy lux sedan than to drive a Prius.
BTW, does the gas/brake pedal on your Prius still work okay?
Dan
Seriously! Raise your hand if you bought your Genesis for the gas mileage...
Actually, that WAS a factor in our Genesis purchase, but certainly not the only factor. We wanted better mileage than our AWD Volvo which never broke 23 mpg on the highway.
Right, but it wasn't your primary reason as it would have been if you were choosing a Prius.
Certainly not. Is one single factor ever a reason to purchase a car? We got the Genesis for the value, reliability, gas mileage, performance, room (rear seat especially), quietness, comfort and looks.
I did it myself. Took maybe 45 minutes, but that's because I was excessively careful when removing the rear Hyundai badge and mocking up the placement of the front badge. Got the badges off of eBay.
The footwell front LEDs are much brighter if you remove the lens cover permanently. Otherwise, you'll need some fairly bright, high power LEDs since the covers significantly dim the output.
I recommend replacing the glovebox and trunk lights with LEDs...the difference is truly amazing.
