  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So - I was sitting in another car that also has HD radio and I came across a station that broadcasts two seperate HD stations under the same number on the dial (ie. 103.3) Then, when I sat back in the Genesis I was able to only get 1 of the HD stations on the FM. Anyone out there know how to get the other HD broadcast from the same dial without changing the station per se.

Any feedback is much appreciated.

I think I found out how the other day. In the left side menu pane was an item labeled "other local stations" (or similar)
Selecting that gave a list which included the alternative HD stations. Then one can select HD2, HD3 etc.
It's not as easy as direct tuning but it works.

Assuming you have the Tech package Lexicon system (I don't know if the non-Tech models have HD reception capability and even if they do I have no idea how to work them!):

when the HD logo appears on the display, push the DIS knob down. The HD logo in the frequency display will change... now as you rotate the DIS knob it'll cycle through the various HD subchannels of whatever frequency was active. Push DIS down again to make the DIS knob change/tune different frequencies.

We Canadians dont have HD radio, do we??

It's predominately available only in the United States. Looks like the Canadian Technology Package model has the same HD receiver built-in, so if you're in range of U.S. stations near the border, you should be able to receive the signals. But since it's a digital simulcast, I'm not sure how stable the reception would be.

IBOC (the technology that the brand name of HD Radio uses) has been allowed for deployment in Canada, but I can't find any information about any stations that have applied or that broadcast with IBOC today.

As a note, HD Radio is not high def, just digital at about 96Kbps (more or less, depending on whether it's AM or FM carrier and how the broadcaster chooses to divide the signal, including multiple HD "stations" on the same frequency). So, it's roughly the same quality or slightly better as XM, but not anywhere close to most MP3's and CD's.

Check the Driver Infomation System User's Manual. Page 40-41 covers HD Radio Info. Page 45 gets into the particulars on how to tune into 1 of potentially 8 HD sub-channels. Page 51 covers turning HD on and off.

I personally have found HD radio to be significantly more dynamic and better sounding than SAT radio. SAT radio sounds much more compressed to my ears. Could just be me though.

You are completely right IMO. I don't listen to the Sat radio because of this, but I have to be honest I don't listen to the FM radio much either, since I have all my music on a flash drive. It stinks switching the unit from the stored music to radio or XM radio because the volume is decreased greatly and I have to turn the volume up so much more vs. AUX, or CD.

After reading this thread, I went into my FM and figured out how to use the HD1 & HD2 on stations that offer it. One problem though. In fooling around trying to get it to work, I now have stations NOT IN ORDER. So, I says to myself, "myself, delete stations then put them back in order". No can do. I have not been able to figure out how to selete stations. I just have to keep them out of order, low freq to high freq.

Bob,

Are talking about the 16 presets? If so, you are correct. There's no "delete" capability (at least I haven't found it in the book)...and there's no "insert" capability either.

I'm anal-retentive and like to keep my presets in frequency order so, if I have a new preset I want to add that's in the "middle of the dial", I have to bump all my higher freq presets down the list and, obviously, one of them gets bumped completely off the list.

One would think that in this day and age that we could have dozens, if not hundreds of presets.

Went out and "played" with it today, and I now I understand it. I put everything in frequency order and for the last few settings I don't use, I just set them to 87.7 which is not in use. Works great. BTW, I now know how to tune the HD-2, and some stations have HD-3 and HD-4. Great.

(only have owned car for 9 and a half months, before I understood how to do it <grin>)
