  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

HDA Update

Great feed back here folks!!!

My suggestion as I keep giving is find a gv80 right now on a lot. Don't order one. There's plenty of gv80 across the usa and they are not marking these up. I used the Genesis website to find, locate and buy one within 48 hours in the color and trim I wanted.
I have done what you suggested, been on web, shopped inventory around me up to 750 miles away and have found none in my color choice with the hda 2…all, I mean all, have hda1 in my color plus 99 % have hda1 in them with the $200 credit. I even found a limited edition model with the hda1 in it. Looks like if you have the hda2 in your gv80 you own a rare vehicle.

I guess I turned it on then and its amazing. Game changing, takes the typical assist features to the next level.
I dug deeper into the settings, is what you are talking about having it either be adaptative to how you drive vs drive based on the drive mode? I changed it from drive mode to my driving style and I did notice it seems to be better aligned to my expectations now.

Does anyone know if the HDA2 features that are not included on most new arrivals will be "upgradeable" later on when they get the chips for it?

My order looks like it will arrive soon but it's one without the level 2 and the measly discount. I have not experienced even the level 1 features except in some rental cars and not sure if it is a game changer or not. I've been waiting for months now for my 3.5 Prestige build to show up and trying to decide on this issue right now. If it were upgradeable with a module swap or whatever down the road I would have no problem pulling the trigger now. Dealer shows no more allocations until fall and those likely could be a 23 model but they are trying to find out about any upgradability. Base MSRP with metallic paint already went up $575 since beginning of this year!

They've said it WILL NOT be able to be retrofitted. System is well integrated into car, so likely not a single module plug in.

I called Genesis concierge and asked this same question…he did NOT know the answer but said he would transfer me to someone that “might” know the answer. I was told that if I kept the window sticker that when everything starts to become back to normal that they “Genesis” would install the HDA2 for the $200 credit that was given on the window sticker Via download and chip. Hopefully this is true…maybe others on this site would call Genesis and see what answer they get.

I’d call again and see what answer you get

And it is meaningless if they say it is upgradable unless they put it in writing.

Concierge Service is totally useless!! I called them and as usual they do not have that information and no one else to recommend asking. I would assume a dealer service manager might know. After doing some research on the level 1 vs level 2 today I found the added features, which are more like enhancements to the existing platform I can certainly live without even if there is no future option to add it back later on.

Here is one good page that explains things; Genesis GV80, Other Models Lose Advanced Safety Tech Due To Chip Shortage

The chip shortage is actually getting worse so this might not be fully available for a while. Some new arrivals have it and some don't. Luck of the draw it seems.

Just for clarification, the way I read this is that you still get:
Forward Collision Avoidance Assist (FCA)
and
Smart Cruise Control (SCC)

you just don’t get the:
Forward Collision Avoidance Assist (FCA) ENHANCEMENTS
and
Smart Cruise Control (SCC) ENHANCEMENTS

Just be careful of all the other not-markups-markups. Pay the unit price, and get out of there. don't let them pile on things that they "Already did to the car" like ceramic. Very hard to tell if it was done. I'm seeing this a lot from dealerships in general that say "we don't markup prices" but they are in all actually.

I saw this happening a month back which is why I got my gv80 before prior lease was up. Keep your eye open I have hair you will find one.

Yes according to drive style. The more you drive the more it learns

Do not rely on this! I give it a zero chance they will add it. Tesla is literally the only manufacturer I can see doing such a thing.

Agreed. After really digging into the differences to me it is not deal breaker because the HDA1 has decent enough features already to me so if they can add later great and if not, so be it. If I find an answer I will share.

Are the HDA2 enhancements standard for most 2021 GV80s including base trim?

In the video it shows a GV80 doing 60 mph with the tach showing 3,000. Is that generally right? My '18 G80 is below 2,000 rpm at 60ish.

I’m not trying to change this thread but you seem like you know what you’re talking about in regards to the driver assist stuff. I just put a deposit down on a GV80 that has the $200 credit to the driver assist from a 2 to a 1. Would you be so kind as to explain to me in small words what your car can do with the driver assist 2 and the one that I intend to purchase tith the driver assist 1. Thank you in advance.
I'm stumped on that one. My car is a 2021, so they might have changed something. Never heard of anything you have to pay extra for. Are you outside the US? Or, you might try contacting the rather useless "concierge".

Thank God I read this thread in regards to HDA2. I just entered the market for a GV80 this week. I visited the dealership yesterday and they had one they're expecting delivery on with the specs I'm looking for- 3.5 Presitge White/dune- however it's a 2023 model, and the dealership has almost no specifics other than the trim and color. Im figuring if that 2023 model is set to arrive in June it is likely to me missing the HDA2 chip?
With the amount I'm spending on the car, not to mention the ridiculous mark-up im sure I'll end up having to pay if i want one this year, I refuse to get one missing the HDA2. Is my best option at this point (with orders backed up- and chip issues expected to get worse) to seek out a used 2021 or early 2022 model?
