  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

HDA Update

I have done what you suggested, been on web, shopped inventory around me up to 750 miles away and have found none in my color choice with the hda 2…all, I mean all, have hda1 in my color plus 99 % have hda1 in them with the $200 credit. I even found a limited edition model with the hda1 in it. Looks like if you have the hda2 in your gv80 you own a rare vehicle.
What is HDA1 and HDA2? What is it or does it stand for? I cannot find information on what it means.

From what I can figure, "2" will do auto lane changes as it has side sensors as well as front and back.

Sorry I couldn't figure out how to clarify what I was asking. But I did not know what the acronym meant. I finally found it. HDA = Highway Driving Assist. Thanks

HDA 2 is more than just lane change. I did a short write up of info I found at post 19 in this thread. I much prefer HDA 2 after having both, but HDA 2 had to learn a little before it was really helpful (self learning is one feature of HDA 2).

Agreed. After really digging into the differences to me it is not deal breaker because the HDA1 has decent enough features already to me so if they can add later great and if not, so be it. If I find an answer I will share.
Did you find an answer if it will be upgradable?

Very doubtful since it requires hardware to upgrade it.

Not 100% sure because I haven't spoken directly with a Genesis service rep that should be able to answer definitively, but since I don't miss the added assist features I gave up even thinking about it. Others have mentioned that they likely didn't include the additional sensors that would be needed to go along with the chip upgrade not being included. So I wouldn't get your hopes up. I haven't checked to see if the current inventory out there now comes with HDA2 as it's been a year since I started shopping for mine.

Same her. Picking up mine on Monday and just realized no HDA 2. But I realized changes are such a big difference.
I had a 2018 G80 the driving assist system was one of the best back then already.

These are the specific ADDED assist features of HDA2 that were left out due to the chip issue:
-Highway Lane Change Assist (where car will self pilot into lane by selecting turn signal if all clear)
-Lane Change Oncoming (where car would self pilot to avoid a pending head-on)
-Lane Change Side (where car would self pilot to avoid a side hit)
-Junction Crossing (where radar senses pending T-bone and brakes)
-Evasive Steering Assist (where car assists with driver over-steering situations)
*Measly $200 discount off MSRP!

I am happy enough with the HDA1 features and a very defensive driver anyway. I just glanced at a couple of window stickers posted at local dealership website of new inventory and it looks like its still just HDA1. IF they do add it back I bet it won't be until 2024 model year even if they can get the chips right now.

Some people discount it, but I really like the highway lane change. Works great once you get the hang of it. It`s not necesary but it is fun to use,

Never could get lane change to work in my '21 with HDA2. All I ever got was "Ding Ding"-Conditions not met. I just turned it off. I can make my own lane changes!

It was like that for me at first but now I am good at it. I watched a few videos and that helped.

nVidia DRIVE is a whole system-on-chip and a software stack. You'd definitely need a hardware retrofit, not just an update. You can download the Linux-based software development kit straight from nVidia. It requires Ubuntu to run: NVIDIA DRIVE Solutions

As I understood the $200 credit was related to the cost of the chip. If additional hardware was not included and would be needed to retrofit the auto from HDA1 to HDA2 that would mean Genesis deceived the buying public. That to me is a problem.

I think the credit was for the loss of the function, not for any parts involved. If the HDA II was not available when I got mine, I would have thought twice about buying the car, but now that I have it. It is no big deal.
I know Audi gave credit for some missing options on their cars and probably other car manufactures have done the same thing.

To your point, you thought is was for loss of function, I thought it was for a missing part. Either way, if the part should become available why would it not cost $200 to update? I get that it is unlikely Genesis will go for a $200 upgrade, but I'm sure will try!

I do know Ford will and the missing chips when they become available. Good times!

I don't like it either, I would be pissed if I ordered a car, waited 8 months and then they gave me $200 to tell me I won't get the features I ordered. And I agree if it was as simple as plugging in a chip somewhere in a car like memory in a computer why not. But I think it is more involved than that. They will probably have to replace the whole board, and who knows how hard that will be to get at. I don't see a car mechanic soldering in a microchip onto a motherboard.
IF it is any consolation, the lane change is no big deal. I used it for the first time last week on a trip will probably will not use it again.

Here is the other stuff you lose:
-Highway Lane Change Assist (where car will self pilot into lane by selecting turn signal if all clear)
-Lane Change Oncoming (where car would self pilot to avoid a pending head-on)
-Lane Change Side (where car would self pilot to avoid a side hit)

That's great, but not sure how they will do that. I know Audi dumped a lot of stuff like wireless charging, mostly convenience stuff with no chance of getting them later. Good for Ford.
