  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My head light auto shut off stopped working a short time ago. Does anyone know of a fix or what to look for to solve the problem. Other than going to the dealer.

It is a 2012 3.8 sedan. Thanks, R.J. in Phoenix.

Hi, as it is obviously under warranty
why not visit your dealer?
If you leave the switch to On try locking the
car with the Fob, that should turn the lights
Off immediately..

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Warranty, make appointment and tell them to have a loaner ready for you when you drop your car off.

That should be under warrantee depending on what your mileage is but if your headlights are in the on position and you take your key out of the ignition and open the door the headlights as well as the radio exc. should shut off automatically. But as stated above that is a warrantee item and a loaner should be provided.

Just to clarify, the auto shut off is not working after you shut the car off, or when daylight hits the sensor?

It will shut off when the daylight hits it. But it will not shut off most of the time if left in the dark.

I had a similar problem with the “auto” setting on the light switch, but my headlights seemed only to turn on when it was really dark.

Speaking to my service writer about the problem, he said that the control module located on the top part of the dashboard (left hand side and has a blinking red light for security activation also) has no adjustment and is just replaced if there is a problem.

My mechanic at the dealer’s service replaced the module and the problem was solved. He said the module just pops out and the connections are a plug.

Total time to replace from arrival to departure was about 15 minutes. Just enough time to grab a coffee.:p

Food for thought.....

The manual for my R-spec says that the headlight's lifetime will be shortened if turned on and off frequently. As I keep my Genny in the garage every time it is started with the 'auto headlight' on the light will come on and turn off again as I back out.

For that reason I keep the 'auto' switch off.
