After driving a loaner G70 2.0T Elite while my sport was in for service, I definitely think the HUD is something I wouldn't want to do without on the G70.
Without the HUD, it is really apparent how busy the speedo is on the G70. I don't find it easy to see your speed at a glance because of all the lines and numbers (likely this will be better on the US cars with mph).
Also, the speed limit displayed on the HUD is really nice and without HUD is is displayed in the top right of the IP and is not nearly as easy to see.
Finally the green steering wheel and lines for the active steering are really easy to see on the HUD so it is easy to see if the steering wheel disappears and you need to take over. Without the HUD it is just a tiny icon in the bottom left of the IP and not easy to glance down to see and not very noticeable if it suddenly goes out. It makes the system way less useful imo without the HUD.
Edmguy,
Thank you for the excellent INFORMATIVE post. This is the kind of thing we "Can't get'em yet" foreigners hope to get from this forum.
