  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I've done a search under "headlight adjustment" and not turned up anything. I want to raise the low beams on my 2012 Genesis up a little. I've looked under the hood and so far I'm not finding any place to adjust the headlights.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Put 400 pounds of bricks in the trunk

I have no idea how to properly adjust the headlights.

Okay, after looking under the hood in full daylight, I can now see the holes in the cover over the headlights for access to the adjusting mechanism. Does anyone know what type of screw driver is needed? Flat, Phillips, or Torx?

A long Phillips....

Thanks.

When I used a #1 long shaft phillips scew driver to adjust them it immediately stripped the knilan adjustment scews so be careful, some of them don't like to adjust.
Now I have to use a flathead screwdriver in the teeth of the adjustment gears to aim them.

Hello everyone. This is my first post and I just got my new 2015 ultimate genesis and I am facing an issue of not having a bright spot for my right headlight. Is this something I can fix using the left and right adjustment? If so how do I do this because I see the symbol for left and right but the hole is blocked? Thank you!

namorbrowneyes,

If its a new car and under warranty, have the dealer do it.

For anyone in the future facing my issue, know that there is a white cap over the Left and Right Adjustment gear of the headlights. It can be a pain to pop off because there isn't much room, but it's possible and then you can drive up to a wall and align the headlights to your liking.

It's interesting to look back at myself and be like wow I was a noob in those days. Haha.

And the bright spot not showing correctly was a defective headlight problem. But my Genesis got hit head-on collision so I get a new housing...

Hello, new Genesis owner. The first gen sedans have always been a dream car of mine. I was actually searching for over a year for a coupe with manual V6 to no avail until I finally found this pristine 2012 sedan instead with 20k miles : )

The low beams on this Genesis are pointed WAAAAAY too low, I can only see about 30 feet ahead of me at night. I read the forums and people said that the bolts are nylon and easy to strip so I carefully tried to adjust the screws and I think the previous owner, or whoever lowered them from factory must have stripped them already. I also tried turning the gear with a flat head and they didnt budge. Has anyone replaced these adjustment screws? Just wondering if I should attempt it or deal with it.
