  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Headlight Condensation

Got the same issue in right headlight after car wash. Napleton Hyundai in Aurora, IL mentioned that Genesis is aware of the issue and have redesigned the seal on replacement headlights. I am getting mine replaced today.
Got mine replaced. Then noticed the condensation in right headlights after a week post rains. Took pics and sent to my rep at the dealership. He was considerate enough to place the order with Genesis. Getting them replace this week. Car is at the workshop already for the whining noise while coasting and lack of power in 3rd gear.

Pulsar, absolutely agree. Where the scratch is IF I impacted something then the metal that is .10 inch away from the scratch would also be damaged, and it isn't. kmiller, I strongly recommend Hyundai Corporate customer care. In fact, here is Michelle's direct number: 833-462-8723, Ext 65115. The more complaints about this problem to Corporate care the more likely a recall could be issued.
I have a similar problem. Tiniest chip at bottom of upper light. Doesn’t look to be through the lense though just on the surface. No damage or chip on surrounding body work. How does condensation form on the bottom lense when crack is on the upper? Are the upper and lower lights not seperately sealed from one an other? Sure looks like it if you shine a flashlight in them. Won’t replace under warranty.
I have called the number you provided however the extension number doesn't work.
I’ve had all the black window trim replaced a year ago however the the milky surface returned. They will not replace a second time. They did polish it with something and it seems to have worked for the time being. See how long that lasts.

What do you mean they won't replace your trim a second time. It is warranty. This does not come out of their pockets, it comes from HMC. There are window trim problems on Kias as well.

My dealership just informed me that Genesis is going to replace these defective headlamps under warranty. I only hope the new ones have been improved by material, process and/or design to not crack and leak moisture into them. Any thoughts on how to protect them Ana lid this condition?
Did Genesis replace your headlamp?

My 2023 G70 I purchased new developed very heavy condensation in both headlamps at about the same time. Service Advisor at Rick Case Genesis here in Florida admitted they've had issues with ''some of our model's". Upon inspection they found a tiny, tiny scratch in the right headlamp that I have no doubt was there from the get-go. Told me the warranty would absolutely not cover that headlamp due to that scratch. So....this scratch is the cause of condensation in the R headlamp...so then buddy what is the cause of the L headlamp? Hummm? Anyone else have issues with this?

Four cracks in my headlight. See what corporate says. Dealer says no!

I noticed fog in my headlight on my '23 gv70 back in May and called the dealership. I was told to wait until my next service and they would assess/replace the headlight. The service was last week and when I took the car in. For the first time in 4 months, there was no fog and also some sizable "rock chips" had appeared, according to the tech. I was told that they would not honor the warranty and replace the headlight because of the damage, even though I had photos from May where there was no damage. Upon cleaning the bugs off of the car, I noticed that the "rock chips" were actually cracks originating from inside at stress points. There is no damage to the paint near the "chips", as you can see and are all on the edge of the plastic and clear breaks leading back into the lamp housing. I am going to take further steps to see if I can get them to replace under warranty. At this point, the car has had the gv70's problematic locking rear diff and transfer case problems, so here's hoping this is the last of the known issues that I encounter.
I have the exact same issue

I have the exact same issue
We had our first morning with freezing weather and my passenger headlight developed condensation today. It appears the layers separated at the rear of the housing. I filed a claim with Genesis USA last week after my dealership refused to help and received a call today that they were going to look into it. I will update as more transpires, though I have started a Lemon Law claim in the case that they do not want to honor the warranty.

I just got rejected by Canadian Corporate. Haven’t given up yet 😡

This one is looking to be worse than the infotainment screen LCD delamination on pre-facelift G70s.

Micro cracks or not, if headlights condensation happen with this many cars, the mfr definitely bears at least some responsibility. Of all the cars and bikes I've had since plastic lens headlights became standard, I don't remember any that had this condensation problem. And most of them were/are run here in the hot and humid Texas Gulf Coast.

All I can say is if you are having to deal with this problem, write down the dates and details of all you interactions with Genesis and keep all your printed records and receipts. This may end up on NHTSA's desk and forced into a recall.

Just fyi to all , there are sensors inside the headlights that go crazy once they get wet. My GV80 passenger side headlight became a significant safety issue and Genesis did replace it under warranty.

Same with my 2023 GV60. Discovered it while washing the car this weekend. It has to go in for the charging port recall (and the damn GPS update that never finishes) so I told them about this as well.

Are there any noticeable cracks? Take a close look.

2022 G90 here!

Noticed fog in headlamps when car would reach temperature and then cool in near freezing temp.

Not sure how these lights are made, maybe bad seals on the access ports for the lights. Most of these lights cannot be sealed units since you have to be able to swap the bulbs. Not going to say there are cracks or damage to my lights. Seems to maybe be a manufacturing issue? Will check the seals on the access ports this week to see.

It sounds like a sealing issue, maybe between the housing and the lens. Though on older vehicles, a quick fix is to remove the light and put it in the oven (I would never recommend this since these headlights can be $4k+)

If warranty covers it then just get new ones.

LED lights cannot switch bulbs. Still working on it. However there is a so called dust cap on the back.

Some dealerships are more ethical than others. Contact Genesis Corporate.

I have the same problem on my GV70, took it to the dealership and they knew immediately what was going on. It seem my vehicle was known to have this issue on the driver side light housing. Apparently there was a bad seal, I have no cracks or rock chips on my lights due to having place film covering over them for protection as soon as I bought the car. They order me a new light housing immediately without any issues, all covered under warranty.
