  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Heat from center console (LOTS)

Yes my console gets warm but not to the point that it's overheated.... I would guess that if the rear heat is not turned on it could cause the console to get very warm because the air is trapped
I always keep the rear heat open so entire car warms up

If you still think the console is too hot make sure it's at it hottest then take it to the dealer to complain....that way he can't say it's normal

You might trying turning down the heat for the backseat. I did and it seemed to to reduce the problem

I hate the temperature control on the back of the console. If it is electrical, there should be a way to put another control within easy reach of the driver. Anyone know how to take apart that part of the console or where the control for the rear vent attaches into the vehicle wiring?

Here are the diagrams of the switch and wiring harness. Getting the console apart shouldn't be that much of a problem.
Tapping into the electrical is what would concern me.

Well, as it turns out I am just a moron. I took the car back because it was doing something that I THOUGHT was part of the problem. But as it turns out, it was just doing exactly what it's supposed to do.

When I woke up in the morning I remote started my car. I didn't get outside until after it had shut itself back off. But, the windshield was mostly defrosted so I decided to jump in and head out.

Since the defrost was complete, I turned the mix to floor and turned the blower to about half. Defrost seems so loud to me in the morning.

Genesis didn't like this idea. Genesis decided it wanted to go back to defrost and ramp up the blower to 100%.

I was a little perplexed by what just happened, so I turned the blower back down and then turned it to floor. It switched fine and I then tried to turn on recirculate. But that wouldn't work. So I turned the blower all the way back up.

Genesis didn't like this idea. Genesis decided it still wanted to be in defrost. So, it turned back to defrost and turned the blower all the way back down.

So, I turned it back to floor and then the blower went back to 100%!

I figured this must still be a problem with the air mix actuator so I just turned the whole thing off and called the dealership when I got to work.

Now the awesome team at Miller Hyundai think I am a complete jackass because as it turns out, that is exactly what it is supposed to do... They simply marked the repair form as "Operates as normal". I am actually surprised they didn't write: "Operates as normal JACKASS"

Anyway, on top of all that, I forgot my work parking pass in the loaner car so I had to go back again in order to pick it up.

So, this thread can pretty much be closed. The ORIGINAL problem of the super heat was caused by the air mix actuator which they replaced the first time under warranty. The following problem was just me not realizing I have no control over what this car wants to do when my shoes are wet because it's a slushy day.

Do you get heat through the rear vents at the back of the console when you select heat for the rear?

The HVAC ductwork probably runs below the center console. If duct has become dislodged, I'm thinking the heat would be escaping outwards towards the front seat rails. Is the front passenger seat also affected?

I'm just guessing, since I don't know anything about HVAC system routing and I personally feel the rear seat heat/AC controls are just plain stupid in design.

I have experienced the same thing. I my case it was the back seat vents being closed. As soon as I opened them the heat from the center console went away. This sounds like something a bit different? Much hotter? Let us knon the answer, if the dealer has one?

I have this issue, but it doesn't make sense. If the weather is warm and I am blasting cold air, why would the rear vents start blowing hot air (when it is on COLD) if I half-close or fully close the rear vents?

i had this issue tonight on the way into work.. the center console, under seat, and even the driver side door was super hot.. I also noticed my seat wouldn't cool when i put the vent on? I haven't checked the rear vents yet to see if they are closed... Something must be off or on because the seat has cooled before.. Very strange. Anything i should check?

Did you ever get this resolved? I'm having the same issue and it is intermittent. I also notice condensation on the outside of my windsheild when I have AC running. Could this be related?

I think I am having a similar issue, but this thread seems to weave a bit. The Issue I have is that the rear center console blows HEAT whether the dial is on red or blue, the only solution I have found is to close the vent. I would love to be able to open it and have cool air blow into the back of the car.
Any ideas are appreciated.

I have a 2023 GV70 and I have this problem. The ac is on and floor at the console and seat get hot and it heats up the metal and it smells like it’s going to catch on fire. Metal gets extremely hot to the touch.
