  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello,

Just purchased a Certified PreOwned 2012 V6 sedan after selling my 2007 Saab 9-5 Aero wagon and 2003 Lincoln LS V6. Decided on the Genesis after evaluating what was out there in my price range with low mileage that was the spiritual successor to the LS. The power of the GDI V6 is shockingly good and the 8spd trans really helps with the gas mileage, good thing since I'm starting a cross-country move from the DC area to the California Bay area this week. Still getting some perfectionist issues worked out with the car since it is certified but VERY happy with the car overall.

I'll be searching lots and trying to avoid the worst of the noob questions. Right now the plans are to get to CA and perform the 60K mile maintenance. After that I might look into the possibility of adding some of the toys the car was not optioned with like power folding mirrors, rear sunshade, and the power tilt/telescopic steering wheel.

Happy to be here!

Welcome. I do think the options you list will be cost prohibitive to add. The sunshade and power tilt wheel are connected to the computers in the car and to various limit switches etc. Also the mirrors will need a new arm rest switch assembly.

Good luck! Sounds like you bought a Base '12. Wish you had considered a Premium package model since all your desired add-ons are standard equipment.

That's the tragedy of the timing of when I sold my other vehicles and when I'm leaving. The Premium package car I found that was in budget and of low mileage sold the morning I could buy. Getting a car that I could have the safety net going cross-country of a CPO ultimately beat out the lack of the listed options and my wife's backup camera. I've never had those options (except the telescoping wheel) on any previous vehicle so they are all things I wanted to look into vs. must adds. Just a bit of background, I wired up the entire ECM out of a Grand Prix into my '64 Riviera including convincing the 4T65E to run a 4L80E. How are Hyundai dealers at connecting the factory tool (GM TECH2 equivalent) and enabling options?

The base Genesis does not have the same computers and wiring harnesses as the premium and tech cars. Even the headlight harness is different. If you have the money for all the parts then it is possible I guess. It may be cheaper to trade it.
