  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a front driver side marker light not working and can not find access to the light, can any one help?? Thanks

What year is your genesis? We need to know if your headlight is the newer type or the old type.

2009 4.6 4 door

You should have access to replace the bulb yourself. Here is a picture of the bulb location. You simply twist the bulb bracket(C), remove the old bulb, and install the new one. As far as how easy to get access to remove and install them, I am not sure because I never have done it myself before.

That is definitely not how it works on mine. my 2009's marker light is inaccessible. It looks like you need to pull the whole bumper cover just to get the lens out to change the bulb. I guess I will be taking it to the dealer.

When I had my marker lights in my 2011 4.6 changed over the winter (for state inspection, I had blown one), the service shop said that the bumper had to come off. Most expensive bulb ever!.. :-)

The service manual for the 2009 doesn't mention anything about removing the bumper though. But you do have to remove the lighting housing, which might be the gotcha here. I've attached the appropriate page from the service manual. Perhaps it will help.

Yeah I thought it would just be the housing to but the headlight extends behind the fender and the bumper cover/grill. I see no way to get it off without removing the bumper cover. I watch a youtube video for a 2009 sedan but my light done look like the ones coming off that one.

While it may seem daunting at first, pulling off the bumper cover should be relatively simple. I've done it several times on my Genesis Coupe and got to a point where I can get it off in 5 minutes. I also had to remove the light housing to change bulbs but that didn't require bumper cover removal.

It is so frustrating. I can touch the cap to the bulb with 1 finger, but I can't turn it.
