  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So how long should I have to have it on before a fragrance scent is noticed in the cabin? I installed and activated the system and ran it on low setting [ 1 ] for a few minutes. Noticed no scent. I then uninstalled and reinstalled , double check correct cartridge position - magnet down and pin connectors to front of vehicle. Then ran ac on hi and fragrance on [ 3 ] for about 3 minutes. No noticeable scent. I tried both cartridges. The ones I’m using are the ones that came with the car - new.

Does this system REALLY work?

So here’s one I pulled after after install. Is there supposed to be to a hole punched through where the indentation is?

Humm, in continuing the investigation, I didn’t see anywhere that one is suppose to remove the foil sticker I’m assuming….

I think you're supposed to remove the sticker. I ran your image through Google Translate on my phone:

Looks like the text in the black band says, "Please use it after removing it."
Pretty strange they didn't put an English translation below that.

Haha - just didn’t same!! Tks …. Crazy not in any of the directions/ I though it would have just punched a hole in it during install.

The other ones we have just have a bunch of arrows at the bottom of the sticker.

I wonder if the screen odor diffuser icon eventually shows a warning when low/empty?
This is the icon hat has two settings for amount of odor.
I don't really notice the smell anymore .I've always had it set at the lower setting.

Anyone know if the screen will tell be when it's low/empty?

didnt see anything about that. I dont use mine much so haven't gotten there yet.

No warning, it just does not work any longer. I finished 2/3 of my scent diffuser cartridges. I guess I should turn down the strength.

You can see the percentage left in the cartridges on the backseat console. I have 1,000 miles on my vehicle and never had any scent. Took it in to Genesis dealership and they said the smell is always very faint which I translate as non-existent.

You will get a warning for expiration. There is a chip in the cartridge. Assume they track date as well as usage.

Scent is immediate even on low setting.

When I first bought my G90, I never paid attention to the box of scent cartridges that I had been given as a gift by Genesis. After about a year of owning the G90, I was curious, so I installed the scent cartridges. I was surprised and disappointed when I had no scent in the cabin. The cartridges were new and unopened, stored in an air-conditioned closet in their sealed box until I installed them. One could only sense a hint of fragrance upon startup when the car had been sitting in the sun, but after that initial whiff, there was nothing. If the car interior was cool, then there was no scent whatsoever. So, I told the dealer about it the next time the car went in for routine service. They checked the system and determined that the cartridges were empty, even though the icon on the dashboard read full. I reminded them that they were new when I installed them a few weeks earlier, and that I had installed a brand new one on the day I took it in. I had put in the one with my least favorite scent so if they used it all up while running their tests, it wouldn't matter. Nevertheless, they insisted the cartridge was empty and that I had to buy a new box for over $200. I complained to Genesis corporate, who took me seriously and communicated back and forth with the dealer for weeks, ultimately sending the dealer a new box of scent cartridges. The process took so long that it was enough time for the car to need another oil change, so back it went for routine service. Brand new cartridges were installed by the dealer and when I picked up my car a few days later, the service writer said everything had been corrected; the fragrance dispenser was working. I got in my car, turned on the air-conditioning, tapped the fragrance button and...nothing. It was at that point that I decided that it was just not important to have a functioning fragrance dispenser; my car is spotless, has no particular odor, and still looks brand new. In all fairness, the next time I went to the dealer, the service manager asked me if the fragrance dispenser was working and I replied that it wasn't. He said that he would have a "Genesis engineer" come out and look at it the next time it went in for maintenance, but I'm not holding my breath. Overall, I'm quite happy with my G90, especially knowing how other, much more expensive, cars ride and drive and seeing no discernable difference that would justify spending $100K more than what I paid for the G90 to get something different. I use it as my daily driver and I'm not considering changing it out unless and until I find something else that is genuinely better. So what if the fragrance dispenser doesn't work?

Well, you are $200 ahead and you are not breathing in contaminants. I'd say not having one is a good deal.

The fact that you never mentioned peeling the sticker off and switching between scents makes me wonder. Did they load up both cartridges and remove the tape/sticker? And have you switched between scents ever in the settings? And of course, have you turned on the scents with the button to level 3?

You are missing out. It is not about making the car smell clean, it is about having a scent in the air that calms the mind and body a bit. They are high-end scents in my opinion and designed to work with the mood curator if all is working correctly.

It has been reported quite a few times that the fragrance dispenser has problems. Mine used to work great, now it just works kind of so-so. I have cleaned the part in the glove box with alcohol and have purchased new cartridges. It could be that I have gone nose blind to the scents, but I don't think it is that.

A ridiculous, unnecessary gadget that should have never been added to this car. Even top luxobarges survived just fine without one for generations. Then BMW made it chic a few years back and even the budget luxury brand put it in the G90, along with unnecessary pop-up speakers (which also break) to start jacking prices. smh.

Although I could see that happening, I peeled the stickers off each cannister before installing them myself, and I did try to switch between scents, keeping each at maximum. There was no perceptible scent ever, except upon first start-up when the car had been sitting in the sun for a few hours. That makes sense because the cannisters have a metal disc at the bottom, which makes contact with a heating element in the dispenser, thereby aerosolizing the otherwise solid contents of the cannister and distributing it via the A/C vents. With the heat in the vehicle parked in the sun, there would be a momentary whiff of (very nice) fragrance when the car was turned on. Whereas it would be nice to have that happen on a more permanent basis, it's something I can live without, since my car is lightly used and clean. I'm very OCD about keeping my car looking new. Moreover, I don't want the Einsteins at the dealership taking my dash apart looking for a solution to the nonfunctioning fragrance dispenser and leaving me with all sorts of creaks and noises from a loosened dash when they return the car to me. I'm leaving well-enough alone.

I will add that my glove box has a nice odor. ;)

Mine worked for the first month or so.I always had it set at the lowest setting.
After that, it never worked, even after putting in the last of the three scents.
It's not worth paying $200 for a refill if odds are the same inefficient scent presence would occur.
