  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Heres my story. Water in intake. Car wont start?

ok so AAA picked it up this morning and towed it to the dealership. They then told me that I need a new engine. We already talked to insurance and they are paying for it. I dont know if I should be happy but I kinda am. Now my gen will have 0 miles and its all payed by insurance :).... but its going to be 2-3 weeks before it comes home :(

Also the tow truck guy said he had 17 cars in his lot water damaged because of the flooding and the hyundai/acura dealership had a ton of other cars too. Also the mechanic at the dealership said i have the nicest gen hes ever seen.

IMHO, if Hyundai wanted to put an aftermarket intake system to improve performance they would have done it. Putting in one K&N filter stock filter probably would have been a safer decision providing 70% of the gain when compared to the aftermarket system.

Maybe, but whatever. its done with. thats probably what ill do when i get it back. although im really going to miss the sound and look it gave.

My two cents is that giving up your integrity isn't worth the cost of the car. Tell them exactly what happened and live with the consequences. Once your integrity is gone it's hard to get back. Sometimes it sucks but sometimes it's the worst experiences in life that make the man. Good luck.

its not like im lying though. i changed the intake back to stock. anyone else who was in the same situation i was would do the same thing.... especially when the motor is something so important and expensive.

Oh I forgot to say that the adjuster cam back to the dealership again. He was trying to lower how much they would cover because i was behind on service. thankfully, the service guy talked him out of it. i was only about 350 miles past my service.

What service was the adjuster claiming you were behind on? Oil changes? Air filter changes?

I would be interested in knowing what insurance company that is.

i believe it was just an oil change

so whats the best way to break in a new engine?

Drive somewhat aggressively, at varying RPM, but keep below 4000 RPM for first 600 miles. Are you going to put that "wet-vac" intake back on (I hope not)?

haha. No, im going to keep it off until i find another solution. i will most likely use only 1 of the pieces of metal tubing instead of 2 and use it as a Short Ram intake sometime in the future.

The gen will be home tomorrow or wednesday. can't wait!
