If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I just got my hitch installed today. It was done at Uhaul, it’s a Curt hitch, they had two options this one had slightly better ground clearance. The hitch was very thick and sturdy. It looked to be well made and good quality. Uhaul said the install was easy and it took less than an hour. Total cost for the hitch, install and warranty was $407.00 out the door.

Thanks for sharing as I am needing to install a hitch and was going to use Uhaul. Did you also get wiring installed or just the hitch for bikes. I am just planning to use it for bikes and did not intend to get the wiring done.

Just the hitch, I asked them to look at see if it was pre wired for a harness, they didn’t see anything indicating it was pre wired. The window sticker says prewired for towing…. So I’m going to ask the dealer. Uhaul can order the harness and install it for another couple hundred dollars.

Great. I was very reluctant to have Uhaul start ripping apart panels etc. to accces wiring. Had a bad experience with another vehicle where they broke a clip and caused a rattle for years…..

It's plug and play.

Here is the factory harness : 2021-2023 Genesis GV80 Tow Hitch Harness

And the installation instructions : Genesis: G004.pdf

Or you can buy the factory hitch and harness together as a kit : 2021-2023 Genesis GV80 Tow Hitch

Hitch installation is straight forward with pre-installed mounting points. Just need to be comfortable releasing the muffler hangers and have a torque wrench.

.

If you have a part number for the hitch, please report it.

Thank you.
Bob

I beleive the UHAUL part number is 76513NP - It seems like that might be the part number for the "Curt" brand version and the "Draw-Tite" brand version. It looks like they must both but from the same manufacturer and put their name on it 76513

The GV80 is partially prewired for towing, but I believe your best bet is to purchase and install the Genesis wiring harness (2021-2023 Genesis GV80 Tow Hitch Harness). It is $149, so a little more than the typical UHAul ones, but is near plug and play (no splicing etc required, but you do have to attach a couple of wires using the circular connectors.) Took me maybe an hour to install, and was very easy. Most of the work is from inside the the rear hatch, then the final steps under the car. The harness sets you up for a 4 wire trailer, but does come with an attachment for a brake controller (you can buy separately, and I believe many brands fit) to make it 7 pin

Thank you for the info!

Wel,l I had the OEM hitch installed at the dealer, but they lost the Brake Controller wiring harness. So they found me the harness, and it is fairly easy to install a controller with it.;

Except for one thing. After searching on and off for over a half hour, the female plug that the harness is supposed to plug into is nowhere to be found, at least by me.

In the instruction picture the Female Brake Controller Connector is front and center. In real life, it is not. Has anyone actually seen this connector?

Anyone have any idea what I am missing? Thanks.

Having same issue.
Did you ever find it? If so, what do you do with the 4 bare wires on the other end of the harness? Thanks!

You're just using it for bike rack, so no big deal, but the wiring instructions say to install wiring BEFORE the hitch. I didn't buy the OEM wiring harness until after I installed the hitch myself. The wiring goes through the bottom of body panel and requires removing heat shield that is about ¼" away from the installed hitch frame! I may install wiring and leave it inside the storage compartment and run it out the bottom of hatch when needed. I'm not planning much towing so it's not worth it to me to remove and reinstall the hitch right now. Things may change though :)

Yes, all you say is correct. I found the 4 pin plug under the fuse block, but have no idea what I’m supposed to do with the 4 wires, other than splice them into the existing wiring - which makes no sense since the factory wiring kit and the car are made to be a match. I installed the hitch first and getting the wires trough the hole near the heat shield isn’t that difficult. That’s done. Now I’m finding the wiring kit has a male 6-pin and so does the car. The instructions from Genesis actually say the in car connection is both. It says it’s a 6-pin female and it also says it’s a 6-pin male in the note B below the image. I’ve reached out to Genesis Parts. IMG_1114.webp

This is the 4-pin with bare wires. I was hoping they ‘plug’ or slide into the fuse block or some easy step. Haven’t figured that part out yet (either). I did find the 4-pin connector that’s already in the car.
Thanks for your response.

The part (4-pin connector) has a QR code on the packaging. That leads to this which basically says have the dealer do the work. The website included in those instructions leads to the same instructions I got when I bought the part(s).

Welcome to my world, LOL. I had my hitch installed by the dealer, free, as a condition of sale. No joke, the service receipt for the install was $1,722!!! I'll post it if you want to see it.

The install works fine, but I can't find the brake controller plug either. I was going to have them hunt for it when I brought it in for any other problem, but 2 Concierge oil changes and a home visit software update in 15,000 miles, put the damper on my plan.

I've only rented a 10" U-Haul trailer one time, with no trailer brakes, but I did have to buy a 7 pin to 4 pin adapter from Autozone, and it worked great with the Genny 7 pin trailer hook up.
