  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

HMA Platinum Extended Warranty price

I signed up with Jim Ellis for 1295$ for 6 year 85K miles with 0$ deductible.

I was told that the tires, glass, keys are not covered as part of the plan, they do not have any surcharge or anything that would include these and the rest of the others.

Thanks
I have asked Jim Ellis business manager to advise me about the availability of coverage for the navigation system. 36 hours later I still haven't heard back.

Hope this helps

PS : I contacted my local dealership (7 miles from here), those guys never called me back or replied to my emails. I called them twice, just to get to some newbie, who noted down my name and number and promised on a callback soon (twice)
Interestingly though, when i was there for routine maintenance 2 weeks back, i bought the extended warranty discussion with my advisor, but he never put me up with a 'financial person who was incharge of extended warranty'

Probably need to get the finance guy on the phone. The other people at the dealership apparently don't care about whether someone else gets a commission, they only care about their own commissions. Either that, or they just decided to not match the price, and didn't want to tell you.

I am yet to reveal the offer i had with Jim Ellis, i just told them that i need to purchase :-)

Also does anyone know if the warranty *6 year or 10 years, start from the date of purchase of the vehicle OR date of purchase of the warranty contract

From what I have been told, it is from date of the purchase of the warranty contract
Correct - the aftermarket warranty takes effect on the date it is signed. Also, I verified with Fidelity that the Platinum plan does include the nav system, as part of the radio/audio system.

Here is some news some of you may not like to hear about warranties:

There are some states that are considered Full Disclosure states and they have state law that forbid their residents from buying certain products (ext warranties are included in this) at a discounted rate from an out of state establishment unless you have purchased that product with that same business.

California and Florida, are the most stringent states when it comes to insurance regulatory issues. If you try to buy from out of state (ie online/over the phone) you will be more than likely not allowed to.

Unfortunately, this grants FL and CA dealerships a license to markup/have a stranglehold on the consumer. FL dealers are much more notorious on prices than CA, at least this is true for Acura dealers are spoke about over on Acurazine.

Some do choose to utilize a relative/parent's address out of state to purchase the warranty and have the papers mailed to then fwd'd to them. This is a grey area and debated endlessly, because people *do* move and once you go into the manufacturers VIN registry, HMA in this case, well...it's in there.

I'm not sure if HMA has cracked down on dealers selling online/phone warranties, but it certainly has happened w/ American Honda Corp and Subara of America..to the extent of fining dealerships for partaking in such transaction w/ residents of those states.

YMMV, just giving you a heads up if you live in those states and seeking an ext warranty out of state. Many in the Acura/Honda world slid through just fine prior to 09-10 and then in state dealers (because of the nice incentives to those dealers when meeting ext warranty sales quotas) started moaning and citing ins regulations that were supposed to protect the consumer, rather than cost/cause them grief.

Thanks all for confirming things. Sent back the paperwork and i assume everything is fine.

I might also go with the NP plus for 5 years for 720$. I was told that this includes one (Lost) key replacement in 5 years.

I have just one key and getting keys off ebay turns out to be costing me (programming) with no luck.
