  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Home screen freezes up

Does anyone know how removing the travel link and traffic subscriptions affect the navigation system? I understand it will not provide traffic information or fastest route but will the navigation system still work? Also - My travel link and traffic subscriptions are a "trial subscription" that doesn't expire until 12/2021 so a supervisor of the technical support department just told me that Sirius cannot cancel those and that I would have to go through the dealership.

I just called into SiriusXM customer relations. They’re the only ones who can remove Traffic and TraveLink subscriptions.

after removing these two features and refreshing the radio signal my radio is finally working.

Con: when using the navigation there is no calculating the fastest route based on current traffic.

Also, the ability to record on all 18 presets is still not working. Only can record on first 6 presets. This is definitely an issue related to the MapNSoft update v.14

Hyundai really need to address this issue with mapnsoft since it’s their software that is incompatible with the ubiquitous and vehicle agnostic XM signals for traffic and travel link.
Given the numerous bugs with the recent map software this appears to be due to a lack of beta testing and lack of QC

Yes, navigation works without travel link and traffic. Sirius service is not required at all.
The Sirius agent told me to call the listener care department at 1-866-635-2349 to get the traffic and travel link suspended without messing up the trial. I haven't done that yet, because Map-N-Soft said they would do this for me and ensure that the trial was extended till after they fixed this. However, it still isn't turned off, so I guess I will have to try listener care.

Please let me know how that goes. I've spent my allotted 3 hours per day on this issue for the day. :(

I called XM yesterday and cancelled my Travel Link service without issue. Once cancelled the screen locking issue has not happened. The current plan is the upcoming V15 April map update will include a fix to this issue. If true, you should be able to reactivate the Travel Link service.

on a side note, it will be interesting (for me) to see if I really miss the Travel Link service.

@jkeck Were you paying for the SiriusXM Travel Link service or was it the initial "free" complimentary SXM Travel subscription?
Based on your profile you have a 2015/16 which infers you were paying for it.

I attempted to cancel my SXM Date (Travel and Traffic) complimentary subscription last week yet retain my SXM radio service which I was paying for. Calling SXM they said I could not cancel my Travel subscription. I inferred it was because it was "complimentary" version of subscription. Fortuitously, my complimentary Travel subscription was expired Feb 19, 2021 and this issue was resolved in my vehicle since then.

I have no intention of ever paying for SXM Data services. Not worth it IMO. If a Navi update comes out and they give me 3 months free for the aggravation of this issue I'll take it.

Yep, I was paying for it.

This is an update from Monday when I called XM and canceled my 3-year free trial of travel link.
The only way to do this is to cancel your entire subscription and start a new one.
I can confirm that I have had zero XM radio freeze ups since I did that.
I've used my nav to and from work for the past few days no freeze ups no hiccups everything works fine .I do not check for traffic issues so I'm sure like everyone says I may be missing traffic information on my navigation routes.

I did State previously that I'm having some issue with my Blue Link send to Genesis from phone app.
I am still having the same issues but that appears to be the only issue and not sure if it's related.
I spent quite some time on Tuesday with a rep from Genesis connected services from inside my car and he did confirm that I had an issue only when sending a point of interest from my phone. when I do a point of interest search from my nav it works or if I use the blue link point of interest search from the rear view mirror and give a point of interest command it works as expected. However whenever I send point of interest destination from my phone it will show up in my car, but when I select it, absolutely nothing happens. same thing if I try and select a previously used point of interest; it will not select or continue on to navigation. This seems like it could not be the same issue as the XM freezing up but who knows. he did start a ticket on my issue especially after I told him that my radio had been replaced a few weeks back for the XM freeze issue.

Hey guys, I'm new here and found this thread since I was having the same issues with my 19 G80 Sport. Mind you I have done zero map or other updates since I bought the car new in March 2019. The problem started happening a couple weeks a go and I decided to live with it and see what happens. After about a week, I brought it into the dealer while it was actively not working and a service rep got in the car with me and verified something was not obviously right. The symptom at the time was the satellite radio would get stuck on a single station. Although I would toggle to the next preset, the audio was still coming from the first station. He reset the radio with his pen and of course the problem went away and he said to make an appointment if it happens again. Well, of course it happened again soon thereafter and I brought it back today. This time, they hooked up the diagnostics and I sat in the car with a technician. His initial diagnosis is that the head unit needs to be replaced and this is NOT a Sirius/XM issue nor some other type of software issue. That's all fine to get a new head unit under warranty, but of course my concern is it just a matter of time before it happens again? This head unit is no longer in production I assume with the 2021's out so whatever is lying around somewhere in some Hyundai warehouse will have the same inherent defect associated with it.
Well the dealer installed a new head unit yesterday and I activated service for Sirius/XM this morning and everything seemed to be working perfectly....until it didn't. The exact same problem as recurred. Obviously the problem is not with the head unit. I put a call out to the dealer again and they are communicating with Genesis engineers to determine what to do next.
For now, I'm just going to have to keep a pen handy and reset the system when it acts up....this blows.

Just as a clarification if you have multiple radios or vehicles with XM you only have to cancel the subscription on the Genesis it's easy enough to do and you get a credit for the remaining portion that you have not used.

If you have any complimentary service you will lose that as well. Sales manager told me that they will figure out a way to reinstate the complimentary service once the problem is resolved.

I did get a credit on the remaining portion of service that I did not use.

I too started to experience the problem a couple weeks ago with my 2018 G80 5.0. In addition to the freezes, I had noticed that I would loose sound at locations where there was nothing to block the Sirius/XM signal. I noticed that when the sound came back, something would flash on the top of the screen saying "Featured Favorites Updated" after that I can't change the S/XM station. I can navigate to other stations, but it just says "acquiring signal" and the station never changes.

I don't think it's hardware, I think its a conflict between something SiriusXM has uploaded and the unit software.

I have the latest update, but I haven't loaded it, I'm still on the previous version.
Yes that "Featured Favorites Updated" message always seems to occur before freeze up. I don't remember ever seeing that message before this problem started happening.

Wow !

I’ve been experiencing the same weird symptoms on 2019 G80 that many of you describe here. It actually spent 15 days at the dealership....they don’t have a clue. They’re just ordering everyone new head units but now those are on backorder and unavailable. So we actually initiated a process with Genesis to sell the car back to them under lemon law rules.

But now I’m going to try removing SiriusXM data and report back. It makes sense though, based on my experience around the way it fails. Wild.

I started having problems with my Sirius radio getting stuck on one channel and not being able to change to other channels. I brought the car to the dealer and they changed the center console knob, this did not solve the problem. I took it back to the dealer and they changed the radio, but I still have the problem. Does anyone have any recommendations on what the dealer should try next to fix the problem?

There's nothing your dealer can do at the moment. please take a read of all the 7 pages of this thread to get a detailed picture of what's causing this - aka software glitch / incompatibility b/w the firmware in the radio and XM radio data traffic and travel link subscriptions.

Yesterday I cancelled my Travel and Traffic Link subscription. Sirius offered me the upgraded All Access radio subscription at a promotional rate for 12 months and I accepted it. Can cancel or downgrade anytime. Today I was having the same freezing up issue with the radio and nav; in fact it was worse with the radio. However, I then went to Sirius online and had a new refresh signal sent. I received a message that the subscription was updated. That seemed to solve the issue.

Just came across this thread today.... I too have the same Navigation System/ XM Radio Freezing Problem... Started about a Month ago....
Had the Navigation Head unit replaced, as the dealership here in Miami was clueless. --- And of course it didn't work...
Tried to Call XM and have the 'Trial' Travel Shit removed.. They claimed the dealership had to do it..... I will try that as well...

The Travel shit in XM seems to be the problem? ..... Correct me if I'm wrong.... Will follow this thread, in case I still have to keep flucking with this.

Ditto. I have had the same problem in my 2018 G80 sport for about a month now. Genesis USA supposedly has informed dealerships about this issue and they say that "they are working on it." After reading this forum it appears to be an issue with an XM software / Genesis incompatibility issue. Funny, since the radio has worked perfectly for over 3 years and all of the sudden this started out of nowhere! Some users resolved the issue by suspending XM travel data... I'm going to try that this week.

That’s interesting my problem didn’t show itself before until after the XM subscription.

oh, forgot to post this fact; I had a 21 G70 loaner for 3 days, no issues. I now have a 20 G70; no issues. any thoughts???
It's ridiculous that Genesis USA didn't know about this apparent software incompatibility issue between XM and Hyundai. I got the runaround at my dealership too, and they are frustrated with genesis usa as well. I'm going to suspend my XM travel link and data immediately.
