I’m pretty sure I can love another car whose manufacturer has better customer care.Really ? --- You're going to get a car that you don't Love?
I am having the same additional issues that you are having. Yes, it's very frustrating. I contacted MapnSoft, and they are aware of the issues. They are working with SXM and the manufacturer of the DIS navigation system to come up with a fix. They also told me it's related to Travel Link.I have not seen anyone post these additional symptoms yet and wanted to include a few of my other observations. Of course, I experience the same issues as the rest of the Genny owners here. However, I have also experienced the navigation lock up in the middle of a trip, which is frustrating to fumble with my phone while driving to get to my destination. Also, my G80 has the heads up display with the speed limit. After the system locks, the speed limit freezes and is incorrect. On occasion, I subconsciously rely on it while driving and have noticed myself speeding when the lockup occurs. Also, while the system is locked, text messages are not received by the unit via Bluetooth connection. While these issues are not serious primary system malfunctions, it does negatively contribute to driver safety.
I am happy to see there is a workaround to cancel the TravelLink service I paid when I bought the car (sorry, complimentary service). I am debating the SXM call to tech services, but am concerned they will give me $5 for my trouble (as another has pointed out). My patience is running low after 5 weeks with this issue so I might make the sacrifice. Thanks to all that have tested and contributed to this thread.
Maybe time for a class action lawsuit discussion. I also consider whether Motor Trend or Car and Driver might be interested in the story. I have considered a report with NHTSA. After a recent accident with a GV80 that caught the attention of the media, I would imagine an issue like this might garner more focus for Genesis / Hyundai, regardless of blame.
Thanks for listening to my frustration and ranting. Drive safe.
I just purchased a 18 G80 Sport. And have noticed the home screen will allow you to move to each icon, but won't let you choose them. I have tried touching the screen, as well as the center knob. Neither will let me enter into any app. Or it will freeze when in an app. Can't change the radio or use the navigation. Anyone experience this?
Thanks for your post. I'm having all the same issues as you. I have an appointment with my dealer next week, they want to change out the radio. I feel like they haven't been notified by Hyundai that this is an issue. I will direct them to this forum. And I am going to tell them not to change out the radio. Don't want to add another problem to the problem.I have not seen anyone post these additional symptoms yet and wanted to include a few of my other observations. It won't --- It's a software problem.... If you read this entire thread you'll understand. It is caused by the XM Travel Link stuff....I purchased a 18 g80 sport 6 weeks ago. I have experienced all these problems with the info-nav system. They have replaced the system once. Still is freezing. They are trying a second replacement this week. Hope it fixes it.
Read the thesis on my findings in the Sirius XM Malfunction thread. before you trying a second replacement this week.I purchased a 18 g80 sport 6 weeks ago. I just did the same thing. Problem fixed!Problem fixed! In order to cancel the Traffic and Travel subscriptions you actually need to cancel the entire subscription (including music) and then they re-activate only the music subscription. FYI, the regular customer service people don't have the ability to do this but the "technical services" people do. It took a long time and some frustration but they took care of it. Personally, I never used those two services so good riddance as far as I'm concerned.
For those who want the Traffic and Travel services there might be a software fix thru Genesis at some point but who knows how long that will take.
New owner here. Can you please tell me what information I needed an # to call to drop my subscription. Own car only 2 weeks and have same problems. Thank You.Problem fixed here too. I dropped my trial subscription (only 2 months left) and then re-activated only a music subscription liked mentioned above. I did go through regular customer service and it was very easy. I did this yesterday, 3/3/21 and haven't had any issues with the radio or navigation freezing. Good luck to all. Don't Replace the Head Unit, That's Not The Problem. I was scheduled to have mine replaced next week. So glad I found this forum.
I found it fairly easy to get MapNSoft to suspend my travelink subscription temporarily. Their customer service team seems fully up to date on the problem. I sent them a message through the MapNSoft.com/genesis website and they got back to me within an hour. They need your VIN and your SXM Radio ID (go to channel 0 to get radio ID). Travellink service was removed within 24 hours. They will also keep track of affected VINs to be sure your service is reactived once the problem fix is applied in case SXM doesn't do it automatically. No need to cancel your entire subscription or SXM traffic which isn't affected.
Thanks for the heads up on this. I too was able to submit my VIN and Radio ID through their Chat function on MapNSoft.com/genesis. It was relatively quick after a couple preliminary model, software version questions.I found it fairly easy to get MapNSoft to suspend my travelink subscription temporarily.
