  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Home screen freezes up

Genesis can do it for you. For me they did too.

Called my service dept. Gave my radio ID Hardware ID, etc and they put me on the list. They told XM to act. Try that via Genesis dealer.
Did something happen today with Sirius XM?

If you're on your free 3 year complementary trial of SXM's travel link, you'll find it easier to temporarily cancel that service by contacting Mapnsoft either by message or phone and they'll take care of it with no problem until a fix is available. You'll need your VIN and Radio ID. SXM seems to have a problem doing this if you're still on the complementary service.

Not sure about that. The service manager i talked to said Genesis (dealer and their Region/Corporate office) are aware but their position is that it's an XM problem (I disagree). What's disappointing is that Genesis is not informing buyers of the issue, then refusing to fix it or any other remedy. this smells like a class action - - selling a car based on features that it does not have, because they don't function. while not a safety issue, it's a loss in value for everyone of us who's purchased one.
The issue is with Sirius XM's travel link feed - they've confirmed that. Mine was disabled and my radio still has problems - my guess is there is a corrupt file in the cache - hoping that the fix will clear out the cache. I did report the problem - too bad I can't get access to anyone who will understand any of that. Or to anyone who can explain why they didn't just roll back to the previous version rather than go through all of this and leaving people with no traffic info and buggy radios.

The sad thing is that Sirius should know about the issue - clearing out the cache should be easy to do with an update, but they probably won't know and I don't know of a way to get that info to them, the problem will persist and they'll spend unnecessary weeks and weeks trying to resolve it.

Mapsoft put on their website: "NEW MAP & SOFTWARE UPDATE V15.0 WILL BE AVAILABLE IN MID APRIL 2021"
I hope something in this update will resolve the issue
It won't. the issue is with the data feed. It might make sense for them to discuss this with Mapsoft too, but...nah!

I see... well you may not need to do that, in fact head unit change did not seem to fix this, as others said. I would call xm radio to turn off all travel link. Rest the radio with the black botton after that. After the reset the travel link won't drop data to your car's system. If that data is not reloading there should not be anything to freeze your system.

If it does freeze after all that I recommend above to do... I would do a system update because there might be something that would the update overwrite that is causing this. This way any change the travel link had caused would be changed or overwritten and you don't have new travel link signal to mess things up again...

How does this sound?
The problem is likely a corrupt file in the cache. An update will probably fix it - or even reinstalling the one you have. Take the SD card out before starting the car and they unit shouldn't freeze.

Sadly - there is no way to communicate anything to anyone who could act on it. They really should know about the radios freezing after disconnecting travel link but they won't. The fix won't work and we'll be in the same situation for another couple of months.

I'd log into your online XMSirius account and verify they really did unsubscribe your Travel Link subscription (people do make mistakes).

Next, verify the SXM Travel Link subscription (Weather, Stocks, Sports, Fuel prices and Movie) is shown as unsubscribed in the vehicle. I don't know what SXM AGW is.

On a 2018 G80 with 9.2" touch screen the steps are
Change media to SiriusXM
On touch screen choose \Menu\More Features\Subscription Status\
2018-G80Sport-210302-XMSirius-Subscritpion.jpg

XMSirius queues up subscription changes and it does not happen instantly. It can take 5 minutes to 1 day sometimes. If you are in the car when the subscription update occurs you will typically see a notification on the screen.

If online it shows Travel link unsubscribed but subscribed in the car do a XMSirius signal refresh to re-push the subscription update to your vehicle.

Also,
I speculate Home Screen freeze is a separate/additional issue (most likely a head unit hardware problem). I had the issue not being able to change channels within XMSirius but never had any issue with my Home Screen freezing. Removal of the XMSirius travel link subscription resolved my issue.

I have a 2019 G80 3.3 and have the same issues. Dealer replaced the antenna but that didn't help. On the phone with Sirius XM for an hour yesterday and they downloaded all the fixes they had. Still have the same issues today as Conanbarb discusses above. Car is still under warranty so I'm going to let them fight it out with Sirius XM.

It didn't resolve mine and this can't be a hardware issue as it happened at the same time to thousands of radio's from different model years. it almost has to be a software issue and because it still happens (mine worked for awhile after disabling travel link then problems recurred) for some, there must be a corrupt file cached somewhere. Knowing that would make the solution much easier to find, but there seems to be no way to communicate that to anyone who cares or can act on it.

Just purchased a 2018 G80 Sport and thought I was losing my mind trying to figure out the touchscreen issues until I found this thread. I'm working my way through comments now, but correct me if I am wrong that a fix does not seem to be available yet? It all seems to work fine until I access SiriusXM radio. The subscription expires 5/23/21, so I don't care really about the service, but don't want it messing up the rest of the unit's functionality!

Yes they really don’t know yet but they said there will be a fix soon. If I were you, I would call Sirius XM technical support not customer support and cancel travel link immediately. I bought mine a few weeks ago and just offering advice I wish I had before the problem started happening. It still might happen but for now this is the best way to fight it.

Don’t worry about trying to tune to channel 0 to get radio ID. Sirius XM can get it for you when you call to cancel. You will have to battle with them to cancel it since it is a trial but they will cancel it.

Thanks, I will do that!

Yes more or less.. it is not XM radio...it is the Travel Link additional service.
For me Travel Link was turned off except the traffic sub feature, and the XM radio works fine. I didn't have more freezes like before. (I got the G80 Ultimate that has different head unit screen and hardware than the Sport or the Base trims)

I HIGHLY DOUBT that this will not be fixed! I think it takes time for XM radio folks to work it out but this for the brand is bad they won't let this fly long. I was just told the issue started showing on a few G70s and 2020 G80s too...

Hey folks, just to reiterate, don’t worry yourself with updating the software (until mid April when 15.0 comes out). Don’t mess with any workarounds, or trying to access engineering mode, etc. Cancel your Sirius XM personally, and open a ticket with MapSoft for them to cancel on their end as well. It will take 2-3 business days to take effect, but then you will be good. Worked for me on my 2015 ultimate with 9.2 jog dial.

Emailed my guy at Genesis MNsoft all of the problems I am having and what I have read about in this forum. The following is his response from yesterday.

Genesis:

Unfortunately, our engineers do not work with the hardware, but I will ask if they can forward it to the correct team, I believe it is Harman or LG that makes the device for these vehicles. We have been informed that it is suspected to be a signal transfer rate by Sirius, and they are in the process of creating a fix for the issue. I was not given a timeline for when it would be applied, only that it is expected soon.

He emailed me today with this:

The fix is supposed to be implemented by SXM today at 11:30 AM PDT, please let us know if this resolves the issue for you, or if you continue to have difficulty.

I haven't tried it yet but this is promising considering that someone mention they were no longer having problems as of 2 days ago. They noticed something changed. Fingers crossed everyone. For those who were still having problems after disabling Travel Link. Please let me know if this fix that has been released works for you. I will let you guys know if mine is fixed. Good Luck everyone. Hopefully, this craziness is over.
