  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Home screen freezes up

Emailed my guy at Genesis MNsoft all of the problems I am having and what I have read about in this forum. The following is his response from yesterday.

Genesis:

Unfortunately, our engineers do not work with the hardware, but I will ask if they can forward it to the correct team, I believe it is Harman or LG that makes the device for these vehicles. We have been informed that it is suspected to be a signal transfer rate by Sirius, and they are in the process of creating a fix for the issue. I was not given a timeline for when it would be applied, only that it is expected soon.

He emailed me today with this:

The fix is supposed to be implemented by SXM today at 11:30 AM PDT, please let us know if this resolves the issue for you, or if you continue to have difficulty.

I haven't tried it yet but this is promising considering that someone mention they were no longer having problems as of 2 days ago. They noticed something changed. Fingers crossed everyone. For those who were still having problems after disabling Travel Link. Please let me know if this fix that has been released works for you. I will let you guys know if mine is fixed. Good Luck everyone. Hopefully, this craziness is over.
No more posts, I guess everyone's screen got fixed?

Yeah but I am still stuck though. I had to file a case with hyundai corporate.
Reedsadler, try unpairing your phone bluetooth to the car and run it that way for a few days. That takes up some of the Memory in the infotainment system. Maybe that may free up enough ram for it to clear its cache?

I have tried that. I am just completely stuck but thank you for the suggestion. I hope the techs can send something to my unit to clear everything up. She said they can send stuff to it.

I have been experiencing the same head unit issues in my 2019 G80 w/9.2 screen over the last several months - I put in an email to Genesis explaining the issue 3 weeks ago - well, today I finally received a response from them. Genesis says SiriusXM put in a fix on 23 March. If the head unit is not responding to the fix perform the following to the vehicle:

Step 1: Please do an engine cycle by turning the vehicle fully on and off 3 times in a row.

Step 2: Press and hold the reset button for a second or longer to reset the head unit. (The reset button looks like a small hole and can be located above the CD slot next to the Sirius XM symbol)

I just implemented these 2 steps this morning and - BINGO - my freezing SiriusXM issue has finally cleared. I didn't have to make any adjustments to my SXM subscription (still receiving traffic updates via Travel Link) in order for the unit to start working properly once again. Having said all this I haven't tested the Navigation system yet - at this point I will assume it's also functioning properly once again - only time will tell.

I hope this bit of information is beneficial to someone out there experiencing the same Genesis/SXM/Navigation issues I had been since early February.

Remember, your milage may vary.

Cheers.

Unfortunately still no go for me but hopefully this helps someone else. Thank you for your suggestion!

So, fingers crossed, but it appears that the problem has been resolved for me. I never updated the software, nor did I cancel the Traffic, I was living with whatever station was on when it froze.

Did you do anything and what is your year and trim level?

All is well again in my '19 G80 Sport now. Was still freezing up on Tuesday during an 8 hour drive. Just tested my car for 30 minutes after seeing info above re fix. I am pleased to report things are back to normal, I believe.

I didn't do anything, just waited - 2019 G80 3.8 w/ Ultimate package
Ok thanks for your response. It appears that, at least the last two post, have been 2019s. So maybe the fix works for the hardware in the 2019s but not the 2015s. Are there any people with 2015 ultimates that have had their system fixed after SiriusXM released a fix? Or any other reasons.

Keep us posted as I'm having the same issues with my G80, 2019. And they pulled my dealership in St George Ut so I'd have to go to Henderson NV, 136 miles away! And I'm an 81 y/o widow with pancreatic cancer.

I will definitely keep posting even if mine is fixed. It would be a waste of time driving to the dealership. I have been to two Genesis dealerships and they have both told me I would have better luck with Genesis corporate. They can’t do anything on their end other than a map update and replace the whole radio. I am currently going through the process with Genesis corporate. If it works I will post details on how I got everything to work.

The problem is likely a corrupt file in the cache. An update will probably fix it - or even reinstalling the one you have. Take the SD card out before starting the car and they unit shouldn't freeze.
I Had SXM turn off their “Live traffic & weather” function then send a reset. Everything’s working now. Thanks to this group for the suggestions.

Sirius says they have no record of me ever having a Travel Link subscription but would be more than happy to sell me one. As a result, I can't get my Travel Link reinstated and will never have any traffic info unless I'm willing to pay for it - despite having 2 years left on the subscription that came with the car (2018 G80 5.0 liter)

Hey Reed, 2015 ultimate here. Fixed 4 business days after making MapNSoft aware of issue. They cancelled all things Sirius XM. If you want Sirius, not sure if there is a fix yet.

There is apparently an issue getting Travel Link reconnected - which has to be done for every vehicle that suspended it and probably has to be done one by one.

Thanks for letting me know, I hope mine gets fixed soon. It is still frozen and HMA claims they disabled everything.

My problem with the screen freezing (usually stuck on a particularly obnoxious XM station) seemed to vanish a couple of days ago as well. Have been afraid to mention or acknowledge it and jinx myself.

There are probably corrupt files in the cache. Resetting the radio (there's a small button above the CD player you push with a pen to do it - hold it down just long enough for the screen to go black then it will restart itself) should clear them out.
