  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I don't like the sound of the horn on the Genesis at all. This isn't a big deal, but is probably easy to fix. Does anyone know of an additional note horn to add to the Genesis to improve the sound? Does anyone know where the Genesis horn is mounted?

Curious: you use your horn enough to really want to spend any $ on replacing it? I use my horn very rarely and I live in densely populated NJ - I don't even recall what it sounds like...

Funny! I just tapped on the horn yesterday for the first time - just to see if it worked.
Sounds like something you would hear on a golf cart. What a joke.
But I'm not about to spend $$ to replace or upgrade it.

I dont plan to spend big $, just something simple and inexpensive. I was hoping for ideas.

of course you can upgraded it.. its only a few wires... i upgraded the one on my Kia Optima because it sounded week... A few Korean Websites carry horns that are much louder than stock.. Could be an option for the future.. I don't use it enough but when i do it should have a decent sound...

Maybe this car is so quite, that you can't hear as well inside the car ;)

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Horn on my 2015 Ultimate is great...except...the emergency horn activated from the fob is pathetic! "Help. Somebody is stealing my Yugo"

I got nothing. Well, you could try and find a mid 1960s triple note Lincoln Continental horn on ebay. Probably would draw more power from the battery than the engine starter. :D

that kinda makes some sense.. with the solid doors and engine insulation you could be right

You want these. I put this in all my cars and motorcycles. Believe me... short of an air-powered horn (and do NOT get the Stebel horn unless you like pissing away money as they fail very quickly) - this is the horn you want:

I don't get this - the stock horn in the video sounds fine and is more than sufficient to get one's attention. The sound from the Hella is just plain annoying and a little startling - might cause overreaction from other drivers when used which might not be good? To each his own - it's your $50 to spend.

I'm going to copy & paste part of a post I made in the Goldwing forums when someone asked me the same thing... so while the underlying message & principle is the same - the context is only slightly different, as just because now I drive a larger, bright white vehicle that they either still cannot be bothered to see - or get their eyes off their phone enough to see me. A horn being LOUD and ANNOYING and getting your ATTENTION is exactly the POINT!:

"As far as what is wrong with the stock horn - well... they are a bit weaker than they were when I first got the bike 62,000 miles and 3.5 years ago. This is not the first horn I have managed to kill due to usage while living here in Chicagoland. If it scares the chit out of people I say GOOD!!! maybe they will pay some damned attention from now on - and as long as they don't crash into me like they were just about to - I could give a rip less what happens to them. Like I said earlier in the thread - I am done playing nice around here. If I am riding around greater Chicagoland I am lucky if I am not brought within a few inches of my life at least a couple times a day. In over 20 years of riding I hadn't had any accidents since my very first, a few months into my riding career - and then in 2011 I get rear-ended and side-swiped only a couple months apart. Shit needs to STOP!"

My concern is that if you freak someone out, the result might be they hit you when they accidentally hit the gas due to being startled. That's all. I've never had an issue getting noticed when I used the stock horn in any car I've ever owned. Just an alternate POV.

If someone knows where to get a Bond style rocket launcher, or a flame thrower, I would be interested in that as a second stage to a better horn.

Today, three people pulled out from side streets/car parks into my lane of traffic (going between 50-60 mph - legally) and forced me to break heavily or swerve out of the way. Twice the red car starting flashing in my HUD.

I used the horn, and wished for the rocket launcher ...

dude, it's austin, sooooo....

on the other hand, I also have used the supertone on three cars and I can tell you it gets attn

OK, now I am confused. I don't think I had ever tried the horn out on my car, so I did. It is LOUD and a triple note. Nicest horn I've had on _any_ car. What gives?

If I am inside the car with the windows up and sunroof closed, I can barely hear it. Then again, I can barely hear anything outside the car, including other people's car horns I guess. The only traffic noise that intrudes into the passenger compartment are cars that have been converted into subwoofers and really loud exhaust systems.

Got these in my truck .....it does get people attention on the road :D

LOL, I have a set of those combined with a compressor on the radar arch of my boat. Those are painfully loud, so much so I have to tell people to cover their ears if they are on the fly bridge with me. Sure works well one a boat however not a good idea on a car.

If someone told me that people obsess over the sound quality of their horn I would have said no way. That was before reading this thread. Live and learn.
