  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My BlueConnect is no longer working and is out of warranty. Appearently the warranty on this is only 36k miles. I want to take a look at it before I get it replaced.
Does anyone have instructions on how to remove the overhead console?
Also, do I really need to disconnect the battery before I play with this?

Your assistance is appreciated.

open the sunglass holder and there are 2 phillips screws on the top. undo those and it will drop down. disconnect the plugs for the sunroof and other electronics and it will come free. no you do not need to disconnect the battery. ive taken this thing out so many times as well as many other electric components in the car without even turning the car off and everything is fine. also, disconnecting the battery resets the clock and all my preset channels so its very annoying

Thanks for the response. But the 2009 genesis doesnt have a sunglasses holder. It has the Bluetooth interface in that spot.
Anyone else???

Some 2009 trim levels have the Bluetooth built into the audio system and therefore have a sunglass holder where your Bluetooth is located.

Check the www.hmaservice.com website. Registration is free and they usually have instructions for servicing parts.

I did check out the HMAService site I saw a bulletin on how to remove the console that has the sunglass holder. I didn't see one that explained how to remove a unit with built in Blueconnect.

Anyone else ever do this?
