  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello all! I got my Genesis about two weeks ago now. This may just be a simple question to you all, but for me not. This is my first NEW car and I just don't know what to do and how to maintain its beauty.

My old car, I used to just hand wash it with waterhose and hand with no soap in front of the garage.

My neighbor recommended me this, "Black Magic" in a blue spray bottle after handwash at home.

What about you guys? It would be nice if I could somehow easily apply some sort of wax to have water fall off and beads off rather than having water spot marks remain on car surface...

1. How do you wash, or what do you use for body to preserve its paint and shine?

2. Rims? I used to use Meguiars and that thing was super!

3. window / windshield? windex still streaks...

4. that plastic panels between two side (front and rear) windows since when people close door people usually leave grease marks on front door frame...

5. wood trim inside?

6. leather seats?

7. exhaust tips?

Thank you all for your time in advance and hope to get some good recommendations and advices from all.

:welcome: Congratulations on your 1st New Car. I just washed mine today. I used the hose in the driveway, no soap, old baby diapers as wash cloths and to dry it. Read the manual under maintenance, it describes how to do it. Enjoy. Which trim, color (in & out) and anything special?

Ditto.

In addition, I washed mine today for the first time. I was surprised how easy the wheels (4.6 wheels - don't know about 3.8 wheels) cleaned up. Did not expect them to clean up that easy.

Only reason I washed it was because of the dirt that forms behind the wheels on the paint. After I washed it, I called my dealer and ordered a set of Mud Flaps, front and rear.

I just take mine to my friendly neighborhood full service car wash about once a week......

I like to use zaino products, microfiber towels and a microfiber mitt. If you want to go all out you can get a deionizer. But on my other car I use meguiars products and they work great and are readily available.

I have never used an automated car wash.
All my vehicles have always been hand washed by me.
I use car soap and use a squeegee and 100% cotton towel to dry.
Twice a year, I wax the car again by hand. Three 100% towels, one to apply and two to wipe off.
Twice a year, I remove the wheels and hand clean and wax the rims.
At the same time I rotate the wheels.

Twice a year, I clean and condition the leathers.
