  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

In reading the owners manual, they show two possible locations for Power Steering Fluid. The way I read it, the location next to the right front fender is for Electrical (????) operated Power Steering, and the location on the front of the engine is for those without.

Well, mine has the fluid added next to the right front fender. Question is, how does this type of Power Steering work?

(I think it MAY be an electric motor that powers the hydraulic pump, [not the engine] but I'm not sure)

You got it. It works like an electric water pump or electric oil pump. It just uses an electric motor instead of a drive belt to operate.

The V8's have the electric steering.

The electric motor is used to save gas as well. The pump/motor only runs when there is demand, and the load is variable dependant upon amount of steering correction. The standard hydraulic pump is powered 10% of the time at full pressure, hence more energy used.
