Front tires were near wear bars (+ due for rotation again) and with winter coming they got gone. Replaced at 30K miles with set of 4 Conti ExtremeContact DWS all season tires. Love the DWS vs. OEM Dunlops. Car rides much better, less noise and better in the rain, so far.

I have an '09 V6 with the OEM Dunlop SP Sport 5000M tires. They need to be replaced now at 28k miles. I bought the car as the second owner with 22k miles. I complained to Hyundai N.A., Dunlop and my dealership with no help from anyone. The tread is so worn down on all 4 tires. In my research the Continentals seem to rank the hights although the Continental Extreme Contact DWS are no where to be found. Therefore I am putting on tomorrow Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus tires. They are the #2 tire...http://www.tirerack.com/tires/surveyresults/surveydisplay.jsp?type=UHPAS
I am very dissapointed that Hyundai put the LAST rated tire on this great car! As we are about to get into the winter driving weather I will post how these Michelin tires are doing.

I want to buy the Continental Extreme tires for my 2011 Genesis, however, I only have 500 miles on my Dunlops. Do you think any tire dealers will take them on a trade. Of course, I know I will have to buy the Continentals, however, maybe at a reduced price. What do you think?

I just turned 16,000miles and it looks like I will get about 30,000 miles from the Dunlops. I intend to replace the Dunlops with a touring tire rather than a performance tire. I would be happy with a 100 MPH rated tire since I never exceed 80.

I hope the touring tires will ride better and be quieter. My Dunlops started to get noisy about 10,000 miles. The noise level seems to have levelled off at 16,000.

Just to let you guys know. My dealership offers free tires for life if you have all service work done at the dealership.

Hah! My dealership (Browns Manassas Hyundai) does that too but its all "dealership recommended" service work done at the dealership. So of course they end up recommending a bunch of unnecessary work. I'll end up paying the dealership more in extra services that they "recommend" than the cost of replacement tires.

Just replaced at 19k. They were done. The 4.6 tears em up, or maybe something is wrong with my foot!

I do about 80% highway and I got rid of them at 32,000. They still had tread but the noise was getting to be too much. Michelin MXV4's are what I replaced them with and they are a great tire.

Just replaced on 1/7/2011; replaced with GY Eagle GTs at 37k.

It was way overdue, but had been hoping to get Continental DWS' to no avail. I'm happy so far with the GYs, but not sure if it's just becasue the Donflops were sooooooooo bad.

Last Oct 09 I drove a G v6 sedan. OEM Dunlaps were loud and rough. In Jan I drove another one. There was maybe 1" of snow. The OEM Dunlaps had no grip. So I got $22/month off and installed Continental Extreme Contacts DWS. Highest rated Ultra High Performance by TireRack.com. Dunlaps were rated 23rd out of 24. Rides much better, quieter, actually goes in snow. The monthly discount paid for the Conti's.

I am getting Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval Indy 500 later this week, which I got for $133 apiece from Tirerack.

They got good reviews and I'm just a Florida warm weather driver. Hopefully they will last as long as the lease does!

Any comments on Tirerack issues, now that I've actually placed the order, BTW? Try not to scare me! I've never "ordered" tires before, but the price WAAAY beat even Sam's Club and BJ's, which indicated the tires for my Genny would be special order and about $230 each. That a "Yikes" for me

Only comment I have re: Tirerack is that their customer service is superb.

If you have ANY questions, call them up with your order # and you'll be transferred to your personal CS representative who will deal with you exclusively throughout the entire order process including (potential) warranty issues later. They're happy to answer all sorts of questions, and leave voicemail updates about the status of your tire shipment along the way (if it's back-ordered, ETA delivery, shipping today, etc).

This company is successful for a reason - repeat customers and positive word of mouth. This model brings cheaper and more effective advertising than any other means.

Let me add my 2 cents to this issue. I have barely <16 K miles. Have had 1 tire replaced due to a bubble on the passenger front within 6 months of owning my '09. This was done N/C because I was a memeber of the Titan group. Just had my 15 k service and they tell me that they barely are passing NY State inspection. I gave Hydunai service my feedback that I have had to park my car for the winter because I do not trust the lovely wife driving with these tires. Waiting till the spring and will go for the Conti...

I made a trip from Miami to NYC with 14,150 miles. In NYC I had to order new tires to replace the crap Dunlop 5000M. I am driving back to FL and now have 16,358 miles and I am praying it doesn't rain before I get home!
I purchased Continental Extreme DW's to replace the Dunlops. Has anybody besides Fast454 received any compensation from their dealer or Hyundai of North America toward the purchase of new tires???

I actually sold my Genesis 4.6 loaded black/black with 32,000 miles on it. The tires were shot and I was up front with the buyer about that. It was on a second set of Dunlops. The first set was replaced (2 early then 2 later), as each was verified by the dealer as being defective in some fashion or another. My vehicle always tested out within alignment specs, and it had never been in an accident of any kind. The next set of four Dunlops were also terrible, and the dealer verfied that two of those four had defects that were causing uneven wear, pulling hard to the left, and loud road noise. Also, at various speeds I'd get that tire "wobble wobble wobble" sound too. Those were the new set of four installed at about 15,000 miles.

Despite the tires being confirmed as defective after having been on only 8,000miles, Hyundai would not help. They said they helped the first time just to be kind, as they weren't obligated to do anything then, but I was the first Genesis owner in Kansas City and they wanted to ensure I was happy. I called all the way up the customer service ladder and eventually a VP level staffer told me no too. So I sold that piece of crap so I never have to deal with Hyundai again. Bought a 2011 BMW 535i. The level of superiority of that vehicle compared to the Hyundai Genesis is unfathomable.

I should have done this the first time around, but the Genesis had just come out and it feigned quality. The first 10,000 miles it was impressive, but then the rattles, shakes, steering pulling, and lower quality materials became apparent. For $42,000, I expected more. I ended up spending around $50,000 for my BMW, and it's been the best additional $8,000 I've spent. High class service and sales, over the top follow up and additional freebies like breakfast when waiting in service, ALWAYS offered a loaner car even for an oil change or minor service visit, and my car is fully detailed before picking it up. If that's not worth the additional $120/mo., then I don't know what is. That doesn't even account for the proven resale value of the BMW (or Audi or M-B) compared to the Hyundai. Makes that additional $8,000 more like an additional $3,000. I would recommend all Genesis 4.6 owners consider a true higher-end performance car their next go-round.

I will say that Hyundai offers a great VALUE with their Genesis line so long as a buyer knows what to expect going into it. It's not a luxury car. It's a mid-level premium sedan with some enhanced options that give it a high-end feel. If Hyundai sold the 3.8 for MSRP around $27,000 and the 4.6 for MSRP around $36,500, they'd have a major hit on their hands. With their current, extraordinary depreciation, the $42,000+ MSRP is simply too high. When your service department treats your $42,000 car owners the same as your $14,000 car owners...well you better just not sell $42,000 cars!! Anyway, my days of begging for a loaner car, dealing with trashy service "advisors," and having my car returned dirtier than I dropped it off are over. And yeah, those tires were junk. That was really the final straw for me.

Dunlops replaced at 29,950 of mostly highway driving - they were smooth. Replaced with Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus.

To early for me to comment on the feel of the Michelins as I only have about 100 miles on them so far. I will say that I like the aggressive look of the tread pattern and the side wall styling (not smooth like the Continentals). These Michelins seem commendably quiet given the aggressive tread pattern.

Michelin just released the Michelin Energy Saver A/S in a size 235-50-18V you can see the tire on the Michelin sight but because this size has just been released you will have to look at the tire in a different size on the tire rack sight. I like my Continental Extreme Contacts DWS but am not overly impressed with how they have handled in snow, ride quality and noise. As I have questioned my need for a performance tire I am thinking about the Michelin Energy Saver A/S I like the reviews on the tire, especially the ride comfort, noise and tread ware. As a passenger tire this tire seems like it may be a better fit for a non spirited driver as myself and may further improve the ride quality of the car. The tire does carry a V rating so the speed rating will remain the same. What do you think???

Replaced Dunlaps with Conti Extreme DWS VERY HAPPY NOW

Year ago this month I bought a 2010 Genny V6 Prem Nav package. After reading sooooo many stories about the jiggly ride, I looked up the Dunlaps on TireRack.com. The D's were rated 23rd out of 24 Ultra High Performance. So I told the dealer I wasn't taking delivery of a near $40k car with crap tires. I drove the demo with D tires and wouldn't go up my driveway with 1" of snow (I traded my 2004 325xi 5 stick since I was tired of shifing and needed larger car to haul family.) I see a lot of complaints about H dealers but I've had the car 11k miles and Dennis Hyundai has been great. I got $22/month off lease to replace the D's with Conti Extreme DWS (top rated by TireRack in Ultra catagory). G rides and handles like a different car. Two or 3 sand tubes in trunk and goes through 6" of Ohio snow. The Conti's retail for same price as the Dunlaps so if H wants to compete with BMW and MB (I've had 3 and 2) mgt better figure out that putting sh*t D tires on G is stupid short term thinking. Dealers could differentiate themsleves from competition by replacing the Ds with better tires and disclosing it in their advertising.

Year ago this month I bought a 2010 Genesis V6 Prem Nav package. I see a lot of complaints about H dealers but I've had the car a year with 11k miles (sits at airport 30+ weeks a year) and Dennis Hyundai in Dublin OH has been great. I drove the demo with D tires and wouldn't go up my driveway with 1" of snow (I traded my 2004 325xi 5 stick since I was tired of shifing and needed larger car to haul family.) After reading sooooo many stories about the jiggly ride (including Consumer Reports), it occured to me it might be the tires. So I looked up the Dunlaps on TireRack.com. I bought Conti Extreme DWS (top rated by TireRack in Ultra catagory) from TireRack, shipped to local Mr. Tire for install. G rides and handles like a different car. Two or 3 sand tubes in trunk and goes through 6" of Ohio snow. More than 6" and I drive 4x4 Tacoma. The Conti's retail for same price as the Dunlaps so if H wants to compete with BMW and MB (I've had 3 and 2) mgt better stop being stupid that putting sh*t D tires on G is short term thinking that costs them a LOT of bad press and lost customers for life. Dealers could differentiate themsleves from competition by replacing the Ds with better tires and advertising they've enhanced the value in their advertising.

TireRack is great! Bought my Continental DWS Extremes there and recently purchased a set of Continental snow and ice tires with rims for my Genesis 4.6 TireRack has great customer service and is always very responsive -- you will not be disappointed.

I do about 60% city and 40% highway driving and noticed lots of noise starting around 23-24K miles...at 28500 I could deal with it no longer as I was embarrassed to let anyone ride with me. Michelin MXM4's were my choice and I am better off in many ways: Improved handling, quieter and being that I increased the size to 245's it looks better too.
