Mine were marginal at just about 24,000 miles. That is really poor performance considering I have never driven over 75, spun a wheel on takeoff, or cornered hard enough to cause a squeal. I am surprised at the folks getting over 30k since mine were almost down to the wear blocks at 24k.

Mine have lasted 33.5K so far, but the ride has really gone south. Its really gotten rough in the past 3k miles. I dont think the side walls are good at supporting the car anymore. I think these tires are probably the worst Ive ever had on a car. Not so luxurious as I thought it should have been.

I just bought my 2012 Genesis a few weeks ago and have 450 miles on the OEM Dunlops. I went to my local Discount Tire's company to explore the option of getting new tires. The offered me $56 per tire to trade in the Dunlops. I was wondering if anyone in a similar situation to me could comment on how much they managed to sell their slightly used Dunlops for.

Thanks so much

I took my 2010 Genesis 4.6 with 300 miles to a Discount Tire and they offered me $50.00 ea. , I than went to another tire dealer who gave me $120.00 ea.

24K is about right for me. I use snows on all 4's NOV-late March. On set #2 of Dunlops since Spring - only have them because I bought them new -rims and all from a DUB SEMA build car. Actually- a find little fault with the tires. I run them at 35psi and they are responsive and when there is tread- good in the rain. Not sure if it is the tire or the suspension that gets the car squirley over bumps- but that is a whole other posting.

Just over 43K on the Genesis now.

I looked up the Dunlap's on TireRack.com and they were rated 23 out of 24 UHP. So after we agreed on a deal, as I was signing the papers, I looked at the dealer and said, "I'm not taking delivery of a $40k car with crap tires". So I said, "You can install new tires (Conti Xtreme DWS which were top rated Jan 2010) or you take $750 off and I'll replace them." Dealer gave me $750. I then sold the D's for $350 on Craigslist. So net of $400 for new tires.

If you give people one choice you back them into a corner of YES/NO. So my strategy is to always give people multiple choices ALL of which are acceptable to you. That way what ever they choose is OK with you.

22,000 miles and still plenty of tread left, unfortunately! The Dunlops are getting real noisy, plus I believe are "one" of the contributing factors to the miserably rough ride in my 09 V8 Genny. (Must be the German blood in me because I can't part with tires ... that still have plenty of tread remaining!) So, what do I do? I test drove an Equus yesterday, by myself for about 30-45 minutes, over some of the worse streets I could find. Now I want a new car... not just different tires.

I had mine replaced two weeks ago at just under 14000 miles. They rode okay but the cupping noise was driving me crazy. I replaced them with Michelin Energy Saver A/S from Costco. During the first week or so they seemed slightly better than the Dunlops but now they pretty much feel the same. I had my alignment done a few days after getting the new tires and the car actually feels a bit rougher since but that's probably just me being paranoid. I am getting slightly better gas mileage to the tune of about 1.5 to 2 mpg according to the trip computer which is pretty sweet. The new tires are much quieter -- no "wuh, wuh, wuh, wuh, ..." above 40 mph so I'm glad I made the change.

Truth be told I was hoping to have a noticeably smoother ride with different tires. Alas, the ride of the Genny is what it is, at least to me...

Make sure the tire pressure is 33PSI

So far I've got 34k on my tires. Just a little bit longer until I can get a 2012 v8.

I finally broke down and replaced my Dunlop's at 15,000 miles. There was still quite a bit of tread left, but the road Noise was getting worse every day. I chose the Michelin Energy Savers and it reduced the noise considerably. I am pleased so far. The Dunlop's were pretty quiet to start out with but started to get noisy at about 5,000 miles I think, and had gotten to the point where I thought there was something else wrong with the car.

I got the tires at the dealer so I almost certainly paid too much, but I also got Alignment, Road force balance, and Road Hazard warranty in the package and if there is a problem, I go back to the dealer. I won't say what I paid but I'm satisfied.

On my last Lexus LS, I was having front end problems and kept going back to the dealer many times without a fix. I had replaced my tires at Costco and they finally claimed that the problem was the tires. I bought tires from the dealer and still had the problem so they said it was alignment and was caused from the faulty tires. I paid for the alignment and still had the problem. They then said that when I had the bad alignment and they put on the new tires, it ruined the tires. After all this run-around, I sold the Lexus and don't want another one. I'm happy with my Genny!

I got about 25,000 miles on my set of Dunlop's. They are not completely worn down but the road nosie is terrible almost unbearable. It I were keeping the car I would replace them ASAP however my lease is up in 4 months. This is the earliest I have had to think about new tires in recent years. I previously owned a BMW 750 Li and never experienced anything like this. My Honda Odyssey with 80,000 mile is quieting than this Geneisis was new.

that last statement is highly doubtful.
there is not a single Honda out there as quiet as a new Genesis. I've owned multiple Honda cars, and they are all noisy.
perhaps you've forgotten how quiet your genesis was when new.

+1...and I've driven Hondas for the last 21 years. ;)

Love my Genny dearly.
But the OEM Dunlop really sucks. I have about 26k with very little tread left and the tire noise is beginning to annoy. The tires were rotated every 5k since the purchase and never burnt the tires. I will have to replace all 4 SOON. May get Michelin Pilot Sport A/s Plus (Y rated-500 UTQG) OR Kumho Ecsta LX Platinum (W rated-600 UTQG).

barely 14k miles. Glad to know I'm not the only one that had this problem.

Just replaced all 4 with Kumho Ecsta LX Platinum. Tires look good and the ride is good as well. No more tire noise from the worn out Dunlops. Will have to wait and see how the 600 UTQG rating holds.

Almost 20,000 miles thus far with a fair amount of tread left.

I actually sold my Genesis 4.6 loaded black/black with 32,000 miles on it. The tires were shot and I was up front with the buyer about that. It was on a second set of Dunlops. The first set was replaced (2 early then 2 later), as each was verified by the dealer as being defective in some fashion or another. My vehicle always tested out within alignment specs, and it had never been in an accident of any kind. The next set of four Dunlops were also terrible, and the dealer verfied that two of those four had defects that were causing uneven wear, pulling hard to the left, and loud road noise. Also, at various speeds I'd get that tire "wobble wobble wobble" sound too. Those were the new set of four installed at about 15,000 miles.

Despite the tires being confirmed as defective after having been on only 8,000miles, Hyundai would not help. They said they helped the first time just to be kind, as they weren't obligated to do anything then, but I was the first Genesis owner in Kansas City and they wanted to ensure I was happy. I called all the way up the customer service ladder and eventually a VP level staffer told me no too. So I sold that piece of crap so I never have to deal with Hyundai again. Bought a 2011 BMW 535i. The level of superiority of that vehicle compared to the Hyundai Genesis is unfathomable.

I should have done this the first time around, but the Genesis had just come out and it feigned quality. The first 10,000 miles it was impressive, but then the rattles, shakes, steering pulling, and lower quality materials became apparent. For $42,000, I expected more. I ended up spending around $50,000 for my BMW, and it's been the best additional $8,000 I've spent. High class service and sales, over the top follow up and additional freebies like breakfast when waiting in service, ALWAYS offered a loaner car even for an oil change or minor service visit, and my car is fully detailed before picking it up. If that's not worth the additional $120/mo., then I don't know what is. That doesn't even account for the proven resale value of the BMW (or Audi or M-B) compared to the Hyundai. Makes that additional $8,000 more like an additional $3,000. I would recommend all Genesis 4.6 owners consider a true higher-end performance car their next go-round.

I will say that Hyundai offers a great VALUE with their Genesis line so long as a buyer knows what to expect going into it. It's not a luxury car. It's a mid-level premium sedan with some enhanced options that give it a high-end feel. If Hyundai sold the 3.8 for MSRP around $27,000 and the 4.6 for MSRP around $36,500, they'd have a major hit on their hands. With their current, extraordinary depreciation, the $42,000+ MSRP is simply too high. When your service department treats your $42,000 car owners the same as your $14,000 car owners...well you better just not sell $42,000 cars!! Anyway, my days of begging for a loaner car, dealing with trashy service "advisors," and having my car returned dirtier than I dropped it off are over. And yeah, those tires were junk. That was really the final straw for me.

Joe

LOL...I just dumped my POS 535i for my Genesis and have been smiling ever since. The Bimmer was CPO and it was in the shop on 5 separate occasions prior to having 30k miles. The front headlight assembly burned out, all sparkplugs and fuel injectors were replaced, 2 HPFP's (google that). Enjoy your Bimmer and get used to driving a loaner...
