  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

How long were you happy with your Genesis?

HI Guys.

my car is been great as far as dependability and features. but, I have never been that impressed with the feel of the engine/acceleration. Anyone ever feel that way here?

Mine is now 17 months old and I'm still lovin it!

I have had a few problems (blown fuse, failed steering wheel positioning mechanism) that were fixed and a few problems (bluetooth issues, navigation system) that were sorta fixed. The high-tech stuff is a problem with all cars and feel that my Genny is just another example of the bleeding edge.

The car is delightful to drive, gives my old body great comfort, and as far as the important stuff is concerned ... performs flawlessly.

Pleased to hear similar opinions from others with an '09 4.6. I've been satisfied beyond expectations, initially being worried about buying a new car in it's first year of production. Maybe I don't drive on bad enough roads, but I was in a loaner 2011 a few weeks ago and had no incentive to trade in the '09. Personal opinion, but prefer the looks of the Genesis to the Equus, but come to think of it, the only temptation I can come up with is the R-spec 2012. Absolutely do not need the extra hp, but I didn't originally! I just kinda like the thought of GDI. Also no regrets about not getting the tech package, it remains of no benefit for my usage.

I think part of the reason you've been satisfied beyond your expectations is as you say: no tech package, which is no longer possible in V8's.

It has been just over 2 years and the only thoughts i've had is whether i'll end the lease early to get the 2012 now or whether i'll wait till the lease ends to get a new genesis?

So far, over 2 years and 16K miles and still quite satisfied. Passengers still amazed/rave too.

I have the original 2009 style Tech package - no software updates and no map updates. Since I don't own/use an iPod (or iAnything) I don't have issues with the poor iAnything integration. And since I have the original software base, the quirks about the later model Tech audio systems turning ON each time the vehicle starts doesn't happen in my car. I do have the occasional A/V system resetting after about 10 to 20 minutes of driving - the XM channels are untunable by the DIS knob (only "0" tunes); I can only access the ones in pre-sets memory. When that happens I've noticed the FM sometimes forgets what station was last tuned so it starts at 87.9 or whatever the low end of the band is, AM too. But I've experienced far less trouble than some folks have noted. And my first-generation steering wheel tilt/telescope system hasn't demonstrated the problem of loosing range or loosing its memory that others have reported.

The only "common problem" my car has demonstrated is the crappy Dunlops. They're almost slicks now.

i still love the car at 3000 miles.
i just came back from a trip during which i was blasting away listening to some mp3 songs (200+) that i burned onto a dvd. effortless power, quiet cabin, awesome audio system.

one thing i am thinking about, though, is getting another car that's sportier, while keeping the genesis. i'm thinking a mini cooper s with stick shift for making short trips around town. the genesis is a total luxury car, so i want another car to satisfy the sportier side of me.

Never been unhappy with the car!

I've really enjoyed the car. I've taken two 1000 mile road trips and felt comfortable and refreshed. The Dunlops had to be replaced at 9000 miles but the dealer split the cost of the new tires with me. The only time I've taken it in was for was the TPMS indicator.

Nitrogen ultimately fixed the problem. Perhaps since I have the premium and not the tech package I've been trouble free. But I think that's still quite good a record and reflects well on Hyundai. When added with how frequently the valets park it right out front with the pricey european makes I say its money well spent.
