If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

how many people have the ultimate package

I would happily pay $350 to get Android Auto retrofitted to my 2015 Genesis "Ultimate" - the navigation system data and route finding as well as the voice recognition ability in my car is utter crap (my 2005 Audi A6 was better on both fronts, so was my 2013 Chrysler 300C), and apparently to get that working a little better I need to fork over $219 ($149 when on sales just before a new version comes out) every time they update the maps. Google Maps is better (route finding), and always up to date, and free.

Add to that the fact that they removed the ability to add "Apps" to the BlueLink (or whatever that's called) and the "Ultimate" doesn't seem so ultimate anymore.

It's very disappointing that the people who paid a premium for the Ultimate trim are apparently getting the shaft on this. I lease my current Genesis, and if this keeps up I'll go back to another brand that cares more about it's customers.

That's my point of view, and I really don't care that other people don't mind that they are getting treated worse than the customers who purchased a Base model for a significantly lower amount of money. If the stuff in my car was working as expected (navigation and voice recognition), I wouldn't mind as much - but the technology in my "Ultimate" spec vehicle doesn't feel ultimate at all - Android Auto fixes most of that (I rent Sonatas with Android Auto every other week - so I have some experience with that).

If Hyundai wants the Genesis experience to be a "premium" experience, they should take care of their best customers (i.e. the ones that purchased the more expensive vehicles - Equus and Genesis Ultimate) first. That's what my airline does - frequent fliers and business/first class passengers are given better treatment than people who purchased the lowest fare tickets - better seats, better food, better in-flight service, early boarding, lounge access, etc. That's how you build loyalty and encourage people to be repeat customers. I lease a new vehicle every 2-3 years - if this experience continues it will not be a Genesis.

Exactly how I feel also.

Ultimate and disappointing news. I love my car and it will be 2 years since I purchased mine. I'm an IT Manager and an Android gear head. Knowing that the non-Ultimate will receive AA but not us is upsetting but at the same time I can't expect my 2 year car to be compatible with the latest and greatest since technology hardware changes all the time.

Side note, if I remember right, the non-Ultimate system platform is that same as the Sonata and Tuscan. So since it is a common platform it will be the same coding between platforms so Hyundai's ROI in regard of happy customer compare to customers with Ultimate platform is greater.

Very disappointed that this feature is not being brought to my car!
i would call up hyundai and make a complaint i feel i spent 50 grand on a car i did

Unreal. smh. Hey - the 2012 Civic my neighbor has didn't come with a backup cam or BT in the base model... but the 2013 did. Should he be disappointed and expect Honda to upgrade his car to include something that wasn't available, wasn't promised and that he didn't pay for?

I might also add - BMW, Merc and Audi suffer similar issues... where a feature or tech that wasn't included in one year is available for later years... and they all paid 20-30k more than you did!:eek::eek: Blasphemy!

Ultimate and supremely pleased with my vehicle. I've never heard of a car manufacturer retrofitting anything other than a recall. Why people feel entitled to someth they didn't pay for is beyond me.

This. It cannot be said any more simply than this. The small group of PAWers we have here need to read this over and over until they get it.

Google Maps is better (route finding), and always up to date, and free.

LOL - oh if you only knew the true costs you were paying for that "free" feature. That being said - it is easy enough to use one's phone or tablet mounted via vent magnet to the dash to accomplish the same thing until you get your next Genesis which will have that feature. Thanks to the BT tech that the Genesis does have - integration to the sound system and using controls on the wheel makes the would-be AA features a breeze.

It's very disappointing that the people who paid a premium for the Ultimate trim are apparently getting the shaft on this.

How are you getting the shaft by not getting something that you didn't pay for or was offered on a car that you don't even own?

I lease my current Genesis, and if this keeps up I'll go back to another brand that cares more about it's customers.

You aren't going to get somethings after the fact for nothing from other brands, either. This includes the Germans. Now - if you prefer to calm down a bit, run out your lease and re-up it - you will find you have the tech you are in such a tizzy about.

That's what my airline does - frequent fliers and business/first class passengers are given better treatment than people who purchased the lowest fare tickets - better seats, better food, better in-flight service, early boarding, lounge access, etc.

But you know about and pay for those features up front. They aren't giving you jack for free... and they do not come to your house after you have landed and give you a nice seat, feed you ANY food or invite you back to their lounge just for giggles... unless you want to buy another ticket and go through the checkin process.

You didn't pay for AA... so - sorry, but you don't get use that as a complaint point for the fact that you aren't getting it.

I lease a new vehicle every 2-3 years - if this experience continues it will not be a Genesis.

This experience will continue for the remainder of your current lease term. With your new lease on your new car - if it is a Genesis - that experience regarding that issue will not continue. But - I am sure you will find something else that comes available later on which wasn't included that you can bitch about. That being said - you can expect the same "problems" from the Germans... and you will have paid 20-40% more to have it.

Very disappointed but not surprised. I have bought nothing but Hyundai since 2002 and have generally been happy but may elsewhere next time. Looked at Lincoln with Lexus before buying genny. Don't care for most of Honda/Acura power train offerings.

Count me in as an Ultimate owner. I know many people are upset that the Ultimate was not included in the AA ACP update. Frankly, I'm not bothered. I have a great car that does want I want it to do. When I buy/lease my next vehicle, whatever make that might be, I will enjoy AA or ACP on the new car. Not worried I can't get it on my current car.

as a software engineer, I almost guarantee that is what it is. Or something like the system in the ultimate edition is produced by a 3rd party or something.

it sucks, but when they made those decisions when designing the car I am sure they werent considering if a technology would be compatible with it or what the cost would be to have another implementation created for a separate system

It is disappointing as I would love to dump the iPhone (not a fan) and get an Android. However, without AA support, I'd lose the Siri Eyes Free type of functionality that I do like and use. The bigger thing for me is Waze - I would love to have that on the Nav screen with AA. I guess I'll just have to keep running it on my phone which is a little kludge.

That said, I'm still glad I got the Ultimate as the HUD alone is worth the extra cost. Throw in the matte wood/real aluminum and better stereo system and I have no regrets on choosing the highest trim level. In addtion, I drove several non-Ultimate loaners and absolutely HATED the touch only interface. Using the DIS controller is a WAY better experience and makes interacting with the system much easier - especially when driving.<snip>

I generally agree with this post; now that I've lived with one, I would never give up my HUD nor the control dial. I also agree with the point about Waze: that is definitely the AA/ACP killer app. About the only thing I don't get that I was hoping for with AA/ACP was integrated notification of text messages. I can do pretty much all the other stuff with a combination of the SIRI integration and the Bluelink subscription.

What I'm curious about is how they plan on solving this with the G90. I'd be surprised if the hardware they were using wasn't based off the same hardware that the Ultimate is based on.

For the guys saying that Ultimate is the highest trim package...
The Hyundai Ultimate is the highest trim level in USA. In Korea and UAE, there is the Finest Edition which adds rear seat recline and two TV's (18 channels) in the back.

Rub it in :D

i wonder how many people have the ultimate package that are kinda mad that they will not get apple car play or android i know i am

I have the Genesis Ultimate 5.0 and from what I hear about the changes to the entire system from 3.8 users, I'm glad I cant upgrade. Still mad about spending $55,000 on an Ultimate car and not able to upgrade like a $22,000 Sonata.

Anyway. There's always something.

Seattle Genesis.

THANKS !!!

As Ive stated before on other threads. Hyundai's model options for different regions makes no sense to me. Soft closing doors, rear entertainment, suede headliner, bi-zenon lights, reclining rear seats, panoramic cameras and many many other items get on the other regions of the world and not on the North American market. These are the items that make up a luxury car and not to have them really defeats the idea of a luxury car. I'm hoping the G90 will have MOST everything the other markets will have. I will not be happy to see any difference.

In the NA market, some of those features are not on most luxury models, aside from some higher end models at six figures and up. Bi-xenon and pano cameras are more the norm, but the limo style back seat features tend to do better in the far east markets. Many of those items also add up and until the Genesis is accepted as a high end model, it needs to compete mostly on price and it is a fine line between cost and features to move into that market.

I'm one of the Ultimate owners if you're still counting. 3.8 AWD. Love the vehicle (once they replaced the squeaky panoramic sunroof).

You are all correct in saying Hyundai has really let down the people who spent the extra money and are left out of the CarPlay upgrade.. It gives Hyundai a black eye in the support of their new division.

Sorry, I cannot agree. I do not feel that Hyundai has let me down at all. I got exactly what I paid for and nothing else. Perhaps the folks who got a the CarPlay upgrade should be extra grateful.

Samsung/AT&T recently upgraded my $600 cell phone to the newest version of Android - no charge. Hyundai is unwilling/unable to upgrade their top of the line model Genesis that cost $50,000, but willing to do the same for the $38,000 base model?

I want customers like you, that way I can get away with providing poor service and won't have to invest anything into keeping my customers happy.

How about the fact that, along with the Carplay/AA upgrade, the non Ultimate owners got a map upgrade to 3D maps and better voice recognition? We Ultimate owners can get those 2 upgrades too - IF we spend $219 to get the V10 maps at Mapnsoft! How is that for treating the buyers of your most expensive trim level? And they'll buid a loyal following for their new brand this way? I think NOT!

Verizon updated my Samsung smart phone to the newest version of Android several weeks ago. I'm pretty sure that my monthly payment to Verizon pays for periodic updates. My Genny is so new, I can't imagine needing some kind of upgrade to something that I don't want or need. I'll say one more time: I believe that I got exactly what I paid for; AND, I have no expectations of getting something (of real value) for nothing.

I'm on my third Genesis and I have yet to have poor service.

I recommend that you not be so adamant (and insulting) about others' opinions. You have yours; please allow me (and others) to have a differing one.
