how many people have the ultimate package

How about the fact that, along with the Carplay/AA upgrade, the non Ultimate owners got a map upgrade to 3D maps and better voice recognition? We Ultimate owners can get those 2 upgrades too - IF we spend $219 to get the V10 maps at Mapnsoft! How is that for treating the buyers of your most expensive trim level? And they'll buid a loyal following for their new brand this way? I think NOT!
This is where Hyundai has made a error in judgment and building the brand. I have no big problem with not getting Carplay because a) I didn't expect and wasn't promised it (though it was mentioned by the salesman that Hyundai was working on this upgrade and b) it seems to be a hardware problem with the Ultimate 9.2" screen system. Perhaps naively, I'm assuming that Hyundai would have loved to provide Carplay to all, but they designed the hardware without realizing that its design would preclude a Carplay upgrade.

However they made a big mistake with including the map upgrade with the AA/Carplay upgrade. I think someone else here suggested that, in fairness to their premium buyers (and simply good sense) Hyundai should offer a free upgrade to the V10 maps to all Ultimate owners. In fact, it makes so much sense, for relatively small expense, that I'm sure they won't do it! :D

Verizon updated my Samsung smart phone to the newest version of Android several weeks ago. I'm pretty sure that my monthly payment to Verizon pays for periodic updates. My Genny is so new, I can't imagine needing some kind of upgrade to something that I don't want or need. I'll say one more time: I believe that I got exactly what I paid for; AND, I have no expectations of getting something (of real value) for nothing.

I'm on my third Genesis and I have yet to have poor service.

I recommend that you not be so adamant (and insulting) about others' opinions. You have yours; please allow me (and others) to have a differing one.

I'm on my first Genesis, and the experience so far has not been up to par for what I expect from a luxury brand.

I continue to have very noticeable vibration issues from the wheels/tires, even after the dealer charged me $60 to get the wheels balanced (this is just after I picked up the car from the lot - new), I had them balanced again (at no charge) by Discount Tire (kudos to them, they understand customer service) - I still have strong vibrations while driving. The car also exhibits strong vibration when stopped with the engine running, so noticeable in fact that passengers have asked about it.

The voice recognition system in my car is pretty much useless - much worse than my 2013 Chrysler 300C and my 2005(!!!) Audi A6 - the success rate is less than 25%, even for simple things such as "Go home". The navigation system is poor (picks bad routes, has lead me off and then onto a highway several times, missing roads, ...). The BlueLink remote start doesn't work 50% of the time (I pay a monthly fee for that), and the apps that were supposedly going to be available for download have quietly disappeared. I pay a monthly fee for that service just like I pay for my cell phone. I should have an expectation that this stuff works, without me investing even more money (for a map update). Especially since I purchased the premium version of their car - not a base model.

You are entitled to your opinion - I will continue to be adamant about mine. My response to you contained no insult, neither actual nor implied. You seem to be a consumer that is happy with what they got - I simply commented on that fact that companies enjoy having customers like you. That is not an insult.

AustinTX, you wrote: "I want customers like you, that way I can get away with providing poor service and won't have to invest anything into keeping my customers happy. "

Perhaps you believe that condescending remarks are not insulting, I do. And, I recommended that you not be so adamant about others' opinions, not your own.

BTW, I am sorry that you are having so many unpleasant issues with your Genny. Take it in and make the dealer repair them to your satisfaction (and don't pay for any of the repairs). If you are lucky enough to live in a city (Austin?) with multiple dealers, you should be able to get satisfaction from at least one of them. If I were you, I would press that dealer that charged you for balancing your wheels on a new Genny to get my money back. Good luck!

The voice recognition system in my car is pretty much useless END QUOTE]

I too had the vibration when my car was delivered. I swapped tires (Michelin paid for two) and the problem was vastly improved, but not eliminated.

The Google Voice recognition is flawless in my car. I've yet to ask for directions and not get what I was asking for.

I am most definitely a non-Ultimate owner - so I got all these wonderful things like 3D maps, Carplay/AA, and better voice recognition. Wow!

I just knew I did something right - Only prob. I bought the car for all the right reasons - a nice V8, eight speed xmsn, and last of all - Did you notice?

Hyundai came in 3rd today on the latest quality control reviews.

You appear to have completely missed my point!

I did not buy my car based on a promise of Carplay or AA and while I am disappointed that the top line model doesn't get it, I can understand if there really is a hardware issue. However, there is absolutely no excuse for not providing the update to improve the ATROCIOUS voice recognition (non Google Bluelink) they shipped this car with or the 3D maps - that is just plain bad customer service!

That said, the HUD and better DIS contols (and stereo) you get with the Ultimate trumps the other stuff.

BTW - my signature should provide a hint as to why I'll take your info on the Hyundai QC ranking with a grain of salt...

Sorry, I cannot agree. I do not feel that Hyundai has let me down at all. I got exactly what I paid for and nothing else. Perhaps the folks who got a the CarPlay upgrade should be extra grateful.

I, too, got lucky with my Ultimate.....no squeaks or complaints.....

I just passed 3 yrs on my 2015 Ultimate. First of all, I almost bought a MB because the dealers in the NW had no 2WD Ultimates and no interest in ordering one. Fortunately one came in 50 miles away. In other words, without the Ultimate package the Genny was another near luxury car. The Azera was a better deal and my previous car was an Azera. My Bluelink expired on the three year anniversary and three years use showed my the best feature was the Google to car and the most useless was the Connected Care, and Remote only worked about 20% as it relied on cell coverage. Since the Google feature required the first two it is all lapsed. Maybe $100/yr would be acceptable.
Big disappointment is Lane Keep Assist, I live in hills so it is near worthless to the point of actually dangerous. Big love is HUD. Ruins me for rent cars.
I am a member of the group that thinks Map Updates should be free or very cheap in this supposed luxury car. Likely no new Genny in my future MB, maybe.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I have a 2015 Ultimate and disappointed like the most of you. To have the top of the line model and it doesn't come with the features that a lower model does is ridiculous. The feature would be nice but I still enjoy my Genny without it. Also wish the speaker system would sound louder instead having to plug in the in-line, just a little gripe.

I had the vibration issue. It turned out to be the Michelin Primacy MXM4 tires. The original set had the problem, and so did the replacement set. I was able get a set of Conti Extreme Contact DWS06 as a replacement, and the problem was solved. I don't say that the Michelin MXM's are always bad. (I drove a couple of loaners that had no issue with those tires.)

My belief is that when Hyundai decided to switch to the MXM4s after the Hankook recall, they got a higher than normal percentage of bad tires. Both of my first 2 sets were road force balanced, and I still had the vibration issue at certain speeds. Once I got the Conti's, no issue.

My '15 Genesis has been, and is still totally flawless. No problems at all.

Fluff gadgets like the voice recognition are nothing but silly little toys. Maybe by 2020, they will be realistic - maybe even useful.

Meanwhile, I love my nice smooth 420 hp. V8

Ultimate here. I was under the impression I HAVE CarPlay but I don't charge my phone in the car thus I'll never plug it in anyway. That said, I ALWAYS stream the iPod function of my iPhone via Bluetooth. Works just fine and handsfree the same without the fancy interface.

I have an ultimate, the car offers everything I need so don't really care about the car play or apple thing. It def wasn't a deal breaker by any means.

Lucky you, my car is developing new issues all the time ...

The voice recognition - if it works - is anything but a silly little toy. It's useful and adds to driving safety. Audi and Chrysler (and others) have this figured out, for years.

8 trips to the dealership in 16 months, and issues remain unresolved. Nothing "smooth" here unfortunately ...

I know this thread is under 2015-2016 Genesis but I see several people have commented on their 2017 Ultimates so I though I would chime in also. At first a was disappointed about not having CarPlay but after I realized that you have to connect with USB I realized I would never use it. Dealer was straighfrward about it not having CarPlay but we went over Siri Handsfree and the Voice activated Google search that is built in. I am very happy with both. I can get destinations fully integrated with the car's nav system and send and receive text messages. I am entirely happy with my Ultimate. No problems from day 1. I think they have really improved voice recognition. I use it all the time and it is now better than my Lexus ever was.
Dealer (Keyes Genesis Van Nuys) is going to drop off a Genesis loaner tomorrow and take mine in for the 7,500 service. I'll let you know how smoothly that goes. Makes me a little nervous not to be in service dept when they work on the car.

BTW I think a lot of postings in this section could really apply to 2017 models also. It is a shame to have it broken out this way.

BTW I think

I've not had any issues with my almost 2 year old Ultimate. I use Siri Eyes Free regularly and it works to my satisfaction. I have a friend that has Apple CarPlay in his GMC pickup and frankly the features it offers I would not use. As another poster noted you have to plug into the USB port for CarPlay to function. I would consider that a slight pain. Regarding voice recognition, that feature works well in my car. The Acura TL I had before the Genesis did have considerable more voice control functions. I'm somewhat surprised that the newer Genesis had fewer available voice control commands.

I have not seen any comments on the multiple threads about this topic saying they would pony up the cash if it were at all possible to get the feature added.

I would definitely pay to have that update. I hate the voice interface of the car, its almost useless. The fact that I have to pay the outrageous price a year for Bluelink in order to get remote start and useful Google Search in the car is ridiculous. But other thank that I love the car. Hell, I've been thinking about trying to do a custom rom in order to support what we want.

There is not nearly enough processor left in the ultimate head unit to do any more stuff. It's already horribly mushy. Even my signature display is pretty slow and HMA let me upgrade it to AA and Carplay. Big deal. I am after decent sound quality for music, and that involves providing your own, a la USB stick.

i specifically went with a used 2015 tech package for android auto as it was a requirement for me. i got hooked on AA after using it on a rental car and would not buy another car without it.

I don't think we have to wait much past 2019 before car makers realize they are out of their league when it comes to firmware. Since almost all of it now resides in the head unit, it makes sense that a mfr would contract an organization that does this for business. Volvo went with Google. Ford is entangled with Microsoft. Nissan and Toyota are part of an industry coalition called AGL (Automotive Grade Linux).

But the real problem is the automobile dealers associations in the USA who demand they get a cut for software updates (and got a provision for just that in their last negotiations with the industry), preventing OTA (over the air) updates until there is some way in which they still get their cut. Which will never happen. Dealers could make it very painless, but they won't. It will just be expensive. Tesla got away with it because they were already dialed out of the dealer network, not able to even sell cars in some states, so OTA was a great way for Musk to demonstrate the future--the future without the automobile dealership we know today.

On the upside, by then many media options will be available, and more because the owner will be able to add them. It will have the ability to expand its storage capacity to hold even the largest media collections.
