  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

How much are people paying to tint their windows?

Just had mine installed today by Solar-tec Glass Tinting in Eustis Florida. This is about the 4th or 5th car I had him do.

$120. Same as what I paid him a couple years ago. He used the 35% Llumar, (the legal limit) the metelized on the side windows and the non metelized on the rear window. He has been doing windows for 22 years, so I guess he knows what he is doing. Took him a little over an hour to do the job.

Looks like you split time between 3 states (not sure if you drive the same car to all 3).

Here are the legal limits for Front Side Windows, Rear Side Windows, and Rear Window respectively (minimum visible light transmission percent):

FL 28%, 15%, 6%
NY 70%, 70%, ANY
NM 20%, 20%, ANY

No tint film on front windshield is permitted (except for a band at the top).

BTW: Llumar has about 4 dyed films, 3 metallic films, and 3 combo films (dyes and metal). Each of these films comes in various levels of VLT (visible light transmission) such as 20, 35, 50, etc

thanks for the very informative post mark 888. If my car isnt in the garage at home its in a garage at work. I think I am going to try to get around 20% on the 4 side windows and something a little darker on the back window. I will be illegal but I think Ill be ok :D
