If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The new version of the Genesis winged steering wheel emblem is available here: Genesis Steering Wheel Emblem in 3D - Genesis Owners

I am going to buy the emblems for my 2011 Genesis sedan. I have seen plenty of instructions in this forum on high to remove the rear trunk emblem but nothing on the removing the existing H on the steering wheel.

I assume you just pry it off, however, it looks like it would be easy to mess up the leather horn padding around it. Who has pryed this off to install the wing emblem and what did you use to do it safely? How easy do it come off?

Thanks for your help!

Leave the H and stick the wing emblem over it. Its a perfect fit and thats how it is suppose to work. Look at my pic in the pictures section of this forum to see a good photo of how mine looks. Hope this helps.

That is great, thanks for the information. I will try to find your pics. My H is raised and I thought it would have to be removed but I am glad it doesn't.

I noticed you did not put the wing emblem on the hood. Any particular reason for not doing that? I am torn between putting it on my hood or not putting it there. Sometimes it look bare and sometimes it look sleek.

Wife likes it without the front emblem and she drives the car more than I do. So no front emblem.

I was concerned that the stick-on-over-the-flying-H was going to look tacky when I rebadged, but it looks just fine.

I also removed the "Genesis" from the tail and left the 4.6 and did NOT badge the front... I like the clean look and just last week, some guy at a golf tournament asked if it was a Bentley. Interesting facial expressions when he heard me say it was a Hyundai.

Or another option: replace the airbag. I thought the stick-on emblem I put over the H looked gaudy, and cheap looking, so I replaced the airbag to Korean spec.

Scottdk is right on the difference in the looks. This is what I have in my car. However, there is a $300 or more difference in price.

When the air bag deploys in front of your face, will you trust the sticky tape to prevent the badge from ripping through your eyes or carotid artery?
If my memory serves me correctly the cost of a whole airbag cover was about $150.

I also pondered it, but in the end had the entire airbag replaced as scottdk did. It looks amazingly sharp!

I also sold my factory air bag on Ebay, and it only took a couple of days and sold.

With that said, the new KDM airbag only cost me around $90 after selling the factory airbag. That's super cheap for an airbag unit, especially the KDM version.

Woah.... quick question; Your wood, it appears to be SATIN finish instead of the super gloss style in my 2011. Is that OEM or did you do something to the wood to de-gloss it to a satin (?)!

Hi:

Sorry if this is old.

Rear trunk emblem removal - let sit in sun, peel?

Thanks,

SJ

I wasn’t clear. The rear Genesis, 3.8 and HTrac emblems.

So yes - sun, plastic razor blade from Menards - now to Goo-B-Gone

It's okay to use a hair dryer too. Just don't use a blow torch, or a paint remover gun. Some folks use a soft fishing line to slice and dice.

Fishing line helps remove it. Slide behind the emblem and use a sawing motion to remove.

See no sense whatsoever in removing the Genesis lettering, personally I want people to know what I’m driving...what are you guys that remove the name ashamed of your ride?

Not at all - want the lines on the car to do the talking.
