If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Hyundai Equus Roll Call!

No BS on my part. I have been waiting anxiously for my Equus Ultimate and was just informed by my dealership that due to the fact that only a limited number of black noir with cashmere interior were produced he has had a very difficult time locating one. News Flash! One has been located and allocated to me:). I should receive it the week of March 23rd after it is processed through the Port near Houston, TX and delivered to my dealer...picks will definitely follow:grouphug:

Well good luck with the wait, i wouldn't be able to sleep! lol. Looking forward to seeing pics when it arrives!!

I got mine last Wednesday...Yippee! I promise pictures will follow just as soon as I get a chance to "snap and post". I have already changed the rear badge from the Flying "H" to the EQUUS one and added "VS460" on the right rear...looks awesome if I must say so myself! It may be going in for tint tomorrow so I will snap pictures after that time. It is all that and a bag of chips! I absolutely love the ride, feel, and design of this car.

Just picked up my Equus on Saturday. Signature in Granite Gray with black interior. Paid $54,200 for it (that includes the $1,000 loyalty rebate).

Re: Hyundai Equus Roll Call! - From Lexus to Equus - 2011

 Just became an Equustrian and left a 2002 Lexus LS 430 behind.
Have had the Horse for a couple of weeks and into 'Horse Whispering' at this time ... so far, the Horse is responding as it should.
Looking forward to mutually beneficial interactions and communication in this Forum.

I have an 2011 Equus. When I first bought the car I noticed that the sound system did not sound right. I waited until the 6500 mile service to fix it. The dealer replaced the entire driver information system. When I got the car back from the dealer I tried to put an address into the GPS. I could not find the state Alabama in the menu. So I took the car back to the dealer and they also discovered there was no state of Alabama in my GPS. The information was sent to Hyundai tech support. After a four day wait for a return call it was discovered that no one knows why it is missing and nobody knows how to fix it. They said if they replace the driver information system (3rd one in the car) it will have to bench tested it before it ships. They said that they were truly stumped.

Now this is how Equus Customer Service handles a problem.

I just got off the phone with Equus customer service for the fifth time and their answer is there is nothing they can do right now. They said that have to "do more research the problem before a plan of action can be put in place."
It takes a week just to get a return phone call from Tech Support. I wonder how much time it takes to "do more research?" a day? a week? a year? They will not say. They just said wait.

To me it's not really about the GPS. Its the way they are handling this issue. It's like since this is a problem that customer service didn't train on what to say. They just get dumbfounded and tell me to wait. In one conversation I was told that they are showing their commitment because they have "already put one $7,000.00 system in the car" Well it doesn't work.

Realize the fact the a critical part of the car with a major problem got all the way from design to production through quality control all then to the customer without this problem ever being noticed.
What else could be the same way? How do I know the traction control doesn't have a problem. or any other electronics? What is next?

The car has had in less than 90 days old.

Is this the return of the original Hyundai? It seems like it to me.

Ennesco2011:

If the dealer's techs, presumably in accord with Hyundai techs, are working on the solution to a problem they've never seen, what was the purpose of the call to Hyundai/Equus Customer Service? Their response is what I'd expect:an apology and "hell if i know". You understand that the CS folks get their info from the techs, right? As for quality control, there have been over 1500 Horses sold. This is the first time anyone has posted that Alabama isnt covered by the map/guidance. Not to mention almost 5 years of the Genesis with the same system. That's actually a pretty good record for this particular problem. Not saying there haven't been other but you get the point.
As for what else could be wrong, specifically traction control, it's a huge leap from "missing Alabama" to "is my car unsafe"?
Keep us informed, thanks.

I feel for you having to go through this terrible ordeal that should never have happened! How could a whole state not be in the mapping system? It would seem that the central issue is focused upon the programmers not doing their job and they certainly can spend a few man hours updating their data base. Which should not be too difficult really.
Hang in there and let us know the outcome.

I am planning on trading my 06' Toyota prius into the 2012 Genny sedan r-spec and have been toying around with the idea of a 2012 signature Equus due to the really bone jarring "sporty" rough ride on somewhat bad roads of the r-spec...But 10 grand difference is alot to contemplate for me. Feel free to hit me up via e-mail how the "ride" differs of the air suspension Equus on less than perfect roads than the 2012 genny r-spec if you have driven one, all you present owners if you have a moment. I thank you in advance for your time.
Thanks

You "feel" for the troll who chose to ignore his original "problem" for 6500 miles? And conflates a missing state with safety issues? Interesting.
And you want us to email you with comments about the air suspension? Because the numerous words on these boards are too tough to wade through?
Btw, nice job working in the words "bone jarring" and "rough ride".

Have a nice day!

Update on my "No Alabama in my GPS problem"
My Equus is still in the shop and the Hyundai still has not been figured out how to fix the problem.
The reason I have a safety concern is simple. The only reason they are aware of the GPS issue is because the problem can be seen by me. There are no "fault codes" showing when it was checked out. This means that according to the software nothing is wrong.
What else was missed? How do I know that nothing else was missed? I should trust Hyundai?
I bought and paid for an Equus. But I have Been driving a Sonata with no end in sight.

I'm calling BS. Equus owners are give another Equus or a Genesis to drive as loaners, not Sonatas. And, if Navteq somehow DID screw up and leave Alabama off the map, how would you expect a fault "code" to appear?
To recap:
1. Your sound system didn't 'sound' good and you ignored it for 6500 miles.
2. Your map doesn't show Alabama (feature or bug?) so you questioned whether your traction control was next to go.
3. You cut and pasted that on 3 different threads here, Edmunds, and who knows where else.
And if by some slim chance you're telling the truth, which dealer did you purchase from? I'm pretty sure prospective buyers would like to avoid it lest they be stuck with a Sonata too.
