  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Love the look of the 2-toned leather dash. Nice touch.

Welcome, DGC! I believe that's going to be a very popular option...

I guess I can share the pics I took at the Philly and NY auto show. Any way to I guess create a sub-forums so that pics don't get lost in the shuffle?

Here's Philly:

Here are the first 10 pics I took at the Phiily show:

I have posted the pics I took at the NY Auto show, but to my disappointment, there was no floor model of the Genesis sedan to climb into.

I just didn't get it. There was a lot of excitement about the 2010 genesis coupe but you would think that Hyundai would use the NY Auto show to promote and display with great enthusiam the upcoming sedan. I ask the rep there why there wasn't a floor model and she said that they were limited in space, mind you they had a display coupe and a floor coupe, but you couldn't climb into it. She said that they were limited in space. She also said that she didn't know why there was no floor model because they had them at the Detroit and Chicago auto shows.

You spend millions of dollars to show the superbowl commercials but when the NY auto show comes around and a chance to really show the production model of the sedan that is due out this summer, you don't. Instead you floor display a coupe that is not due to be out till next summer, and no one can climb into it.

I think that this was a major missed opportunity for Hyundai and that marketing is something that they really need to think about. I can tell you that some people were turned off because when the rep started her speech, people were turning away and walking away. I heard people there, like me, that were at the Philly show and hoped to see a floor model there.

First of all, welcome aboard.

Well, you are not alone. I've heard the other shows had the floor model where all the doors were unlocked so you could play around with the interior gadgets, so I was kinda expecting to see some floor models in the NY show as well, but to my disappointment, there wasn't. Only one car on the turntable for display.

I really had low expectations to these Genesis to begin with but I WAS looking forward to see myself trying out the seats and everything. This NY show just wasn't worth $14.00 entrance fee, since, not only the Hyundai booth, there were few others that I got disappointed with that they had when the fee was lower about 2 years back.

The lack of space excuse just isn't good enough, since it is all money based. If Hyundai had paid a bit more, they could have afford large enough area, if not as big as Chevy and others did, but they could have gotten big enough space to display couple floor models of Genesis sedan, a turntable display for their new Elantra Touring(even though the one floor model they had of it was all unlocked, though I wasn't interested in trying it out since it was nothing more than an expanded Hyundai I-30 for Europe and Korea) and then some.

Hyundai is the wealthiest auto make in Korea, and this was just UN-excusable.

Unknown_Owner - welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up! You've taken some really amazing pictures! I agree that the New York Auto Show was a lost opportunity for Hyundai. And I do agree that their marketing team needs some serious education. But I wouldn't be surprised if they were simply limited in regards to room - to take away some of their glory. That's probably a longshot but it really wouldn't surprise me..

The Hyundai Genesis has been stirring up a lot of talk. I'm sure many players in the game want to keep them down at this point.. As ridiculous as that sounds - consider the fact that Toyota tried to keep parts manufacturers from supply Hyundai with parts! People are really worried about Hyundai.
