  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I voted "perfect"; however, if there was a choice of a "a little soft" I would have chosen that.
Anyone who has driven a BMW would never say that the Genesis is too firm.

Agreed. I have a 528 and voted for too soft...

:o Have to agree with Glickric: for me, on good freeway, suspension is "perfect". On expansion joints and bad roads, suspension transmits jarring effect to both front and rear seats, which is unsettling at higher speeds when you temporarily get jerked around. Needs more fine tuning for the "bad roads" effects.

Complaint? no, just an honest answer to the question raised here. I don't think we have to "black & white" this issue and label others as whiners or complainers. All input and feedback on this issue is valid and worthy of consideration...

I voted too firm, just because on certain parts of the Interstates around here, you can't even take a drink because you are bouncing so much. I don't ever recall my Chrysler 300C bouncing as much, and that car was a POS! I would like a softer suspension on the straightaways and stiffer when cornering, is that possible? ;) Don't get me wrong, I love the vehicle and I would rather have a stiffer suspension than a softer one, but a more balanced one would be perfect!

Even if the suspension is neither too hard, nor too soft, it is not necessarily "perfect." There is more to a suspension than not being too soft or too hard.

Reportedly, the suspension as originally designed was felt to be too soft for the US market (it remains softer in Korea and most other markets), so they tightened it up. Perhaps if they had a little more time to re-engineer it from scratch to the correct amount of firmness, they can have a suitably firm ride for control without the "jiggly" nature on rough and undulating roads.

After 900 miles on all types of road conditions I still love the ride. No problems at all from my perspective, but then this is a subjective topic!

First Post...

I replaced a 2006 Lexus GS430 with a 4.6 with Tech Pkg.

If the road is glass the Genesis rides as smooth as any of the finest autmobiles no matter what the price range. For my taste, the ride is too coarse when the road get rough at both low and high speeds. One advantage the GS had was the electronically adjustable suspension that was available only with the V8. There was a noticable variance between sport and comfort. I would describe the Genesis as firmer than the sport setting but ONLY when the road is less than ideal. I think the value of this site will be that Hyundai may listen to the many comments we are all making and continue to evolve this fine automobile.

Perfect for me coming out of a M35 Sport where every encounter with a road defect could have been followed by a trip to the dentist! Perfect in the sense that I am not floating, nor am I rolling down the street in a steamroller.

+1.....

I own a 01' BMW 540iMspt with M-tech suspension upgrade which is stiffer & lower than the regular 540i suspension. I wouldn't consider buying the Genesis because the suspension is way too soft & doesn't have enough feed back. But the Genesis Coupe on the other hand is another story since it's much more sport oriented. Looking forward to driving it.

I was very happy with the ride although the Genesis belongs to another family member. I mainly drive a 06 TL. This car does feel tighter than the TL, but I'm thinking that it was grand new. I would like to drive again when the car has about 5k miles on the odometer.
