However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. So the 2015 Hyundai Genesis fully loaded with rear wheel drive will cost about $55,000. The Lincoln MKS basically fully loaded with twin turbo Ecoboost engine AND all wheel drive costs about $52,000. Unless I missed some expensive options - but I don't believe I did.

Both cars are really nice. I think Hyundai is being a little bold with the pricing on this new Genesis but the car is still damn good for the money. What are your thoughts on this?

I THINK the Hyundai Genesis is going to feel more "premium" than the Lincoln MKS - which impresses me (I'm still shocked at how Hyundai vehicles have become so good since the early days driving as a passenger in the Excel).

I shopped the MKS when I was looking. I found the interior to be cramped for the driver so I did not even test drive it. The Genesis has much more shoulder and head room.
In Canada, the MKS tops out at $62k plus delivery and taxes so is about the posted price of a fully loaded 2015 Genesis 5.0awd.
I would not get one myself.

I hear the 2015 Genesis has even more room in the front - but loses a little in the back. A couple of inches.

Is AWD available for the 5.0 liter Genesis in 2015? I thought not...

I am in Canada and it has already been confirmed for here.

It seems slightly (slightly) insane that it won't be available here. :p It doesn't snow here in Florida but all wheel drive certainly makes a nice difference in the rain - which it does a lot of here (though it clears up quickly :))...

All Genesis sedans in Canada come standard with AWD in 2015. But there is a brutal price to pay in terms of MPG for the Genesis Sedan AWD, so it is understandable why Hyundai Motor America decided to only offer AWD on the V6, at least initially.

Snows plenty in the NE but no AWD option with 5.0. Will consider the 3.8 AWD if performance is acceptable.

Honestly? All the leather in the world can't hide the fact that the MKS is just a tarted up Taurus and that platform itself is antiquated. The Taurus/MKS platform(formerly the Volvo S80's platform) was never designed for a car that large so what you end up with is a large car on a short wheelbase and a cramped interior. Even with a turbo V6, the MKS isn't much faster than the Genesis 3.8 since it has to haul 4500+lbs. The last MKS that Motor Trend tested stickered for over $58K http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/sedans/1210_2013_lincoln_mks_ecoboost_first_test/ Not to mention the AWD system the MKS has is just to compensate for it being FWD and isnt nearly as advanced as the Genesis' system. I'd go Genesis all the way.

At the Fort Lauderdale Auto show we sat in the new Lincoln and found it to be very cramped compared to the 2014 Genesis. I am 6'1" and I could not stretch out my legs in the MKS.

The interior of the MKS was not to my liking and the comfort of the drivers seat is not up to par with the 2014 Genesis which some on here don't like either. I felt the 2014 Genesis interior superior to the MKS in my opinion.

Can't wait to sit in the new 2015 Genesis.

That's a test "motor trend you mentioned" is a 2013........ not quite fair to compare it to a "not yet arrived" 2015 Genesis.

Larry, here is the accurate info on the MKS platform, not your distorted short version. Since I have owned two of these D3 platform vehicles, I can verify that they give a very nice ride.

As to the current MKS, the driver cockpit comfort is inferior to the current Genesis. Seat is too narrow and console intrudes on legroom.

C'mon Sal, if you are going to make this type of comparison - at least make it w/ the XTS or maybe the RLX (and not the MKS which is towards the end of its life cycle).

Except that 2013 is a just refreshed model. How is this not fair? I didn't start the thread

I'm sorry, but exactly what part of my post is inaccurate? Distorted? Yeah, ok.

Truth be told, the RLX is probably the weakest car out of the bunch. It just doesn't come close to living up to its price tag. It's no wonder it's been a dud since going on sale.

"Never designed for a car that large" has no basis in fact, as far as I know. My '09 Taurus has a 21 cu ft trunk and the interior is huge.

That is a fact. The only reason the Taurus has such a large trunk is so Ford can classify it as a large car. If it had a trunk that was any smaller, it would be midsize. The interior dimensions nearly matches that of the Fusion. That has been the issue with the Taurus since its debut; large car on midsize frame.

I have been saying since 1989 (purchased first Hyundai) that there biggest problem was that their values drop like a 10,000 pound anchor after driving off lot. It was that way in 1989 and still that way in 2014. I have a fully loaded 2012 Hyundai Genesis. This will be my last Hyundai. I have owned an Excel, Sonata (several) and an Azera besides this Genesis. Tired of value almost cutting in half. I know some will say that it doesn't matter if you keep the car. Sorry, but it does to me. I will probably be looking at a Honda Accord (I know, a step down in size), but at least these cars hold their doggone value much better than Hyundai. Also why I have been a long advocate for them spinning off their Genesis and Equus lines. I just can't stomach spending over $50k (and yes, I can afford it) for a Hyundai versus other premium brands even if that other brand's car was used.

Goodbye Hyundai.

Buy used like I did. Fully loaded 3.8 w/prem & tech, 15k miles, $23000. Someone else lost that value. No, it wasn't certified but I have the b-b until 60k, longer than most new cars. For whatever reason the Genesis was cheaper than an Azera when I was looking.

I'm comparing the 5.0 Genesis to the twin turbo MKS - the top engines for each... The twin turbo XTS STARTS at $63k... The MKS and Genesis are at least similarly priced...
