  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hyundai Genesis vs. Passat CC

I've said in other threads that the CC was my first choice last November. I was coming out of a V6 Passat w/AWD, and LOVED the styling of the CC. Then I saw the Genesis, did the comparison(s), and for the same $$ got a V8 with a 17 speaker surround system (versus the Dynaudio stereo I'd lived with for the previous 3 years).
I still think the CC is a beautiful car though.

I test drove the CC 2.0T and the Jetta Diesel last month. The Jetta really impressed me, the CC, not so much. The car looks nice the fit and finish is superb, the rear seats fold down and the car has style.
Then you have to drive it... The car has no balls. You have to really get the RPM's up in order to access the power and the engine buzzes without really pulling. It's very nose heavy, and the steering is numb and light. Then there's the price. 36k sticker for a FWD 4 banger. Um, sorry NO. The CC is like a really pretty girl. The shell is spectacular, but then you find out there's nothing really on the inside.

I guess I was really lucky. My Phaeton never had any problem at all, BUT is was at the last of the products brought to the USA.

The phaeton has no comparison for me other than the Bentley and that was over Bling Bling for me. The Audi 7 series was somewhat close but no cigar. OF Course the CC looks better than the new BMW (but that's not new news) GAD I hate BMW's!

The Genesis has a better NAV system and Voice control and Ipod connection. Mostly because being yeas later.

The suspension of the Phaeton was incomparable. Regardless of the setting level (4) it had great road contact, great ride and wonderful control. The quality of materials and assembly are the best i have ever owned.

HOWEVER the CC is a pale car in comparison and the Genesis is for the money far far beyond the CC and gives the Phaeton a bib of a run for the money, forgetting that the materials quality must be less for so much less dollars. AND of course no AWD for the Genesis and since I have a 09 model the ride is, well you all know how I feel (pun intended) about the Genesis ride.
