  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hyundai is not ready to sell an upscale car line

If you think Toyota "stands behind" their warranty, Google "piston slap", "navigation problems", or anything related to their HID headlights. If you still feel the same way afterwards, I have this bridge you'd be interested in.......................
When there is a design flaw that causes pervasive problems for a particular model, a manufacturer may take the position that it is a feature (i.e., design flaw) rather than a "defect in material or factory workmanship" and therefore it is not covered under their manufacturer's warranty. Obviously, if a big enough of a stink is raised (class action lawsuit) they may cover a design flaw under warranty, but they often try not to, mainly because almost every vehicle is going to be affected and the cost of repair for all of them would be large. Also, they may only be able to replace the bad parts with parts that have the same design flaw.

Expectations!!! Well with over 160thousand parts, connections & probably miles of loom it's amazing how most of the time everything works..
But of course when it's our/your vehicle that has issues it's personal..
Whatever the cost of the vehicle no one wants to be a regular visitor to any service department..Being honest some service departments are less than cordial and or less than capable, even a light bulb replacement can be a traumatic experience..
My worst experience was with VW (never again) .. Overall I found "H" to be in my opinion a reliable marque..Warranty & other such claims have always been met with courtesy, civility and a positive outcome.. There are rogue vehicles out there, even some Brand New vehicles have accidents & other work done prior to even getting into the showroom.. Always ask to see the FULL service history of the vehicle before signing..
Ok it's back to my "G" ~ oh such pleasure
For those of you that say Hyundai "Never Again" ~~ Goodbye..close the door behind you..(^:^)

At least Hyundai allows you to see work done BEFORE the car got to the dealer (ie, port).
Go to Hmaservice.com and sign up for an (free) account. On the left menu of the home page click Telematics. You'll be asked for a VIN #. A page will open with ALL repair history.
Nice feature, haven't heard of any other brand doing this.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I think we are missing the point""
The Genesis is a fine vehicle, as with any technical piece of equipment something can go wrong...I bet even Bentleys & Rollers" have issues?!?
The point is, are the dealerships that are somewhat lacking in people & technical skills willing to up their game?
I suspect their repeat sales will show a slowly declining graph, albeit those dealers who offer 110% service will show a steady growth.
Lets have a section for dealer service & people skills..
(5) Tops going downwards.. (1) Beware.. I'm sure the dealers having lower scores will step up and raise their Game""............

WowCool, I could not have said it better. I like my car and I realize anything mechanical has the ability to malfunction no matter who builds it. What I am frustrated with is the Hyundai service experience and lack of follow up. I was given BS answers when I had the car serviced and more than two weeks after my initial call, Hyundai Customer Service has yet to get back to me. Yes I have made follow up calls and I still have no answers. I never posted before, but after I contacted Hyundai’s Customer Assistance Center to discuss my unsatisfactory experience with the dealer and no one had the courtesy to call me back, I felt frustrated enough to start this thread. So I reiterate; “Hyundai is not ready to sell an upscale car line”.

To Hyundai Customer Service: Is Andrew on vacation?

You'd be shocked at the number of class action lawsuits. The final straw for me was the HID issue they have on many of their cars (never mind the piston slap that was so bad you'd swear a rod bearing was going out). Prius owners have in fact, brought forth a class action.

The Avalon also had defective HID's and they acknowledged that by extending the warranty for Avalon's with the same crappy D4R based HID's. My issue was that they jerked me around for over a year until the car exceeded the 75K mile "extension" they gave owners of Avalons, then proceeded to tell me that both very spendy self leveling headlight assemblies needed to be replaced at my expense (over $3,500), even though I had documented the problem existed over a year earlier when the mileage was less than 50K miles.

To add insult to injury, the car was CPO'd, I had purchased a factory "bumper to bumper no deductible" warranty at the time of purchase, and Toyota Corporate was the original owner (executive lease). This was after I ate a full set of rotors and pads due to the rotors warping at 30K miles (sorry buddy, not warranty).

I could regale you with a couple more WTF stories on the LS430,

BUT,

You get the idea.

I only drive about 7500 miles per year, and I usually keep cars past the bumber-to-bumper warranty period, so I try and avoid things like "self leveling headlight assemblies." I am sure it is cool, but I don't recall ever really needing it, and just one more thing that can break. I had a 1986 Honda Accord LXi with flip up headlights, which seemed really cool at the time until they stopped flipping up when turned on.

lol remember all those cars... fiero's , firebirds... corvette ?

they all drove down the road one up and one down !

gotta agree with you on that one. it server no purpose other then aerodynamics during the day = not worth it.

self leveling and turning headlights do server a purpose and I support them but again agree another thing to break.

Worse than that, I had a dark grey 1986 Accord with the headlights hidden when off. One time I was driving down an asphalt road during daylight hours, but the dark road surface made my Accord nearly invisible to oncoming traffic, one of which almost made a left turn head-on into my car.

"Hyundai is not ready to sell an upscale car line"
They didn't listen to us, because they are.. Lets be honest the whole range of North American Hyundai's are excellent vehicles........They offer more for your "buck" with the added bonus of a Great Warranty & to my mind a Higher QC
than many other vehicle manufacturers........I'm wondering if the Genesis
was offered with a ZF Manual g/box, 4.0 V6 and stripped of it's high tech gizmos..would it sell to those who want a large no frills powerful vehicle?
My requirements:- Rspec Brakes - A/C - Decent FM radio/cd - BT -
Central Locking - High Powered Head/Driving Lights -
Track Oriented suspension - BigBoy Wheels - 4 BIG exhaust pipes poking out from under the rear valance - 25gallon Fuel Tank - Big Tach/Smaller Speedo -
Fuel, Oil temp, Oil Pressure & Engine Temp Gauges - Old Fashioned On/Off switches for my Headlights, Driving Lights & Wipers..OMG that would be

Bottom line, the Genesis and Equus are great cars for the money. Regardless of badge.
The OP had an oil burning issue. Most of us do not. Yet this somehow equates to "Hyundai isn't ready to sell an upscale car line"?

The post was "not" about an oil burning issue!!!!!
