  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Can the "H" emblem on the motor cover be removed easily. Will the round Genesis steering wheel emblem fit there?
Just looking for options....

To quote a former member, most of us just wear bags over our heads if we have to open the hood and expose a Hyundai logo.

No one seems to want to answer your question so I will tell you what I did. I can't answer the question about the steering wheel emblem .
Removing the H from the engine cover is not real hard but harder than the other emblems on the car. It is glued in to a slight indention and has 2 locating pins going through the engine cover. The pins don't pull out and will break off. I was able to get it up on one side (using a lot of rags to protect the cover) then slip a thin piece of metal under the H to brake of the pins. See the attachment to see the final results.

Thanks! I appreciate your response - it's on there so well that it looks like it's molded in the cover. I'll give it a try wcgw? thanks again

Wow, you opted to replace a decent enough looking Hyundai logo with something that looks like it came from Things Remembered?? Why, so the engine oil change guy sees it? I just don't get that at all.

I'm sorry, I don't remember where the pins are. It was about 2 years ago and at 75 years old I have a hard time remembering my name on a good day.

Why did the chicken cross the road? To be on the other side.
Why do I do something to MY car? Because I want to.

I ended up just replacing the cover
Damn, and I just came across this because I'm wanting to do the exact same thing, but I don't want to replace the cover if I don't have to. How much did that cover cost you?

I think it was $60 on ebay - it has the geneisis emblem and v6 on it
Ahhh, okay. I think we might be talking about 2 different parts. Mine is the air intake cover. That thing is like $300-400. I'm going to mess around with it today and see what I can come up.

So I finally got around to removing the Flying H today. I thought it was going to be a chore, but it literally took me 30 seconds. I squirted the Goof Off around the edges and let it sit while I grabbed the small scraper. It simply came right off and I wiped the area to get off any residue. Now to figure out what I'm going to put in it's place. 🤔

Let us know. IMO, it looks worse blank than with the H in place. If you come up with an attractive replacement it is an enhancement but blank it looks beat on by a hack mechanic.

Is the Hyundai logo on the window glass? I know it’s on the windows of my ‘12 Genesis.

Just drill several holes in an arc under the existing two holes. Basically, turn it into a smiley face. 🙂

Then paint the face yellow.

There, I fixed it for you. 1621170343792.gif

Wow, thanks for the positive feedback. This post was supposed to be about how people can remove the emblem easily if they wanted to. It had nothing to do with how the unfinished cover looked. I already have the replacement on order, but that wasn't the intent of the post. For the record, after I cleaned it up, it looks like new, just without the H. Not "beat on by a hack mechanic". 🙄
